I think these forums are more tight-knit that others. A decent few people go by first names rather than usernames and we all get along for the most part. I think the biggest things that keep us from being closer is the no personal info/pics rules and that there are quite a few people in here who only stop by now and then rather than often like some of us.

My friends can be jerks and I can be a jerk to them. Luckily, it's only playful. When it comes down to serious issues I know I can always count on a close group of friends and visa versa. I have a group of 6 friends who I can count on for anything. I have multiple others I'd turn to if my closest group couldn't help me, but it would be harder for me to talk to them.. ^Proactive was some great stuff for me until my body became immune to it. Now it just makes my acne worse. I got a prescription of doxycycline from my doctor. I'm suppose to take it twice a day but I only take it once. If I don't eat enough with it I will get sick and throw up. And I don't eat enough in the mornings to take it so I only take it after supper. There's another prescription I could get but I have to finish this one up first.. It's called tetracycline. Also, good ol' soap and water helps ;)

I think it's great and all if you believe Christ is your savior, but instead of using your sig to show what religion you belong to just go to church and be a good Christian. As I looked through a certain thread in Off Topic, it came to my attention that there are a large number of athiest/agnostic folks on these forums. Now I don't have a problem with you accepting Christ as your savior, some of my family members have. However I am agnostic and if you get into it with me, I'll ask you to prove the existence of God. When you can't, you'll look quite the fool, won't you? I think it's best we just leave religion out of our sigs. It causes enough controversy as it is.

You make some good points here about being about to find someone with 2 things. However, like wakka said, we're only talking about a photo here. Most people in Off Topic know my first name (and some know my last), anyone can find my location, almost everyone knows my age, and a decent few users have seen pictures of me. Also, anyone who has added me on Facebook can get any detail they want on me (street address, phone number, political views, school, ect.). I don't have a problem giving out these details of myself because I know how to defend myself if a pedophile were to approach me. I honestly don't think they're going to come after a 16 year old male that's spent most of his life playing sports and staying in great physical condition. Any pedo who thinks they're going to try something with me is in for a painful lesson (thank you U.S. Marine Corps training class). It wouldn't be so wise for people such as Issy to hand out her street address because she's 12 years old and there's no way she can take on a fully grown man by herself. So I suppose giving out personal info deals more with your sex and age than just being a forum user.

The biggest problem I see is someone having a grudge against another person so they use the new feature to hide their posts. Now say there aren't many mods online at the time or they're busy with other things. Those posts that probably don't even contain keyloggers/viruses are hidden until a mod can get around to checking them. Also, I mostly post in Off Topic and even with all the links I see, I've never gotten a virus/keylogger. Is it really that big of a threat around here that we need a special feature for it?

That is when the post should be locked, and the author get sent a pm saying something like... "I am willing to unlock your thread if you write a decent title/description for it and PM it to me so I can edit it in and unlock your thread." Imagine locking many topics a day and sending tons of messages to the authors. It's just easier to have them posted in a single thread. The relationship sticky is 35 pages long. It contains not only relationship advice but questions/opinions on other things that go along with relationships. At first I was somewhat against the sticky but now it's proven to be a good idea. As long as there are relationshipse, people will have problems. As long as people have problems, I will be willing to listen and do my best to help.

Eel, you're quite right about the Myspace and sites of that sort. They're far more dangerous than a gaming fansite. If pedos are looking around here for kids who will easily give out any info they're asked, they're not very good at what they do. Now I'd also like to bring up the fact that the majority of TIF users are spread out around the United States and Europe. If you think about it, that's a lot of area for a fairly small number of people (mostly referring to Off Topic). What are the chances a pedo is going to end up in the same town as someone on these forums? It seems quite rare to find someone living in the same town as you around here. So if you're not simply giving out your home address, you're pretty safe. A pedo isn't going to find out anything other than what you look like from your picture.

You know, the longer that thread in Off Topic stays open, the more it angers me that Cad was banned for the rl pics on the frappr. When I read that rule, I understand it as you're allowed to post them but they don't recommend it. So why is it that Cad was banned for something that isn't actually against the rules?

Would you really think that would happen? I mean like MSN/Yahoo/AIM usernames aren't exactly hard to get a hold of around here. On top of that, locations, ages, etc. are frequently posted. Someone doesn't turn to pedophilia just by seeing a picture. Yeah, there's a whole topic that goes against that rule (Get To Know Me, Get To Know You - or whatever it's called) and the mods haven't locked it. In fact, they're opening posting in it. Seriously, most people in Off Topic know my name, age, location, email, ect and some people have even seen pictures of me. But go ahead, try to find me. I've never given out my street address to anyone (other than those on Facebook) and I don't live in a small town. I think we should be allowed to post our rl pics because, like you said, someone isn't going to turn to being a pedophile just by seeing a picture. Also, what does a picture do for most of us than let us put a face with a personality we've come to know. As stated before, if someone knows you in real life and sees your picture on here.. Well too bad, they already know what you look like so if they're a pedophile and they're after you, you were screwed before you posted your pic.
