  1. Hey guys just looking for a general feeling here, I've yet to try DG at all since I've come back to RS but I've read through a lot of different guides trying to get a feel for it. Would it be advisable for me to try and move along the learning curve quickly by DGing with you guys from the start or is it better for me to try and get a feel for it on my own first?
  2. Today I was chopping ivy behind Varrock castle and having a nice chat with another player. Eventually the topic rolled around to wealth and the other player (who was a lower level than me) was astounded at my "whopping" 20M in the bank. He began to ask me for various tips on money making so I did my best to help out with my lacking knowledge as I've only recently returned to 'Scaping. Then he jokingly asked for 100k (he said he was kidding afterwards) and without a word I went to the bank and returned and gave him 500k with no explanation. Now it was at this point that I expected him to just take it without any gratitude (as would have happened usually in the RS community) but he immediately couldn't stop thanking me. It wasn't even a substantial gift on my part but the response I got made it worth it. I thought this was interesting and makes me want to give the RS community another chance. Perhaps it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.
  3. Thanks for the replies guys. :)
  4. I've been away from Runescape for awhile now, I'd like to say 6+ months but I'm not quite sure possibly longer, and I haven't really gotten back into the flow of things so to say. When I used to do MTK I always put my money in the maple coffers for bird's nests and flax but I feel as if those aren't the best options anymore. I'd like to put some money towards the herbs coffers so that I can more easily raise my herblore (without spending so much money), but I'm not sure what percentage to put into the herbs or what else to put the money in. So please, your suggestions? :)
  5. You have the most epic signature ever. Soviet Mudkipz firing it's lazar

  6. Sad part is.. it used to be able to be done. TB, Sara Strike+Spite, Entangle and a MSB were all one used to need for successful solo hybriding.
  7. You seem like your main goal in RS is to max out and get as much exp as efficiently as possible, which is fine. But that's not everyone's goal, hell I've been playing over 5 years and I'm just about to get my first 99. I just never cared about xp or getting high stats, I did whatever was fun the day I logged in regardless of how efficient it was. Different play styles, different goals Which is why RuneScape is so appealing to a diverse audience. There's so much you can do which is awesome. However as was said before, many people choose to fit into different "niches" in that diversity. And a small minority of those people (to which this topic would apply to) choose to claim that others are "doing it wrong".
  8. I've already quit. And it was due to a combination of going to college, growing bored with the game, and playing more XBox.
  9. I'm really excited about this game. The only Elder Scrolls game I've played is Oblivion and I love it so much. I still can't put it down after almost a year (I entered late into the series). And I doubt I'll stop playing anytime soon. And Skyrim looks amazing! I can't wait.
  10. Yeah, I don't really care that he's an "ex-professional" either. I just that it was nice to see a different point of view. Especially when you consider how many people follow "un-written rules" (especially in PvP, god forbid you eat at over half health -.-). However this type of thinking could apply to other aspects of the game. For example people who don't take advantage of all of their resources and limit themselves to a certain play style, and then flame others for not doing the same.
  11. I haven't posted here in awhile, mostly just a lot of forum reading, but I thought this was worthy of a post. I was linked to an interesting article written by an ex-professional Street Fighter player who discussed the term "scrub" (noob in RuneScape) and to whom it actually applies. I have many opinions about this article myself but I'd rather not leave you guys with an essay. What are your feelings on this article? "A scrub is a player who is handicapped by self-imposed rules that the game knows nothing about. A scrub does not play to win." Here is the article link: http://www.sirlin.net/ptw-book/intermediates-guide.html P.S. I apologize in advance if this article has been posted before, I tried to search for it... but that doesn't always work so well. Enjoy.
  12. Or maybe he should prove himself before running his mouth. Still waiting on my request. Been over a month. :( Long time, no talk, Derek. :) Anyway, I'm also interested in getting more advice about working out/weights. More specifically, supplements as I've been looking into stacking for more gains. Currently I only take pre-workouts and protein supplements (Optimum Whey protein and now trying Syntha-6 and N.O.-Xplode). However I'm contemplating dropping the N.O. and taking creatine before, glutamine after, since it's not recommend to take both before or after since they compete with each other or something like that. I've been doing a lot of research on these type of supplements and they seem to be effective I just wanted to know if anyone has any experience with them. My roommate swears by his supplements and he has shown me older pictures compared to what he looks like now and there are definitely visible results.
  13. I used to play for "efficiency" until I realized that the fun in completing goals (for me at least) was the process of working towards achievement, and not the achievement itself. So sure it may take me longer than someone playing efficiently to accomplish my goals, but at least I'll have fun doing it my way. That is not to say that someone playing for efficiency isn't having fun, though.
  14. Because for me, saved time inevitably becomes worth more than a few extra GP. And to put this into context I also don't consider myself very high level... and I also haven't played in awhile. Off-topic, is RS worth getting into again? Summer's coming up and CoD/Halo games are losing their luster for me. Just PM me if you actually have an answer because I don't want to draw this topic on random tangents.
  15. That would be unoriginal on Jagex' part. Customer service has been a joke for a long time now.
  16. So I've been an MW2 [bleep] for the past 3 or 4 months (I think?) since it was released. Needless to say, I had fun in the beginning, now it sucks. Broken game, blah, blah, blah.. the usual complaints. CoD4 has done it's duty (no pun intended) in keeping me occupied since then. Though I haven't done any 'Boxing for about a week, school work has come first. Bleh, since I'm not playing any XBox exclusively I thought I'd check up on these forums (I've only done so occasionally) more often. I see a bit has changed/updated in RS as can be expected but I don't know if enough to warrant me becoming a member and playing again. I may for about a month or so just for kicks'n'giggles but we'll see. 'Til next time I suppose. -Envy
  17. Silencers lower damage on all weapons, sniper rifles included. Though in the case of all sniper rifles (which all have the same base damage) the stopping power perk will offset the damage loss of a silenced sniper rifle. In other words: Unsilenced sniper w/o SP = 1 hit kill to head/chest Silenced sniper w/o SP = 2 hit kills anywhere But, silenced sniper w/ SP = 1 hit kill to head/chest So unsilenced w/o SP = silenced w/ SP. And for the record, Akimbo Rangers/1887s are such b/s. No skill required to get kills with them.
  18. It is dropped, not thrown I'm pretty sure.
  19. Just unlocked thermal scope for my Intervention... I don't know if I like it yet. I may prefer ACOG but it might just be because I'm so used to sniping with ACOG on COD4.
  20. How do I get the Ghost emblem? :???:
  21. This is awesome. And by that, I do mean that I am in awe of this quoted post.
