  1. Mm, okay, I'll happily take that bonus XP over a BXP Weekend (though it's not like I was going to cancel my subscription if I didn't get bonus xp in some form). Er, putting a price on that cosmetic crap? Underhanded sales tactic I haven't seen from Jagex before. Boo @ sounding like an infomercial. Choose your Fate, eh? Sounds like shit. Dislike. (And my guess for the "have a chance at" whatever? SoF. Clearly.) I can understand lack of much content due to EoC and all, but making a text-only infomercial to keep subscriptions through the next two months is a bit much, in my opinion. Still, I'll probably enjoy my time here regardless, especially when I get the bonus xp. (The cosmetic crap will be thrown in my costume room if it can be, or destroyed if it can't, because I dun play Fashionscape.)
  2. I'm guessing you have Adblock? It blocks the 200rc banner. Disable it for that page and you can grab your free stuff, then re-enable it if the remaining ads on the page bother you. (Also, the Thrifty title is free, you just have to push the buttons but it doesn't take any cash or rc, so you may wanna nab that while you're there.)
  3. In addition to not clicking on any links in a Runescape e-mail (you should always be able to navigate there from the Runescape home page anyway), it's helpful for Jagex if you forward phishing e-mails like these to the address they have set up for it: [email protected]. (And feel free to take a gander at the Runescape Wiki Page set up for exactly this.)
  4. I'd go for that, Platinum, though I'd be fine if they just removed the buyable spins and left the rest of SoF.
  5. Okay, got the store open now. There's a couple packages, like with SoF spins. The basic package is 200 Runecoins for $5, so two and a half cents for 1rc. (Other packages include: 420rc for $10, 900rc for $20, 2400rc for %50, 5200rc for $100.) The stuff in the store ranges from titles for 18rc to the Assassin package (full armor set, weapon, home teleport animation, title, and emote) for 1620rc. One thing I noticed: The "Thrifty" title is free (0rc) for anyone who wants it, at least for now.
  6. Well, I'm a bit worried about them introducing content that gives an advantage to players who blow cash on the game (as the SoF already does, but much more directly via Solomon's shop), but I don't think that's likely to happen very soon. I think Jagex knows they're pushing their limits with this as it is. Could it happen farther down the road? Yeah, and I won't be too surprised if it does, I just don't see it in the immediate future. As it is right now, I'd definitely like them to take out the xp/gp/item rewards from SoF and put in Runecoins or the like to keep it from being a pay-to-win feature, or remove buyable spins altogether, but I'm not terribly upset about that. I don't know that I'll spend much in Solomon's store myself (I can't get the thing to load, actually), but I have no problem with others doing so since it's just cosmetics. And who knows, maybe something in there will catch my eye and I'll blow some cash on it - Lord knows I do that enough with video games. I really like the new customization interface, especially for titles. I'd like to see some other ones added into it, though, like the TzHaar and Vyre titles, so that it can truly be a complete list rather than a mostly-complete list.
  7. Yeah, this has been around for a few weeks already (and at least been mentioned in another thread, if not already having a dedicated thread), so inl8. Also, no one is "making" you do anything - you don't have to push the button to watch the ad for a spin. And hey, if another ad generates more revenue for Jagex to keep the game running, I'm cool with that.
  8. Yeah, I originally thought Ard-gun (and Al-KHAR-id, not Al-khar-EED, and Burth-up, not Bur-thorpe). When they released a BtS video that included pronouncing Ardougne. :P
  9. Could've gotten a few others at an evil tree and taverly bank, but didn't feel like doing so since those were all planned meetings.
  10. From yesterday, in between cave runes and before I got that fire cape... And I had this happen at least three times: Fortunately the 180 couldn't walk through the 360, so I just killed the 90 fast and then it was fine. Today, during my duo slayer time with Tranquil, he got a d chain drop from dusties! It was awesome! I didn't think to take a screenie while we were actually there (but he might have), so here's one with it sitting in my bank: I borrowed it till we finished that task, because I was just using rune plate, and dchain has like +10 to most def stats over rune plate. I gave it back shortly thereafter. And then... (at hellhounds) All in all, a frustrating but very rewarding week thus far.
  11. Yes, you get some normal slayer points with duoing, but only about half what you would if you solo'd (seems to vary based on who got more kills between the two of you). Only the block list of the person who actually gets the task is used, and you can get a task without both people being present. You can't get a task from a slayer master that either of you can't use due to low slayer or combat levels (and it just tells you that, it doesn't assign a solo task). If you wander too far away from your partner, or if one of you leaves to bank or the like, the kills you make won't count towards your parter's task total, and vice versa - thus it's entirely possible for one person to finish a co-op task before the other. And I gotta say that duo-cannoning banshees and hellhounds is freaking awesome. Especially with one person d-claw-speccing and the other ice bursting.
  12. After about four days and five full unsuccessful runs, I finally beat him.
  13. Fool! You cannot snipe someone who has already said "Snipe"!
  14. QFC: 16-17-596-63866939 So maybe not. Have to wait and see.
  15. guh! >.< Dislike!
  16. Hmm, there seems to be a problem with the basic uploader. Can you go to the Gallery upload page again, and choose "Try our advanced uploader (requires Flash 9)", then go back to the upload page again and it should ask you to reselect the album again, but this time it should look different and the upload should go through. That seems to work (and I facepalmed for not seeing that option on my own). Thanks! Edit: Well in that case, I'll take back that facepalming.
  17. Mmm, very nice upgrade. Thanks, Mage! I notice that I can now add just my month and day for my birthday without being told I have to enter the year or enter nothing at all. Yay! I like having others know when it's my birthday, just not exactly how old I am. And woo for the Gallery being open! But I can't seem to upload anything to my newly-created album... it's an allowed filetype (.jpg) that's definitely not exceeding file size (it's just 19KB), so I'm not sure what's going wrong. Help?
  18. This. I use the SoF because it has some very nice things, namely the xp lamps. I don't think I'd keep any huge gp award from the SoF if I won it, though, or if I did I'd keep it in a separate stack (buy shards or something). I wanna earn my first 200m cashpile, heh.
  19. I rofl'd. Oh, and I'm apparently a wooly. Whatever that is.
  20. Probably has just been training prayer all this time. But seriously, he did say he was training on the ogres at the Training Grounds. And of course we wouldn't be able to talk to him if he were in active combat. Kinda curious to see what his level will be after EOC, for a more direct view into his stats. Ooh, has anyone thought of using Stat Spy on him? There's a thought. Wish I hadn't claimed all the lamps, now, lol.
  21. Agreed. However, I'm guessing we won't get a good, real, storyline quest until after the combat update, and I wasn't exactly surprised when this was more of the witty fun-style quests. but as far as those go, it wasn't bad.
  22. Eh, it doesn't look too bad to me. *shrug* I'd guess the ten year cape will use the same criteria as the five year cape. And very few people have had ten years of continuous membership (though I'm coming close).
  23. I'm betting they'll fashion it after the 5-year veteran cape - so some stats but nothing massive, and not recolorable. (Which is perfectly fine with me. I'm not a huge fan of the color customization nonsense, lol.) @Platinum: That's what I'm hoping for, and it sounds like that's what we'll get.
  24. That was a standard Jagex quest: not incredibly difficult, but lots of wit and very entertaining to play. I like the idea of scaling rewards, too; it'd be fun to collect those slowly over time as you leveled up and completed more quests throughout the game, but it's also a nice chunk of xp for those like myself with a quest cape. Solid update, considering they're probably putting most of their effort towards the combat rework.
