To be honest, I would use Gnome. Not because it's any better for xp, but because its location is more practical. Think about it, you have a Spirit Tree right there. It's loaded with like 7 teleports, including one to the GE. You can also use the Spirit Tree to check on Evil Trees, if you're in to that kind of stuff. You have easy access to a Gnome Glider as well, with a few more teleports. You have access to a bank that is extremely close. You do not need to teleport to CW then teleport using the Games Necklace to bank for food/pies. In addition, it's a real bank, not a bank chest, so you can easily take out your items from the GE collection box.

By all means you can go ahead and try it with 71 defense. There is nothing wrong with being confident. Defense doesn't always decide if you will die or not. Take Void, it has terrible defense, yet people use it at boss monsters and do just fine. So you could certainly go to GWD. You could certainly kill the bosses. You could certainly get a hilt drop or two and get a few million. Will it be harder than if you raised your defense? Yes. But is it impossible? No. However, I would strongly recommend raising defense. If you are a pure and want to keep your defense at 71, then so be it. But if you are not a pure, then you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Think about it this way, if you are not a pure, then you will probably end up raising defense in the future anyway. You might enjoy GWD so much that you want to kill the bosses more efficiently, in which case defense will be important, if not crucial. You might wish to equip high-leveled armor, and will need a higher defense level. Or maybe in the future you might want to max out melee, or even max out combat. (Trust me when I say you don't know what you'll do in the future. I never thought I would get half the stats I did. If you told me 2 years ago what my stats were today I wouldn't believe you.) It could happen, and to be honest, it most likely will happen. Therefore, if you are going to train defense in the future anyway, regardless of your current decision, why not train defense now? Think about it. If, let's say, in 1 year you will have 90 defense, whether you chose to raise it now or not, why not train it now? If you got it in 1 month, that means you would have 11 months to use 90 defense and 11 months to reap all of its benefits. However, if you put it off and ignored defense, but decided to raise it in February, you would only have 6 months to enjoy the benefits. So by raising defense now, you get an extra 5 months to use that level. (Of course, I can't predict the future, this was just an example.) It's your call. However, if I were in your position, I would definitely raise my defense to at least 90. But remember, you don't need defense to get lucky. If you wanted to go to GWD at 71 defense, it's certainly possible, and I say go for it.

The best way (or at least the most efficient) to train melee is whip on controlled. Therefore, attack style really shouldn't matter. Of course, if you do not train on controlled, this does not apply, and SS would be preferable over ZS.

Averages with Smoke Barrage @ 90 magic w/ 102 magic bonus, using Prossy for lures and w/o SGS. 114k magic xp/hr 59.5k hp xp/hr 513 casts/hr 6 blue/hr 40 green/hr 163 crim/hr 96 gold/hr 1.45 ppots/hr = ~6 doses/hr 1 cast = 222 magic xp 1 cast = 115 hp xp 1 blue = 85.5 casts 1 green = 12.825 casts 1 crim = 3.15 casts 1 gold = 5.34 casts If you do not use Prossy, you will use double the ppots per hour. If you use an SGS, you will use maybe 2-3 ppots for the entire TRIP. I did not have an SGS at the time, so it was not included. Using any melee weapon to KO rock lobs on low health will save you casts. It will not make you get charms faster, but it'll save you money. Then you can use this calculator to calculate the exact number of shards you need (including a timeline of exactly when to trade in the shards) and the exact cost of the 99. However, note that you need to enter in the prices of 2nds manually. Also you must provide the charms you have, so there's a bit of guesswork involved. Generally, 4 golds = 1 crim, 3 greens = 1 crim, 2-3 crims = 1 blue. If you wanted me to take a guess, I would say something like 180M for all the barrages and for all the summoning costs. However, you should have all the information you need to calculate it yourself.

Awesome, thanks! Will add.

I'm not sure why you'd go to only the Wiki for information. However good the Wiki is, it always has errors. I'm not saying you shouldn't use it, but you should always check the information. For something as important as this, I would go to the Knowledge Base first. Proof that Wikis should not be trusted 100%: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ire ... 92919.html

I'm pretty sure the corrupt version degrades based on wearing time and the regular version degrades based on combat time. And it's always been like this.
-
Guthans + range pray might be able to work out. The important thing to remember is always pray range, even though you're wearing guthans. It worked well for me, although when I did it I had higher stats (around 85 melee and 80 magic).
-
I would go to Waterfiends, even without a bunyip. If you have guthans, you can still have decent lasting power. If you have 72 slayer, you could kill Skeletal Wyverns for charms. Every other Wyvern drop crimson charms, and since the charms come in twos, you can expect 1 crimson for each Wyvern you kill. The bones are also worth something (take a while to sell, but sellable) and you have a chance at a visage and at granite legs.

[Updated 9 Dec] Reviving Smithing : Divinite

Possible, but I hope it gives them inspirations at least. After all, I don't expect this to get added in word for word. I expect maybe a few concepts used and few weapons. Not the entire thing. -

Mahogany tables are better than oak larders/doors, imo. It's not much more expensive, and it gives really fast xp. Esp now with make-x on the worktable, it's truly the best option. -

Best Training Area To Train On Bloodvelds? [RANGE - P2P]
Zaaps1 replied to Clay_More12's topic in Help and Advice
I notice no difference of defense between normal and mutated velds. They honestly have next to no defense, so hitting them should not be a problem. Since you haven't done the quest, you should hop to the Tower. However, it is extremely crowded there. I would recommend going to GWD and if that doesn't work, maybe even cancel the task. If I had to use the Tower for veld tasks, I would cancel them. Way too crowded. Honestly speaking it's worse at velds than it is at abyssals. -
he said on the first post if u want stab use leaf bladed and rune defender and ut was the same stats.. Zammy spear is still better. It hits harder and gives a prayer bonus as well.
-
Best stab tool: Best weapon at Corp, Aquanites, and high-level metal dragons. Good crush tool: Good weapon at Waterfiends and Gargolyes.

Magic doesn't hit very high, so 15% isn't much at all. It should be higher, considering that Blood spells heal 25%. Looking good, though! -
If you character has a projectile, use it. If you hit Zelda when she uses Din's Fire, she loses control of it and it just floats off-screen, harmless. Din's Fire travels pretty slow, so most projectiles can outrun it (Wolf/Falco's lasers, Pit's arrows, Sheik's needles, etc.).

Best Training Area To Train On Bloodvelds? [RANGE - P2P]
Zaaps1 replied to Clay_More12's topic in Help and Advice
With or without a cannon, best bloodvelds location are the Mutated Velds. There is a safespot on the north side and south side of the room between crates. These are much better than regular velds (some of which are to the room to the west of the mutated velds room. Those are worse xp and there are only 3, although safespots exist there too) and give better xp. In addition you could cannon like most people do on slayer tasks, although you would need to pray melee when you reload the cannon since the mutated velds hit pretty hard and accurately/ -
Yes and is in a hotspot. However is it not a multicombat zone which can be risky.. There's no risk if you know what you are doing. 1. If anyone tries to attack you, do not attack back and run to the ice warriors. The warriors will pj him and he will have to deal with the ice warrior before he deals with you. If they are unaggressive toward you, then you can now log out safely, or run with a head start. 2. It's f2p....if you have anything other than trash defense and wield rune armor, you'll only get hit for 0s...honestly pking in f2p is fail unless you're fighting pures or no arm battles. Rune armor is extremely tough to get past with just a rune scimitar. There's really nothing to worry about.

Ice Giants in wilderness is pretty nice combat xp.

The weapon is weak compared to the broadsword, with 45 less str and ~50 less slash. Another problem I have is the weapon special. It's useless in PvP, as your opponent steps away, then heals/pots/changes armor. In which case it becomes a liability, not an asset. On the other hand, the special is way too powerful in PvM. Its special allows it to inflict tremendous damage on monsters too dumb to walk away from you - almost every monster in the game. The special would 1-hit monsters like Jad, GWD bosses, etc. 1. Broadsword is slower. 2. Its special is by no means a liability. If they are stepping away from you, that means they cannot be attacking you. That means you have the opportunity to eat/pot up/run without fear of them KOing you for the duration of the special. And since you control when the special attack activates, you control when the fight "ends". This is also not overpowered because your opponent can take this chance to heal up himself, or teleblock/bind you since you cannot attack back. Still, it allows you to control the flow of the fight, which is extremely powerful. 3. You misunderstand the special. You take no damage and the damage you take is recoiled based on your defense level. So Jad's max is 99 right? If you blocked that with the special, you'd recoil a percentage of that (1% if 1 defense, 99% if 99 defense, etc.). So the max you could recoil would be 98hp, which is far from Jad's max hp. And since no monster has a max hit higher than its hp, this special, by itself, cannot 1HKO any monster. You are aware that a handcannon is more commonly known as a "gun", right? : Ye. Point being? Finally, I love the idea of a curse system, but your explanation of why it is cursed is a bit odd. It is called "Divinite", why would it be cursed? Another thing is your "Blessed Divine Weapons". Having it cursed seems a bit contradictory. This isn't a big deal, but it bothers me. =P~ "Divine" doesn't mean "supported by the gods". It only means "having godly power". "Blessed" doesn't mean "shall always be protected by the gods". It only means "favored or powerful due to gods' interaction". By wielding a divine weapon, you are essentially challenging the gods' power, causing them to bestow the curse. -
Black scimitar would work pretty well.

That means you'll be getting 30k xp over the course of 3 days. Very possible. Each tree run will yield about 3k xp and each fruit tree run will yield about 7k xp. You can also double up or even triple up on tree runs. So on trees alone you should be getting 16k xp per day (excluding the first day, when you will need to plant all the trees). Each herb run will also yield about 1.5k xp (assuming ranarrs + marigolds), and you can do 5-6 of those per day. You could farm allotments as well, although I don't know the exact numbers for that. If I told you the average yield was 16 (assuming supercompost + magic secuteurs) you should be able to figure it out. I've been told Vinesweeper is 20-30k farming xp per hour. I was no personal confirmation, but that's what I have been told. It may be true, and if it is, you should consider it. Judging from your posts, you need 40 farming to do a quest which unlocks a location you must go to for your clue? If that is the case, remember you can use items/familiars such as the garden pie to boost your farming level to meet the requirements. You only need to do this for the segment of the quest which requires that skill. Garden pie gives +3, so you would really only need 37 farming. However, some quests do not allow this and require you to meet all of the requirements before starting the quest (Lunar Diplomacy, for example). Since that is the case, and you must allow yourself time to do the quest and possibly meet the other requirements, and since you only have 2-3 days, I would definitely recommend at least trying Vinesweeper for the experience. I've never been good at it myself, so pick up a guide. If I have been told right, the level should take no more than 2 hours at Vinesweeper.

Kent's guide to Slayer mastery! NEW SECTION!!!
Zaaps1 replied to Inuashakent's topic in General Guides
But remember he is also saying to use void. So it would be Void + Salve (e) vs. Slayer Helm + Fury + Barrows/Bandos + Barrows Gloves. Still doesn't seem worth it imo, esp. since you're giving up a lot of defense. -

They (Jagex) should take this opportunity and give Wintumber Trees to all the current members who happened to be f2p when they did the Christmas event (ex. me and many others). I was there for the event and I did that event legitimately in f2p. I didn't get the Tree back then, but that's understandable. However, now I'm p2p and since I did the event, shouldn't I be able to get the proper rewards? I didn't do any less work than those members who did the event. I think I should be entitled to that Tree :x /Rant. I REALLY love the attack option. I slaying Nechs in the CTs yesterday and my Fire Titan actually made a difference.
