You reach into the can to take out the coin. Unfortunately, you get cut by the filthy, jagged metal of the can and get gangrene. You try to apply relicym's balm, but that only makes the swelling worse. You try putting antipoison on the wound to see if that somehow helps, but you use too much of the drug and it ends up having a toxic effect. Deranged from the overdose, you run into the wilderness raving like a madman. Some pk'ers decide to kill you for fun. One amputates your arm with a dds while the other cauterizes the wound with fire spells. Strangely enough, you are now better off than you were before. You manage to run away from the pk'ers, but unfortunately, the poison in the dagger failed to take hold and counter the toxicity of the antipoison overdose you had earlier. Desperate for food to sustain you a bit longer, you attempt to eat the coin in the hopes that it is made out of chocolate. Unfortunately, you choke on it and die in p2p wilderness. I am f2p and don't plan to get membership anytime in the near future :P

if you're f2p and buy all your ores, then the only way to raise smithing without losing money is smelting bars and selling them if you buy iron 100 each and coal 200 each, you should about break even with iron bars and make 100 gp profit per steel bar

before anyone suggests you go mine coal, i must say that iron is better than coal in many respects i can expect to mine a load of iron, bank it, and return within 5 minutes, but to do the same with coal takes me 10 minutes minimum on a good day (im 84 mining and it usually takes me 10-15 mins to do a load of coal) cash-wise, you can expect to sell large amounts of iron for at least 100 each, whereas coal goes for a maximum 200 each exp-wise, every iron ore gives 35 exp each, while coal only gives 50 exp each (if you consider that i can mine at least two iron in the time it takes to mine one coal, thats 70 exp versus 50 exp)

i wont argue with you about the maple logs, but charcoal is obtainable on f2p east of the red dragon isle, around the chaos dwarves (and the lessers just a bit north of the chaos dwarves), there are some dead trees that give you charcoal when cut
