  1. Apparently it's these guys. (more info) No clue what (O) FZ is.
  2. I think they're going for CISLA, whatever that is. Someone's writing that all around the smaller (former) OT. I had a ton of ink yesterday so I decided to draw some flags. One of them died quickly but the other one is surprisingly clear (but small) from completely zoomed out.
  3. Why do big updates always have to come out when I can't play...? I'm tempted to go on and just craft though since I don't have much else to do. Engi just went from my favorite class (lol shut up) to my epically favorite class. The Wrangler is like a dream come true.
  4. GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL Staying up to 2:30 am to watch all the games now. Fun.
  5. Not surprised that I like your list. I haven't played some of the older games due to my age, but otherwise, plenty of good stuff. I'm trying to play through Braid now actually, and it's great, though I hear that Trine's music is better. :P
  6. You know, if Ghana were facing Germany and that happened, and it was Mertesacker who was standing there instead of Suarez, he would've just stuck his face in the way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KI1HRDPSXQA
  7. So many INTJ's I don't feel special anymore. :( Can't say I'm surprised though. If I cared I would probably label myself as INTJ, which may or may not explain why I always get that result. I took the IPIP Neo a while back and saved my results: [hide=] Domain/Facet........... Probably didn't take it too seriously to be fair.
  8. Various reasons. First, because it has potential to incite war, which I think is the biggest issue. Second, because many times nationalism leads to racism/xenophobia. There are some other reasons, but I think these are the main ones. Yeah, I said "I can." We read some Howard Zinn in history this past year actually - he lived near me apparently before he died.
  9. Last sentence of my essay on my history final exam (not saying it was well written or anything...): "...nationalism is still a driving force behind independence movements such as the one in Taiwan." I suppose I'm a proud Taiwanese nationalist. Not to be confused with Chinese Nationalist. (I wonder what nationalists in China would be called today. Chinese Nationalists is the obvious term, but that usually refers to the KMT - the losers of the Chinese Civil War who fled to Taiwan) For countries that aren't 100% officially independent, such as Taiwan, nationalism is usually pretty important if the country does want full independence. That's one reason why I'm nationalistic. Taiwan is also a pretty impressive place - one of the lowest poverty rates in the world, pretty high GDP and GDP per capita, one of the largest federal reserves, and most Little League World Series titles if you divide the US into the individual states. All while being the 8th most densely populated country in the world. I'd also say it's a world leader in math and computers too. Of course, I'm just saying all this because I'm patriotic, but it's also a reason to be patriotic. I'm not saying Taiwan is #1 in the world, but for a country the size of Maryland and Delaware combined (though with about as many people as Texas) I think it's something to be proud of even though I don't live here (though I'm here now...). And in the US, individualism is emphasized pretty strongly (at least in Massachusetts), and my Taiwanese heritage is something that does make me pretty special most of the time. I can see why people dislike nationalism though. If I were American, I probably wouldn't be very nationalistic - nothing terribly wrong with America though, I just don't think I would care. I can't quite put my finger on why I care so much about Taiwan though...I don't really like the current Taiwanese government so hm...
  10. I've been flying most of the day so I missed both games, but I managed to catch glimpses of some Dutch and Brazilian players shoving each other while running through the airport at Newark, and now I'm sitting in Tokyo watching a full recap of that game (ref was Japanese, maybe that's why haha). Really glad to see Brazil gone...probably one of my least favorite teams. Haven't really seen anything about the Ghana game though (other than from this forum), but from what I hear, really sucks for them. Uruguay is probably my favorite of the South Americans though, so I'm not too unhappy. Hopefully I can catch some of Germany's match later on. Holland - Germany in the final would be great.
  11. That's very true. The war had already been going on for over a year, if you count Lexington and Concord as the beginning. So up here in Massachusetts, we have a little holiday we call Patriots' Day, which no one actually celebrates because that's what it commemorates - the fighting at Lexington and Concord and I suppose the fighting of the war overall. On the other hand, July 4th is really only celebrating freedom and independence (hence Independence Day). Nothing wrong with that, even though some Americans do get a little over-patriotic. I'm not American in the slightest so I don't really care, but I'll be out of the country anyway. Happy July 4th to those who will be around - hope you enjoy your fireworks and hot dogs and hamburgers!
  12. They have one of these every holiday season (as in late December), but I don't remember them having this sale last year. Knowing Valve though they'd probably do it again next year anyway. I'm loving the little caution signs too. Today's, at the top: "WARNING: Carnival rides are dangerous and can result in pants wetting, vomiting and death." Then "Between around 50 and 150,000 people were treated in emergency rooms for amusement park injuries in the past year alone. Play it safe - games on Steam" at the bottom. Haha. I'm in the same boat as you anyway Indy. I stocked up on games over the holiday sale, and I expected to play most of them over the summer. A lot of these deals are tempting but my bought-but-not-played-yet list would just keep growing. But TF2 is $6.79 (66% off) today, so if anyone was waiting for a good time to buy that awesome game, go. Do it now.
  13. It's a lame excuse but that ref really was awful (same ref as US - Slovenia I think). Really inconsistent, and Paraguay should've only had 10 men for the end of the second half + all of extra time. Don't remember who it was (Morel?) but a player from Paraguay elbowed Endo in the head...as the announcers said, it was red card worthy. <_< So South America continues to dominate, and half the teams in the quarterfinals will be from there. And none of them have been eliminated by a non-South American opponent...
  14. Netherlands - Brazil will be a good game. But first, Spain - Portugal tomorrow. It really is worthy of being a semi-final or final game - #2 vs. #3 on the FIFA rankings. (and as I'm checking, Brazil - Netherlands will be #1 vs. # 4) I think I'll also wake up to see Japan - Paraguay. Not really expecting Japan to win, but it's possible, especially if they played the same way they did against the Danes.
  15. And the Japanese surprised the crap out of everyone. :) I only caught the last few minutes but I saw the highlights, and the goal that wasn't off a free kick was amazing. I expected a draw or maybe a 1-0 win, but not 3-1. Also gf Italy. Sucks for New Zealand to go undefeated yet not qualify. Portugal better qualify tomorrow, and I would love to see the Swiss through as well.
  16. South Korea. North Korea was the one that got raped by Portugal yesterday. (Ronaldo's goal was awesome haha) Hoping to see SK go through today - I believe if Argentina wins, they just need a draw.
  17. Like I've said (I think), the only good one I've seen so far is the one from Brazil/NK. He gave one yellow to a Brazilian in the 88th minute or something, and that's it. So yes, right now, North Korea is tied for least amount of cards. Haha. But refs are getting worse and worse and the games are getting worse and worse too to be honest. Hopefully Portugal-NK and Chile-Switzerland will be good tomorrow. Too bad I probably can't catch either.
  18. Best ref I've seen so far was the Hungarian ref in Brazil - NK. He didn't call much so you could argue that he let too many things slide (...literally + figuratively), but I thought he did a good job, compared to all these other refs. I missed both games so far today, and I'm not that interested in England/Algeria. Oh well.

    Today...

You vote for those? For us it was based on graduating GPA. Rather hilarious, because the chick that we all thought would be Valedictorian got shoved out of the spot literally the day before graduation because this one other girl finished a calculus class at the local community college. Too funny. Well that's [bleep]ing stupid. <_< It should be a mix both of education rank and social rank. Really? It makes sense to me. I mean, I know that school does have an important social aspect to it, but the main driving purpose is still academics. I've always thought it was mainly academic. Voting only makes it a popularity contest really. I guess a nerd who stays at home all day studying shouldn't really be valedictorian, which is why I've also heard that some places set a requirement of playing a varsity sport. But of course at my school, they're afraid people's feelings will get hurt so we don't even rank.
  20. LOL yeah about that. I don't think Brazil played their best the first half...they didn't have much reason to. I expect them to step it up in the second half... But North Korea has been very surprising. I expected them to be full of surprises...but not this surprising. I'd say this is the first exciting game.
  21. Your logic is flawed. I'm not saying Australia is actually part of Asia, I'm just saying that in the eyes of FIFA it kind of is. I mean, the A in AFC stands for Asian, so you'd think that every country in it is from Asia. Though Israel is in the UEFA so I guess you have a point.
  22. I'm pretty sure they qualified from the AFC this year, making them "Asia."
  23. Not a great game from either Cameroon or Japan, but I'm very, very pleased and surprised to see Japan come out on top. Can't say I liked the defensive strategy they used for basically the entire second half, but hey, it worked. Though it was extremely lucky when that Cameroon shot hit the post/crossbar (divine wind anyone? :-P ), but that was a great save by the Japanese goalie in the closing minutes. Real Asians (so that doesn't include you, Australia) are still undefeated. :)
  24. Australia is done without Cahill... But Germany has been playing great. First team I've seen so far to be generating so many good chances, though I haven't seen too many games because of the times.
  25. Yeah, but I'm not American and I don't love this place. Strange goal by Dempsey... :???:
