OK. "Why are people so negative about riots?" - Riots in RS never work. Nobody voted for Jagex to be in control. As such, Jagex are not worried about losing the next election if they do not please a vociferous minority. You have two choices 1. Carry on playing RS 2. Protest by removing your subscription. If enough people adopt choice 2, Jagex will care, although I can't see that happening. Most of the so-called "rioters" go back to the game after their 5 minutes of spamming. Very few have the courage of their convictions and leave, which is a shame as we could have a bit of peace and quiet. So, "rioters", have the guts to put your money where your mouth is, leave and never darken these doorsteps again; or else play the game and realise that Jagex own, run and control every part of RS. Hope this helps Teeg

When I first started playing RS (some time ago now!), I promised myself that I would never speak to anyone with "poo", "poop" or "pee" in their names. I can proudly say I have never broken that promise. Teeg

I gave up all hope of a sensible debate with you, sir, when you wrote this in another thread. Teeg

"Noob" isn't a level, or how long you've played, it's an attitude. An attitude I'm afraid that you, sir, have. Sums it up really, sheesh. Teeg EDIT: Grr, spelling

I'm a bit confused with the above. To "rant" proactively is, surely, to rant before "reading the Development Diary". True rants MUST be done reactively, i.e. trying out an update before complaining, using "supportive examples" and "suggested alternatives". That, by definition, is reactive. On topic - Great thread, I have seen many of those types of ranters (myself included sometimes, I'm afraid) Teeg

I'm not as intelligent as you, and I'm certainly no economist, but the above confused me. Free, but with controls?? By adding adjectives you seem to try to get around the anomaly. What is "essentially free"? is that like "slightly pregnant", or "nearly unique"?? "Reasonable controls"? Reasonable for whom? The government? The people? A balance of the two, a sort of happy medium? Teeg We have a free market in USA, but the Government imposes laws and taxes. Well, thanks for that, although you didn't answer any of my questions. I'll precis:- What is "essentially free"? What are "reasonable controls"? Who decides what is reasonable? Teeg

Alternatively, Jagex could be adding extra rares into the game by these surreptitious methods. Could be a very good money sink. Just a thought Teeg

I can't agree with this, especially the Rule 1 argument. People (myself included) utter the occasional expletive when surprised or angry. To actually type it out shows more premeditation, thinking about what you're doing before doing it. Having a "statute of limitations" will only allow serial rule-breakers a way back. Yes I've heard the saying "people can change", I've also heard the saying "a leopard doesn't change its spots"!! Don't break the rules - simple as. Teeg

What have we learned from this scenario? 1. 50k Yews @ 340 each yields 1.7 mill and not the 17 mill it would have when I was in school (also see 350, 360 and 370) 2. Player E sells 200k logs @ 380 each for 7.5 mill, when he could have made 76 mill in my day. 3. The author had better brush up on his maths if he wants to make any money by merching.

"Runescape : an education that kids don't need?"
Teeg replied to supanova's topic in General Discussion
Hmm. I think others have already replied for me, if you are going to quote, I believe citing the source is the done thing. As for the "bellow-average" community, I believe "below" is the word you're looking for, oh and "incomporating"="incorporating". Anyone from the "local trash" would know that! regards Teeg -
"Runescape : an education that kids don't need?"
Teeg replied to supanova's topic in General Discussion
Why, oh why do people take quotes from the internet (in this case from the American Renaissance News) and pass it off as their own? *On Topic* - I originally read Truthscape some time ago, and, although Qeltar makes some good points, I do believe he goes OTT on a number of issues. -
Have to agree with this. Rarest item in RS, either respect or manners. Teeg

Prejudice - Yes Discrimination - Yes Racism - No The fact is EVERYONE is prejudicial and/or discriminatory in real life. Certain forms of prejudice are inborn and form part of our defence system. Other forms are learned over time. Not all prejudice/discrimination is bad/unhealthy. Teeg (discriminating against hobgoblins since 2002)

Is misspelling of words a crime in RuneScape?
Teeg replied to WiivilYoshi's topic in General Discussion
The little things seem to annoy me more. Confusion of certain words especially There and they're and their have and of (for goodness sake, how can you confuse these??) it's and its than and then I see this so often in the forums (or is it fora?), it can't be a quick typing thing, they're mostly the same length. Is it laziness or basic ignorance? regards Teeg -
Now don't start that old "It was much better in the old days" nonsense. This has been going on for a very long time. Jagex stated ages ago that there was no such thing as arrow stealing. It's up to the ranger to pick up the arrows in the alotted time. You don't, you can leave them for somebody else. Then train on something you can kill in one minute. I don't pick up arrows that other people have dropped, but ranting about people who do won't change anything. It's not against the rules, they are fair game for anyone. cheers Teeg

*Sigh* I understand the concept of "risk v reward", I just don't understand why people apply it to runescape when, to my knowledge, Jagex have not. I can spend hours fighting high level monsters with NO risk to myself. I can cut magic trees, fish sharks, range dragons, make potions etc., etc. with NO risk to myself. Jagex have added new areas for easier skilling e.g. monkfish, with NO risk. Why is it then, that only runecrafting falls into this category of "risk v reward"? Ignoring the facts against you "as for PC, I'm not even going to start" is tantamount to burying your head in the sand. It goes against what you're saying so you pretend not to see it. The theory is specious at best. It sounds like I'm having a go at you personally. That is not the case, but I've heard this argument about "risk v reward" from many people in the past, but strangely not from Jagex. regards Teeg

Where do you get this "risk v reward" nonsense. You probably saw someone else mention it and thought it sounded like a good quote. I hate this type of sound-bite, which has no basis in truth. Did Jagex use it? I can't remember that. If there is a "risk v reward" culture in Runescape, where does Pest Control fit in? NO "risk", GOOD (was VERY GOOD) "reward"? Answers on a postcard please! Whilst I don't like the idea of getting rid of the protection prayers completely, I think that the prayer level to use them should be drastically increased. Teeg

Scammers... Do they serve some kind of educational purpose?

Is misspelling of words a crime in RuneScape?
Teeg replied to WiivilYoshi's topic in General Discussion
Whilst I agree with much that has been said here concerning certain abbreviations, the original question was one of spelling and not grammar. 1. See you tomorrow 2. c u 2moro are both grammatically correct, also neither contains an accidental misspelling. I was always lead to believe that language was a means of communication. Over the years many English words have altered their spelling, does that mean they are now incorrect? Can you understand both 1 and 2 above? If so, then language has done its job, communication has been made and understood and everyone is happy (except the pedant who requires everyone to spend half their RS life typing correctly) Having said all this, I have to agree with the posters who complain about "leet" and changing one letter in a word without making it shorter (e.g. kool), even though, as in my above premise, they can be understood. As you can see, I have some ambiguity about the debate, but in answer to the original question is misspelling in RS a crime: Short answer - no, but. Long answer - yes, however. I think it depends what mood I'm in. :-k Teeg -
Will gold farmers, be the downfall of RuneScape?
Teeg replied to brave's topic in General Discussion
I'm sorry, I don't understand that comment at all. It will take the same amount of time to get to 99 irrespective of prices, surely? Anyway, do macroers/gold farmers take resources from others? I don't think they do. If I'm fishing, I catch fish as quickly with nobody else at my spot as I do if 30 others were there. If I'm woodcutting, the trees spawn fast enough (magics excepted) for me not to worry how many others are there. If I'm buying fish/logs, the more autoers/farmers on-line the cheaper the goods. If I'm selling fish/logs, no matter the price, I'm making pure profit anyway. I will agree however I'll be making less profit if there are more autoers, but it's still pure profit if I gather the resources myself. *Dons anti-flame shield and drinks 4 anti fire pots* Teeg -
There is No Point in Having Two RS Accounts
Teeg replied to Foodfight13's topic in General Discussion
Well I have 2 other accounts. A f2p lvl 10 or 12 (haven't been on in a while) I keep just for the holiday items. It's fun pulling out my yo-yo (ooer missus), or Christmas items and showing off to higher but newer accounts who call me a noob. I also have a lvl 3 account in RS1. I just log in for an hour or so every month for nostalgic reasons. Teeg -
First the Wilderness Ditch, Now This?(May Someone Lock This)
Teeg replied to Dogman112018's topic in General Discussion
I couldn't agree more, that doesn't mean, though, that you'd put danger in that person's way on purpose. Slightly off topic, but as you're quoting Nietzche, he also said "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster" Relevance to RS community these days? -

I also think that Sly's "hot stove" analogy is flawed. By telling the child not to touch the stove, you are not exonerated from any responsibility if the child then burns his/herself. I would begin to question your parenting techniques if you allowed a child too young to know any different, to be in the vicinity of a hot stove without supervision. Would you, for example, tell a child not to drink a bottle of bleach, then leave the bottle where the child could reach it? I hope not! You would put it out of reach, where the child would not be tempted. This, I believe, is what Jagex have done. Put the whole "password" thing out of reach. No temptation, no scamming, a safer world for all. Teeg
