  1. possibly x amount of time in game = highscores forever would work...maybe 300-400 gamedays
  2. Speaking as a member of said majority, my problem with it is that any and all achievements I've made, or will ever make, in-game will be wiped from the official rankings like Kaida23 had never existed. Nobody should be made to feel that expendable. As I said, although this is my own personal opinion, if I was to stop caring about the game enough to quit and cancel my membership, it really wouldn't bother me if I was removed from the hiscores as I only care about them when I am actually playing the game. I can understand where you are coming from, though. I think Athymy makes a good point here. He really speaks to what is healthy motivation for playing, regardless of Jagex's most recent highscore update. If you are playing for ranks than it had better be because you want those ranks for you and you only. Playing so that others will somehow appreciate you more because of your ranks is the wrong reasons to be playing. Don't play for someone else's enjoyment; only play for your own. If you played for someone else's enjoyment you will see everything you did as a "waste of time." If you played for your self you will just see it as an enjoying time. That said I think that this update is total bullshit. Also Athymy do you have any plans to make a bid for the top 15? I see you are powering through magic now and you have a lot of fast xp still open. It would be nice to have another fellow poster in the top 15. yea nothing wrong with ranks for personal achievement.
  3. what about the friends u made in game? I don't check the high scores as much when i'm not nolifing the game but it is a record for the other players of the game. If many people are removed from the high scores peoples real rank would be questionable...so mainly the historical account is why im against it people like n0valyfe, Zarfot, Top ranks in many skills, old friends highscore pages just going poof. but like Athymy said its just a shock to the system all my rs screenies got deleted I used to think "damn if i ever lost my screenshots id lose my memories of scape" but now its like "those screenies dont make my memories of scape" but anyway if i thought all i achieved in rs was levels and exp id have quit ages ago.
  4. so basically most skills will have the rank 1 change? Lol
  5. lol its so jd cant get number 1 prayer but yea didnt he buy members in march to edit some forum guides then just leave it. well it says elias = not a member and telmo = a membr zarfot = a member if u go by alog. some people will quit and want highscores as a record but peopel that truly quit and forget about runescape all together wont care about highscores when members is canceled. Its just a rarity to truly forget about rs even when not gaining exp.
  6. Hahahah! :DDD I'm pretty sure S U O M I won't quit before 5b xp unfortunate cycle accident
  7. I know some people that want to get it. Some of they even read this topic. jdela200milla
  8. I'm still here. RIP People doesn't talk about me. People flame me. No, I'm not a victim because I don't even care. OMG ZARFOT IS COMING BACK@@@@@@@@@@@@ As Xp waste as any other mini-game. http://gyazo.com/ceed5bca7f3bc3e3e7d0ea5e228399cd pssh zarfot is gonee suomi will get it first it would be pro if jagex made a new skill or two the day after that gave massive exp in other skills :P haha
  9. everyone has 200m dungeoneering....
  10. well b4 effigies not having farm was a big deal nowdays it is less and its different to accually have started it then have not started it. so thats why people bug u less about farming than before lol.
  11. dungeoneering is my only 200m and the only skill i miss accually...i dont play scape nearly as much as before...... thiers not many ways to eliminate the grind without makin skills faster or completely different then they are now idk but if i had known how much runescape takes i probably wouldnt have started it and played another game with less time requirements. YOur probably rght about the 4 years thing i see more higher lvls everywhere i go and ive been 138 for like 2 yrs or 3 so its not really biassed i barely see lvls 60-100 just out and about RS is not well known and if it is its not known as a great game I think this months updates were a step in the right directions - climber mode + special battles foor challenging fights for fun and one piercing note for bl00d.
  12. exactly some people are better at multitasking then others - some people can studying while doing there work some people can afk slayer some people can barely afk ivy. Jd did smithing in artisans workshop cuz it was all afk i think not all skills should be afk but its ok and welcome if some are.
  13. Good job Jagex  Now if they adress the reasons people chose to bot in the first place maybe runescape will last another 10 years. This is exactly the suggestion I don't like. People will target the grind and Jagex will do all they can to minimize it. This may include substantially increasing Xp rates. I WANT grind; that's what RS is about. I'm hopeful that when "targeting grind" Jagex won't just fall back on the easy option of making things faster. Jagex have said in the past that they love the fact that different skills are different speeds, that there are fast skills and slow skills, hard skills and easy skills (they said this when defending the Ivy/Sawmill training update, where they made woodcutting very easy, but they WANT woodcutting to be very easy, and I don't think they want RC or agility to be that easy.) I would hope that this philosophy remains when "targeting grind" and instead of speeding things up they make more updates like herblore habitat hunting, or Jadinko firemaking, where they provide an alternative training method, not massively different in exp rate (I know HH hunting is best in game but hunter was always a fast non-buyable, along with Thieving, always was meant to be so) but the new methods just provide a different feel to the motions of training the skill, or don't involve so much money or boring endless purchases and sales on the GE, or otherwise shaking up the way we train, and giving us more options to play how we prefer, whether it be for lesser exp or for equal exp. "Targeting grind" in that way is something I wouldn't mind at all. Im not going to argue whether or not grind based games are good or bad however I will say that as long as it is a grind based game there will be a large number of people who choose to cheat. Perhaps maybe not bot anymore but I can imagine gold buying will be on the rise. Your own achievements are extraordinary simply because you are a rare person to not mind the grind (or perhaps even enjoy it). My personal opinion on how to fix it is, keep xp rates the same make it still take insane amounts of hours ot max out however create non repetitive forms of training. But my cousin with autism (and perhaps a few other people) might hate the lack of repetition. Its just crap game design to make a game solely around click object A, use on object B, repeat 100k times and ive always seen bots as a symptom of Jagex poorly designed game. Bots would either say "[bleep] it ill have a program click 100k times so i dont have to while I do something fun" or the other types of bots will farm gold and sell it to a player, with the player saying "[bleep] it, ill buy gold so I can use Object C on Object D 25k times for 99 and save dozens of hours of my life bypassing repetitive and boring aspects of the game." .... guess I did end up arguing why grind games are bad  Except the fact that RuneScape is a successful game, therefore it couldn't have been a bad design. Design may not be bad, it's just not keeping up with the times. After Jagex removed all the bots f2p worlds rarely go past 200 people sometimes as low as 30. In this day in age there's so many games out there, that are better in RS. Yes, Rs is fun, but the time it takes to do stuff just isn't worth it to most people. I'd gurantee most players have been scaping for 4+ years. Jagex prolly doesn't get many new players. Jagex pretty much has to change something to bring in new players. All banning bots did, was keep players from leaving. yea I wouldn't have a good explanation for someone to start rs at this point in time. My main reason for enjoying it kind of depends on the fact that I started when i was 15 and played in long nolifing spurts followed by a month or 2 of a few hours a day then repeating. Finding friends early in the game helps with likeing rs but most of it is an aquired taste. Also if someone wants actiony battles it is best found in another game rather than trainingg for months + to get 138 and the required pray/herb lvls ...The quest are good but there are other games to provide just a story with less time invested.
  14. yea exactly the efficient method doesnt calculate fun/irl sustainability ect but still the most efficient way but knowing the most efficient method isnt really "skill" just reading and practicing it
  15. as much time as i've put into scape i gotta agree :P in scape thier is alot of variation in terms of exp gained/days played - i think my avg is like 72k lol most of the variation in that - if it varies then it would imply rs has some skillbased aspects... 1.) time started game and time when training skills/updates - this doesnt take skill except maybe "oh i should train cooking and wait til i do combat and use effigies on rc..." or "i wont train fishing til im done with faster skills they might update it" 2.) moneymakin/buyables - thier are methods that take skill to make money - merchanting/investing ect but alot of it is luckbased... 3.)click intensive/afk methods - some of the click intensive methods some people do better than others because better at timing/focusing on a task ect but in general if both are really into the method they should have simular rates...personally i hate most of the "tic methods" 4.) time spent ingame accually skilling - some people take longer doing quest/events than others, some take longer banking than others, some afk more than others, some chat more than others, some play minigames/pk...-these factors dont really indicate skill cept maybe questing if your noob like me lol....more motivation to not waste minutes of ingame time. in terms of exp/month/day - just really has to do with someones tolerance for nolifing or rl situation - even when i didnt have any obligations irl i still had sleep + family around me to make me not wanna nolife but other people are more confortable playing rs longer per day consistantly. idk if that really takes skill or not but in general i dont think nolifin takes skill just haveing a good motivation for scape.... but compared to games that acccually take thinkin or insane reflexes rs is not one of them and rs is not looked at that favorably in the gaming world.... PS: its 247 am thiers a red line every other word if you cant read this post lol...
  16. That made me lol Same, literally lol'd irl xD Other than that (actually no) I agree with your whole post essiw. didnt even notice lol my brain already replaces words like that ;P
  17. ^ lol its sad that 1b exp is like rank 200 nowdays ;( but idc cuz im lobbyviv ;P
  18. I liked the part where you didnt show up if you cared about that and also where he thanked people in the cc afterwards. But your part was cool too. I like the part where he had a party in the first place. 200m cook is v big deal u c Although being one of the fastest, it's still quite a commitment. *looks at 108m cook exp* "oh i failed 200m cook bad" 200ms are boring lol Having a party for 200m cook. Derp. Getting a 200m before your even maxed. Bigger derp. Thinking people actually care. No one. Also nice update A1 steak sauce. well some people get 200ms b4 they max because its enjoyable lol suomi had like 6 or 7 b4 he maxed and sometimes they make better ways to train skills or after getting all them 200ms 99s must be a a sinch hehe cause 200m cook is longer hourwise than most 99s but yea hes just self centered but hey the g and a forum doesnt give any postcount lol
