  1. How about you write your own software and use that instead? Things cost money for a reason. Or use open source equivalents, like GIMP with addons for photoshop-like features and interface. Pretty sure you can buy Photoshop Elements with a student discount at around $90 or buy the extended version of CS5 for about $200 with a discount. IIRC even high school students are eligible for a student discount on software from Adobe. You just call them up to order and they'll ask you why you are interested in buying it. I just gave them a generic reason that it's a hobby of mine and that I thought about maybe going into graphic design (okay, the latter isn't true, but it's not like they'll know). That's all it took (did have to send them a copy of an official transcript, which was kind of annoying but still doable). Just ask for it for Christmas or your birthday if you want it so badly. Hell, I paid $200 out of pocket for Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended Version, and I don't regret it at all. IMO, it was worth the price, and I really love the software. I also don't get why people would download 3TB of music and videos through torrents. I've gotten by with using gift cards every Christmas and birthday for purchasing music from iTunes. Then again, I also watch a lot of YouTube. God forbid they take that away.
  2. It's the iPhone 4S that did him in. But yeah, sucks that he died. I like Apple and their products.
  3. I'd have to say Hitler because: 1) Race 2) He's crazy as all [bleep], even more so than Mussolini
  4. To be fair, I don't see any sort of contradiction with having products produced by corporations and protesting against corporate influence in politics. I haven't heard of any protesters actually saying that they would wish that all corporations would disappear. It just seems that people are pissed off about how American politics work (which is indeed fairly corrupt). And with the economy in its current shape, it's very understandable for people to be pissed. They view Obama's bailout for Goldman Sachs and other companies as basically an excuse for corporations that couldn't give a damn about U.S. citizens to make a profit from taxpayer money. Now, personally, I do kind of laugh at how these protests lack unity of a cause. It's almost a joke in that case. Still, I think many of them do have a good reason to protest and see this as a sign that the United States has a LOT of serious problems lying ahead if it continues its current course.
  5. Over the past month, there have been a series of protests against Wall Street and the corporate influence in American politics. One of the recent controversies was the arrest of about 700 protesters on the Brooklyn Bridge. What do you think about the protests? Are you participating in them yourself? Do you believe that this may be a sign of unrest to come in the United States during these tough economic times?
  6. OT: That guy's a horrible public speaker.
  7. I'm glad none of my professors make me use significant figures when solving a math problem. Just set my calculator on Float 3 and I'm golden. Although I expect that my chemistry professors will be Nazis when it comes to significant figures.
  8. Box Parliament in with flags. "Unofficial Flag Pride Day" -> camp Parliament for a week.
  9. 1) Get fingerprints off card 2) Find person 3) Tear them a new [wagon]
  10. With "the south, I'll assume you mean the South in the USA? aka the former rebel states from the civil war? I know my basics of USA history, but not every little bit of it, despite my fascination with history... Yes.
  11. I don't see any problem with it. Of course, there are the morons who think that if they date/marry a person they have to adopt a stereotypical persona of that person's race (e.g. a white woman marrying a black man and suddenly having a taste in rap music and wearing dark-tone makeup and wearing weaves in their hair). I guess it has more to do with people wanting to fit in since there's still somewhat of a taboo against intermarriage, especially in the South.
  12. Pointless bill. Now, if you wanted to be a major dick and show why this bill sucks, go fly about 500 flags in front of your house.
  13. They'd have to get past guard kitty first What's wrong with your cat.
  14. Is this why Armadyl battlestaff is crashing?
  15. To whom it may concern: I would really, really love a subforum of my own called Andvari's Playground with me as mod. I promise to rule with an iron fist. With my utmost regard, Your Favourite Poster
  16. Haha, nice. How could they do this?
  17. That test wasn't too hard to be honest. It was just basic graphing. The hardest thing on the exam was a problem on Difference Quotients [ f(x+h)-f(x)/h ], and that was pretty simple. Anyway I'm gonna get off and take a shower and go to bed. Wish me luck on the ecology exam results. :)
  18. How's college going? (Seriously, I want to know, I'd like to know how difficult the average US university is) Pretty much finished my first round of exams. Have a psychology exam in 2 weeks. Scored the highest grade on my botany exam, and I made a perfect score on my algebra exam... I took an ecology exam and barely finished it in time since it was all essay questions. Could've fit a lot more into my answers, but I think I did pretty well. I'm anxious about going to class tomorrow and seeing what I made. I'm still planning to go to med school. School's pretty interesting. Tomorrow evening I'm going to a public lecture from Wim Vermaas, an apparently well-known professor from Arizona who does research on using cyanobacteria (photosynthetic microorganism) as biofuel. Going to this lecture will get me bonus points for botany (not that I need them, but whatever). Pretty much my schedule. I'm busy all the time; lots and lots of studying (about 40+ pages of notes for botany, 30+ pages of notes for ecology). I was going to call a friend of mine today and just shoot the breeze, but I forgot.
  19. You guys have issues.
  20. Can people just not like something and leave it at that? :\/ Also what is this that I hear about you guys threatening to kill yourselves or some retarded [cabbage] like that?

  22. Drowtales sucks because it has furries in it...
  23. Then why was Hegemony and the Zombie Survival Thread moved there? They are clearly not roleplays. Yes, they are.
  24. What if the neutrinos did arrive early but did NOT actually travel faster than the speed of light? What if they just used a shortcut through space (i.e. something like a wormhole)?
