  1. On the topic of cool people we have grouped with (and gnomes): I was in a Blood Furnace group yesteryday: one member of the group was called Oompa and another one was called Loompa. Both were gnomes. Both were level 61, and they were probably some of the coolest people I have met in WoW. It was great fun. :D
  2. Probably having an anaesthetic syringe (what's it called?) penetrating my big toe. The pain was just massive and so immense; I have never felt anything quite like it. I couldn't sleep for three days after. As soon as I would lay down, the blood would rush down to my toe and it would just hurt like hell. Although that might have a lot to do with the fact that they had just removed 1/3 of the toenail on that particular toe (hence the syringe). Getting knocked off my scooter at over 40km/h, flying a few meters and hitting the asphalt shoulder-first did hurt quite a bit as well. :P

    Glitches

Wait, there are more than one? I meant the one where the flag carrier could jump up/to a certain place where nobody could reach him. I take it they haven't fixed them yet then.

    Glitches

In WoW, I like jumping up on the Cathedral in Stormwind -- and also the buildings closest to the AH in Ironforge. Oh and also the Caverns Of Time pre-TBC. However, most people in the WoW community know about these. :P By the way, have they fixed the WSG glitch yet?
  5. My fishing stayed at level 1 all through to level 60. Then one day, I was incredibly bored. So I got it up to level 54. No class really needs it except hunters (pet foods).
  6. You have to press the fishing-ability icon when you want to fish. Press 'P', then 'General' and it should be there somewhere.
  7. Since I didn't apply for the open beta, I got no mail like that. However, since I don't play anymore, you're welcome to play on my account. Yorkshire's in the UK right? So we're both using the european version.
  8. Wait, what? :( Blade's Edge Mountains looked so awesome from the trailer video. All those dragons impaled by [bleep]es. I really looked forward to questing there.
  9. My friends managed to persuade me to get back to WoW. Not gonna play on my belf anymore though... leveling became way too slow at 52 (especially with level 30-39 gear... +spirit necklaces and rings on a rogue, anyone?), and most of my friends stopped playing on that server anyway. So now I'm back on good ole' Shattered Hand with my human rogue, and it's much more fun. Playing with some RL friends there now, and another friend is considering migrating with his horde character to play with his brothers on that server. Gank fest. Outlands is fun. :D What isn't quite as fun is the fact that the first thing I did was replacing my t1 gloves with some blue ones - and I almost replaced my t1 shoulders with some green ones. Oi vey... *breathes* Oh. I just hit 61.
  10. Got to be one of the best RTS games I have played yet... and I usually don't even like RTS games. The campaign is brilliant and I am thoroughly enjoying it at the moment. Got the graphics settings set to ultra high and it looks great. So if you have money and the computer to handle it, you should definitely get it. Mammoth tanks are [bleep]ing badass.
  11. Yeah, ironically I don't really play much anymore. Just a number of things that has "added up" and made the game - in my opinion - pretty much unplayable. For the time being anyway. My friends feel the same, and the point was to find a game that we all would enjoy. Regardless, I'll check back on updates and how the game looks from time to time, and if I like what I see I'll buy it. But for now, it's back to WoW for me. :)
  12. FuBar hogs less memory than Titanpanel does. I also think it looks better. Go to http://www.wowace.com/files for all the FuBar addons (the things you want to have displayed on the bar). I got all my other addons from http://wow-en.curse-gaming.com/files/addons/ The ones I remember using were: Skinner, Bartender3, Enhanced Atlasloot, CTmod, CTraid, LitheTooltip, Auctioneer, KHLThreatmeter, Critline, Nature Enemy Castbar, Prat, CyCircled, AlarBGHelper, LitheTooltipDoctor, Scrolling Combat Text. The ones that alter the UI majorly are probably Skinner and Bartender3. Skinner removes the bottom bar from your UI, and let's you attach a bottom bar of its own. It also changes the look on virtually everything else (the skins are changed). However you can easily adjust it so that it only changes the things you want. It's not for everyone. Bartender3 lets you place (and change the size of) your action bars anywhere you want on the screen. CyCircled merely replaces the square bars with circles, it also adds a cooldown counter.
  13. Max Payne is cool. Other than that, I'm with Indy, I usually play as characters I have made myself.
  14. You can't say that. Guitar and dancing are two different things; how you can compare the two, I don't understand. Secondly, several successful guitarists were self-taught, for example Ritchie Blackmore, Mark Knopfler, Marty Friedman among others, and last time I checked, they're doing pretty well. Learning how read music is essential, whether it be tabs or notation, and after you've mastered that, the possibilities are endless. As long as you keep playing devotedly, and practice, practice, practice there's really no need for a tutor. I'd advice you to read some basic lessons and tips on the internet (finger-placement, scales, picking up and down etc), as it will only help you progress faster and help you understand how the instrument works, as well as the different techniques and how they work.
  15. Not always. I was taught tabs.
  16. Go for it. Be sure to follow the guide I linked to that explained step-by-step how to activate your account with the beta key etc. And for the EU people choosing the Northmoor server, just letting you know that it is the server with the most issues at the moment; lag and thelike. However, they're working on it. So unless you have a mortal fear of lag (which I didn't experience as a nuisance yesterday), go with this server, it would be fun(ner) if we all played on the same one.
  17. The US and EU people don't/can't play on the same servers, no. Secondly, it seems like it is more or less an "unofficial" open beta right now. Anybody who wants to can get a beta key.
  18. Final Fantasy VII, Oblivion and Morrowind. The ones for Morrowind and Oblivion just enhances the gaming experience so much, it's fantastic.
  19. Christ, I hate missing and pressing Ctrl-W when trying to hit Shift-W. I accidentally closed down a lengthy reply to this. I'll cut it short(er): I'm not entirely sure what you mean by skills. If you mean professions, or what in LoTRO is called vocations, I explained it in my OP. But you knew that already. So I suppose you mean skills such as (WoW) defense, parry, sword, dagger etc. I'm not entirely sure on this, and I can't find any articles on it either. But, what I could gather from my 2hr of playing the game, there are no skills like the ones mentioned above, per se. They don't work as they do in WoW anyway. The skills seem to be your "combat actions"; either "active" ones (which you press a keymapped button to perform) or "passive" ones (which are always active, in the background). You buy all these skills from your respective class trainer (even the sword, bow, crossbow skills). And by performing the skills (for example Shield Blow) X amount of times, you advance in that skill. You actually see how many times you have to perform each action in order to advance in it. I might add, that that is how the "rank" system works as well. For example, I had to kill 30 spiders to get the title "Spider-foe". So now I am "Azvareth, Spider-foe". :D You can basically get a "rank" for every little thing you do in the game. Even discovering new places. However, I'm not sure how it works with the passive skills. You might not need to level those "skills". Anyway, that's as good of an explanation I can give on skills right now, me being a mere level 6 and all. As for the combat system. It is similar to WoW, in the sense that there are action bars that are keymapped. One difference is, that all this "button mashing" we're used to in WoW is non-existant in LoTRO. You only have to press a keymapped button once, and it will be put in "queue". However you can't put more than one action in queue, at a time. There are cooldowns, although the skills I have at the moment only have cooldowns of 6 seconds at the most. Other than that, yeah, you wouldn't notice much difference from WoW. Oh except one thing, for Guardians at least, we use Morale (mana/energy/rage) to "power" our different combat actions - and seriously, it has never run out for me. But without it, a fight would take twice as long. So yeah, things like that are a bit different. You don't appear to have to plan all your moves to prevent your mana/energy (maybe not rage) from running out and/or to deal as much damage-output as you possibly can with the amount you have, like you do in WoW. The more efficient combat actions might require more Morale though, or perhaps, the required Morale to perform each action is increased as you advance in them. *shrug* Hope that helped a bit. If it didn't, please specify a bit more. Oh yeah, when choosing servers, pick Northmoor. :)
  20. How much do your gamecards cost? You have to take into account that when buying gamecards, they add like ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5~ to the initial fee. Sigh, I wish we'd just get a confirmation from Codemasters/Turbine on the real fee.
  21. I got my beta key. :) For those interested in the beta, follow this guide. New beta keys are being added daily it seems, because I couldn't get one yesterday. First impressions? Well, I can only speak about the earliest stages in the game, since my Man guardian is only level 5. I just finished the "introductory chapter" everybody needs to do. However, I can safely say that the screenshots and movies don't do it any justice at all. It looks great. Especially the water. And the way your character looks and moves could be compared to the KoTOR series. Simply excellent. I'm really looking forward to check out the bigger cities like Bree and Rivendell. I was afraid the combat system would be very slow, but really, it takes as much time to kill mobs on my level, as it did with my first WoW character when he was the same level - only difference is you don't have to deal quite as many blows (using WoW as an example here because its combat system is generally considered to be fast paced). Speaking of combat, the visual and sound effects are great (I absolutely love the shield blow animation and sound effect). I'm also positively surprised by the quests, they've been very enjoyable so far. The only negative things I have to say would be, that the user interface is way too small. I had a hard time distinguishing the different combat buttons. And the user interface overall is pretty ugly; black buttons with a dark-blue glow, very thin text and it's overall not very userfriendly. Feels like you're playing some sci-fi game from the '90's. Also, the game is a bit buggy (for example, when you jump... on the way down your character kinda lags). And lastly, the character creation, while it has some very original features, it also lacks in the "face" department. There are really only a few faces that look alright, so I found it hard to make a "personalized" and original character while at the same time feel like, hey this is a character I could see myself playing. I also miss a keymap function for unsheathing your weapons. :P However, I'm sure Codemaster/Turbine will adress most of these issues, especially the user interface and the bugs, so I'm not worried. So yeah, you can now ask more questions about the gameplay etc., if you want, and not just the "overall features". :P
  22. True, this thread is an exception. I wasn't just talking about this thread though.
  23. Yeah, I figured that's how it would work. Thanks for answering.
  24. Exactly. Me and my mates played Halo 1 weekly for about 3 years. The multiplayer is just, plainly put, pretty excellent, there's no denying that. Who cares about the singleplayer and its lame level-designs (which I agree with wholeheartedly). The multiplayer is where it's at, and the leveldesigns on the multiplayer maps, IIRC, were all pretty unique. Mainly talking about the first Halo now, as we never played Halo 2 that much. And Nadril, no offence but, as soon as the subject of Halo comes up in any thread, you seem to always be right there whining how excruciatingly terrible it is: and repeating the same reasons over and over again. It's alright man, we get it. You don't like Halo.
  25. Would it be possible to cancel my subscription now, and then resume it later on (in a few months or weeks)? Let's say I have 10 days left before they charge money from my CC again, and I would cancel it - is there some kind of "resume subscription"-thing, and upon clicking it, I would still have my 10 days left before the chargin'? And haha, that gear matching thing is laughable. Come on Blizzard, stop trying to please all the carebears. I hope it's a joke.
