  1. Well, I rarely get sweaty palms out of fear. Although if I do, there are things that will freak me out more. But sweaty palms...I guess my experience yesterday is my answer. Any roller coaster or amusement park ride. At least ones that move you up and down. I suppose I'm also like you and afraid of falling. Basically heights and open spaces together. Stick me on the 89th floor of the Taipei 101 (Enclosed) and I'll be fine. Stick me on the second floor of a shopping mall, next to the glass railing thingy, I'll freak out. As for terrifying experiences, didn't we just have a thread about it?
  2. Agreed...How many moles can there be in CTU? How many times can Jack be wrongly arrested? How many times does Jack have to choose family/friends over protocol? And for the last part...Not to be sexist, but "Women are annoying." At least when it comes to 24.
  3. I probably have a extremely minor case of OCD, so I'd have quite a few things to list. A few that I can think of off the top of my head... -Numbers. Overall I prefer even over odd. More specifically, amounts must be an even number, preferably a multiple of 10, or a square number. Actions must be done an odd number of times. -Organization. I actually spend a minutes making things parallel and making things have right angles. Despite the fact that my room is messy, I'm somewhat obsessed with being organized for everything else. And we had a pet peeve thread a week or two ago.
  4. His horse is named "fourth of July".
  5. Parents are spoiling their kids more than ever. I remember when I was little, my parents would make sure I knew how to behave while still being somewhat lenient. I know I was never like that. So, yes, I agree with you. I hate little kids. And their parents that think their kids are uber-awesome and would never do anything wrong. For example... There are these two little kids I know. Whenever they see me, they attack me. Literally. The grab whatever they can and whack me with it. If they don't have anything, they use their bare hands. I complain to their mom, all she does is laugh and tell her kids not to. Like that's going to help. Or that other time...I was at the supermarket, and there was this mom pushing a stroller around. She hits me with the stroller. Doesn't even bother to see if she did anything to me. All she cared about it her little kid was okay. And then there's the hygienic problem. I understand it's natural for little kids to pick their nose and suck their thumbs and all that, but can't the parents, who know what can be spread through things like that, do something about it? I can probably keep ranting on and on, but I'm not going to. My point is that new parents don't know how to treat their children, and are being way too lenient and spoil their children.
  6. You stink. A few more riddles... Timmy and Joe are lying in a locked room. They're dead. There is a puddle of water as well as some broken glass. How did they die? You're in a room with a mirror and a table. How do you get out? I'll post more later. For the second one... Look into the mirror. You saw yourself. You take the saw, cut a hole in the table and jump through the hole. Or you can just walk out the door.

SPOILER ALERT!!! [hide]The death of edward, (I think, that fat guy right?) when the terrorists nerfed CTU made me wanna cry, apperently made Chloe wanna cry too :( [/hide] [hide] Edgar. And the first time I watched it was before I watched season four, so I didn't understand why everyone thought he was awesome. But the second time I watched it (I've watched each season except season 3 two or three times) I sort of wanted to cry. Same with the death of Palmer, and in season 6, Curtis. And by the way, the day after the episode aired, one of my classmates at school was weeping about Edgar. [/hide]
  8. Give me brakes! I trust the Midas Touch! I'd want to be able to be invisible and be able to fly. No more flying on airplanes...No getting airsick, no worrying about crashing, etc. And invisible, just read the posts over other people who said invisible and you'll see.
  9. Democracy was created in Iceland some time in the 1400's. Greece popularized democracy. I mean who would follow from the example of Iceland rather than Greece home to some of the greatest political philosophers to have existed. To clarify on the history of democracy... The ancient Greeks invented it. It wasn't a great democracy. It was mainly a bunch of rich citizens that were men voting. No one else. Then the Persian Wars came, and Pericles started the Golden Age of Athens. He then modified democracy and made it better...He gave metics and slaves a few more rights. (I think) Then later on, during the early ancient Roman times, the Romans found out about democracy. The Patricians (Or was it the Plebians?) were the only ones that voted, but later on, a Constitution was made. This was the first Republic, now the government system of the USA. Obviously, the ancient governments are nothing like modern governments, but the basic concept is the same. And I didn't mention anything about the Spartan "democracy" as Zonorhc's last posts have made me a little confused. I have no idea where you heard anything about Iceland, by the way. And I'll just get this out there...I'm Taiwanese. I don't have a huge liking for China, but I'm not going to say they suck or anything. They're a decent country, somewhat like Canada. Not as good as the USA, but still pretty good.
  10. I'd add in some spoilers if I were you. Use... [hide][/hide] And if mods will allow the bump, 24 But I'll still answer your 3 questions... [hide] -I really don't care. Like I said in my thread, I thought Audrey was really annoying and all she did was make Jack make bad decisions. Now Jack and Marilyn might end up together, and that'll be even worse. Whatever happens, I'll still say that nearly every woman on 24 is annoying. -If it's with Milo -> We have some problems. Milo is dead, and Morris didn't have especially like him. Meaning Morris and Chloe might not happen. If it's with Morris -> Great. I don't care that much. It may cause Chloe to leave the show, which won't be good. But it might possibly might add some good stuff to next season. -Kim. She's what, 25 or something now? Older? She and Jack didn't have the greatest ending, but I think the directors of 24 were aiming for some confusion about what happened to Kim. I personally think she ended up getting a job in DC or LA. Maybe for the government. I doubt she'll return to the show, but if she does, Jack has a new distraction. And I heard that the reason they ended the season like that is because they have no idea what's going on next season. They don't know who's coming back, they don't know what's going to happen. It's likely that there'll be a new location (China?) as well as nearly everyone being new. [/hide]

  12. humans i think that's the most famous riddle ever O.o Yeah, I just felt like posting the "actual riddle of the Sphinx". I think it was more of a "How fast can you type and how lucky are you to reading this first" than a "How logical are you".
  13. So let's call that a mix between an oligarchy and a democracy. It's not entirely either one. Let's leave it at that...
  14. That 90% of Bubsa's posts have the word "Smeg" That so many people on TIF have Kirby in their avatar.
  15. That's from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. If I remember correctly, it was the riddle of the Sphinx in the book. The answer is spider. Spy = First thing D = Second thing Er = Third thing Now for what is often called the riddle of the Sphinx... In the morning, I have 4 legs. In the afternoon, I have 2 legs. In the evening I have 3 legs. What am I?
  16. I learned that Jack Bauer had hair.
  17. The History Channel is a credible source? Holy hell. You learn something new everyday, even when you are, you know, a student of ancient history at university. I trust a few historians that are also history professors over a student. They might be wrong, but there's more of a chance of them being right. Ever since Lycurgus' reforms*, Sparta was essentially a democracy, with every man expected to serve on the Assembly once they could no longer serve in a martial capacity. The two kings had little actual power, most of that being purely symbolic and ceremonial, even though they were important parts of the Spartan hierarchy. In the same vein, the Ephors served in a largely religious capacity, with the greater part of legislative power residing in the Assembly. For the very large part, Spartan society was a democracy, provided that you were an actual Spartiate in the city state itself, rather than being a Helot or otherwise residing outside the city. *Although those are actually of debatable value as there is no evidence to really show that Lycurgus actually existed, rather than just being a fictional historical figure as the ancient Greeks tended to make when they wanted to justify some big change in their society or system of rule. Like you said, it's debatable. But I don't want to debate it. You're probably right about Sparta being a "democracy" during Lycurgus' time, but that was the Peloponnesian Wars. We're both right, how about that?
  18. Turn it in. If someone claims it, then great! They get their iPod back and you feel better because you helped someone else out. If someone doesn't claim it, then yay! You got a new iPod! You win either way.
  19. No, just the time it will to take to strike 3 o'clock. 2 seconds?
  20. He's a judge or whatever. One of those people that conducts marriages.
  21. Well, there's a ridiculous assumption. Darius actually allowed the Ionian city-states to retain their democratic institutions even after the Ionian revolt and the burning of Sardis. Xerxes did nothing to repeal this concession. There's no reason for him to have done away with Athens and Sparta's laughable excuses for democracy. That's what a documentary about the battle of Thermopylae on the history channel said. Go complain to them. And yeah, Azn, I was referring to how Chinese people living in the west tend to be more concerned with school and seem smarter. Glad to know someone actually understood what I meant. : And Sparta never had a democracy when it was independent. It might have switched a while after the Peloponnesian Wars, but before, during the Persian Wars, it was an oligarchy. Five ephors and two kings. And what do YOU think is a democracy?
  22. Clarification on my post: I was making a joke...Sort of...Haven't you ever heard the stereotype that all Chinese people are smart? (If not, then I guess where you live is a lot different than where I live.)
  23. When I'm not out of town, I spend nearly the whole day on the computer. I watch some TV, but most of it is TIF + other stuff. I might get myself re-addicted to RuneScape this summer.
