Why finish them?
I don't think it's so much that people want them finished, but that people would rather have Jagex continue the old storylines that have been around for years and have been speculated to death rather than start new ones. Saying you want Jagex to finish the stories, the way I see it, is the best way to promote this as it is likely to at least push Jagex into compromising on the issue and meeting everyone half-way. In this case, "half-way" means continuing these old story lines and, as such, people get what they wanted. It's kind of like how interest groups work in real life: the moderates of a group generally don't care enough to get involved, so the more radical people push for what they want, find they can't get it, and compromise so that they at least get something. That's my theory, anyway.

Hunter Question
I do not believe having clothing items other than the 'camoflauge' makes a difference. As for what to hunt, red salamandars are the fastest exp until 80 at which point red chins become number one (although I have also heard that the pawya and grenwalls in Letya are better exp if you know what you're doing; personally, I'd just stick with red chins for the extra money). If you want to get more money, go ahead and start hunting red chins at 63 (or do what I did and start hunting red chins at level 70), but don't expect to get any extreme experience rates from it until you hit 80.

Circus Points Submission Thread
Hey, I just had an epiphany! Because I only got 289 points for my mage event, I think it's safe to say that the actual point values of the level 20, 40, 60, and 80 events do not have the extra .5-point I thought they did and that they were, in fact, rounded by the programmer in the source code. I say this because, even with the extra points added on for the second trick, it came out as if each lvl 80 trick was worth exactly 102 points. Had the base points for the tricks been 102.5, the point total would have been 290. I love it when I have epiphanies. :XD:

Circus Points Submission Thread
Yeah, and with the information from Frigginacky (thank's man!! ), I think what I'll do next week is test to see if the 10-point bonus is the same for all levels (the fact that doing just dumbbell alchemy gave 177 instead of 187 shows that there is, in fact, a 10-point bonus) and then confirm the two remaining trick base points. Great job!!! not only did you confirm the preferred trick, but also removed another 10 possible preferred emotes for both ranged and agility in Draynor. Also, is anyone keeping track of all the emotes that have already beent ried ineach event?

Circus Points Submission Thread
I think next week, one of us can look for emotes and one can work on the points system. The one doing the emotes can do what you did this week and the other can try doing two different tricks of the same level* in one event (to look for a 10-point bonus and possibly narrow the search for that event's preferred trick down to two**) and then confirm the points for the level 60 and 40 tricks. Unless, of course, we can get someone else into the mix, in which case we can have two people working on the emotes and one doing the tricks as outlined above.*** * It should probably be two tricks of a level other than 80 to allow for the possibility of confirming both the theory that you do get extra points for not doing the same thing twice and my personal theory that the amount of extra points is set at 10 no matter what level trick you do. ** In which case, this person would use another event to look for a 10-point bonus and then confirm either the lvl 40 or 60 points. If they both end up giving points indicating a preferred trick, then I think we should become suspicious of this theory. *** I say two on emotes and one on tricks because we do not yet know the basic points system when dealing with multiple tricks in an event (although I doubt it will be hard to find out once the next circus comes along), but do know the points system for doing multiple emotes in an event.

The Circus Point System (Guide Now Up!)
Just to clarify what we need*, if anyone wants to help, all you have to do is start the magic event, do ONE of the two specified tricks (alchemy dumbells OR teleport dumbells), end the event, and report how many points you received on this thread. Also note that it is preferred that, while doing this, that you do NOT wear any circus clothing. Even if you don't use all three events in helping us, just doing what I outlined above and then doing the agility and ranged events like you normally do would be greatly appreciated. *I would do it, but I was the one to stumble upon the fact that one of the two tricks gave 187 points (instead of the normal 102) and have, as such, already done my circus for the week

Circus Points Submission Thread
The point difference was actually 85 (could there possibly be a 10-point bonus for not doing the same thing twice?), but, either way, I would agree that it is likely a preferred trick. I might be able to get someone to try it, but I can't guarantee anything. Also, you can update the topic in General Discussion so that it says there is a loss in points for doing the same trick twice in a row (check my agility event points).

So how's the new CEO doing so far?
Mod MMG is doing good so far. The small upgrades/fixes were well overdue and the new openness of Jagex seems promising. However, I would like to see more old content (as in useless areas/cities) updated so that people have a reason to use them. All the small fixes are great, don't get me wrong, but I just feel that, in a "year of upgrades" (or whatever he called it), thye should be upgrading large pieces of content as well as small ones. Admittedly, he hasn't had much time to go after these sorts of upgrades and they are working on revamping BH. I just want to see much much much more of that sort of thing.

Circus Points Submission Thread
Username: Acenator Location of Circus: Draynor Wearing full circus gear?: no Agility Event Description: 2x small leap (level 60) Agility Event Points: 141 Mage Event Description: 1 teleport dumbells (level 80), 1 alchemy dumbells (level 80) Mage Event Points: 289 Ranged Event Description: 1 lvl 50 shot at target Ranged Event Points: 65 Well, this just mixed things up a bit. It appears doing the same thing twice in a row does cause a slight loss in points for the second one you do (assuming my hypothesized points are correct) and yet, doing two different tricks of the same level gives bonus points (this could either be because of the "varied performance" bit or could be evidence that cities also have preferred tricks as well as emotes (I am surprised that the second lvl 80 trick I did gave 187 points when the first has been confirmed to give 102)). Also, good job on the emotes!

The Contemporary Spellbook
Alright, what are your suggestions then? I would make the mage attack stats something more like this: Contemporary Hat F 6 Contemporary Top F 31 Contemporary Bot F 22 subtotals: 59 Sage Hat P 7 Sage Top P 34 Sage Bottom P 25 Sage Shield P 4 subtotals: 70 Arcanist Hat P 8 Arcanist Top P 37 Arcanist Bottom P 28 Arcanist Shield P 7 subtotals: 80 Of course these also run the risk of being overpowered (especially the F2P ones). If you feel they are, I suggest just removing the shield as that is what caused the larger jumps in stats. Either that or you could bring down level requirements to justify lower stats. So, I'll brainstorm how to incorporate the trapdoor in the RC Guild. Any suggestions from this would be helpful as well. First off, don't put it in the RC Guild. I'd put the trapdoor (or possibly a secret door) in the basement, have it lead down a few flights of stairs, and then open up into a fairly large chamber where there is a bank chest and Grayzag (I'd still leave your original quest start with having to bring Grayzag stuff) waiting for you. From here, Grayzag would tell you that, to be able to prove your worthiness of the spells, you must go through a series of challenge-filled caves (I suck with coming up with good names, so I leave that to you) and collect a bunch of pages with the spells on them (I almost said one spell/page, but that'd make the quest quite long; maybe have it start with 1 spell/page and then increase as you go). The spell pages go in order by level and, if you fail part-way through the caves, you get to keep those pages that you did manage to get and can come back to try for the rest (but you always have to start from the beginning, though). The challenges could be anything from having to figure out how to open a door to get to the page and the entrance to the next room to being attacked by a (high-leveled) monster when you go to grab the page to having the page in a locked chest with some sort of puzzle/riddle as the lock. Sorry about that - I've changed it so that most of the stuff is in hide tags, and only the formatted parts are in code boxes. Eventually I'll make images again, but I'm swamped as it is. Thank you. It's much easier to read now. And don't bother making images containing the spell/equipment descriptions/stats; text works just as good.

The lost city: Arposandra
Even though I couldn't translate the entire thing (see my post on the previous page), I did find out that "arpos" = "rock" and "andra" = "city." Therefore, "Arposandra" = "rock city" (or "city of rock"). Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but crystals are a form of rock or could at least be considered rock. As such, Arposandra could just be what the gnomes call Priffandias (however it's spelled) and the poison wastelands could just be where the gnomes built their lab. Maybe Glouphrie, after leaving the Grand Tree with his small group of followers (or did he have any? :-k I can't remember), went to the elves and managed to convince the majority of them that humans were bad and needed to be taken out. Those elves who disagreed were banished and have been moving around the forest ever since. And that would bring us to where we are today (it's quite far-fetched, I know, but it's possible and it might make for a good story with the right twists and turns added in).

The lost city: Arposandra
Very nice read and good job on collecting all that information! =D> =D> I knew that the elf and gnome quests were close to joining into one giant story, but I had forgotten all the details. I wonder what the gnomish on the acnient page means. I'll go see if I can't translate that for you. EDIT: Unfortunately, the message contains too many words not included in the translation book that you get from Hazelmere and I can't translate it.

Why are we mean to noobs?
My personal definition of "noob" is along the lines of stupid idiot/moron (level has nothign to do with it) and, as such, people like that are generally pretty funny to watch and, obviously, make fun of. "Newbs," on the other hand, I generally consider as players with significantly less experience than myself. These people can also be "noobs," but I try to give them the benefit of the doubt and will treat them just like any other random person until they give me reason to do otherwise.

Something to Ponder On
They might cost 300gp to cast, but that 300gp doesn't leave the game. It usually just changes hands and then whoever's alching brings even more cash into the game. There are 3 ways to bring money into the game: selling things to shops, alching, and getting it from drops (coinshare might also bring money into the game, but I bet it takes more out than it brings in*). Since these are the only three ways and since they've all been around since the beginning (except maybe alching since I don't know what the first spellbook looked like), I would assume they are how all the money got into the game. *Coinshare can bring in money if a coinshare item's price is falling and nobody is buying the coinshared items (since the players who got the drop end up getting more than the item eventually sells for) and it can take money out when prices are stable or rising (since the item sells for more than the players who got the drop received). Since prices generally spend more time stable than falling drastically, I must assume that it takes out more than it brings in. But if you get a z spear drop it doesn't add any money to the economy... When I say drops, I mean coin drops. Obviously, getting an item doesn't bring gp into the game, but if you collect all those coin drops (or even just some of them) you are helping to bring more cash into the game.

[Updated 9 Dec] Reviving Smithing : Divinite
Looks pretty sweet overall. I have just one concern. Since only a limited portion of the extremely high-leveled/rich will be able to get these items, said players will be able to pwn pretty much anyone that doesn't have this equipment. Of course, as time passes, more people will get to where they can make them and prices will lower, but, personally, I could see prices of many of these items starting out at upwards of 1 bill and settling at no lower than 500 mill (especially when it comes to the armor (the hit-reduction is enough to get it over 100 mill, possibly 200 mill, and if the stats are as exceptional as those of the weapons, I can practically guarantee these will be second in price only to the christmas cracker) and with some of the weapons (with the current stats and specs of some of these, I believe 99+ damage hits would be possible(although I guess we do already have some combinations of weaponry that can hit 99+ in a few hits))). Although I guess all of that could go towards them being balanced due to even fewer people being able to get complete sets, but it is still something I felt like pointing out.

Dorgesh-Kaan, Empty No Longer?
I doubt it. There really isn't much to do in the actual city and anyone planning on using the new Bandos Throne Room will probably just make a bunch of tele-orbs to get there. Give it a week or two and the city will be deserted again.

The Contemporary Spellbook
Looks pretty good to me. Although I will say that the quest seems a bit too much along the lines One Small Favor (in that all you really do are chore-like tasks; one fight doesn't offset this*) and your robes need a bit of a stat boost (modern requires 90 magic to wear and yet they give a lower mage attack bonus than ahrim's (ahrim's gives a total of +58 mage attack with only a hood, robetop and robeskirt while full modern only gives +49 while taking the helmet, top, bottom, and sheild slots)). *I don't necessarily say this because I want the quest to be easier. I just want to let you know that, with the way the quest looks right now, most people (probably including myself) aren't going to like it at all. I think that, to make it a bit more entertaining, I would change it so that the wizards at the wizard tower make you go through a gauntlet, hidden underneath the tower, full of traps, puzzles, and, in some parts, monsters. If you can make it through, you are worthy of the spellbook and able to return to fight the monsters in the gauntlet (or maybe have a cash reward for each subsequent time you make it through; somewhat like the Fight Caves). Of course this would mean that it would take longer to code and everything, but I think this would just be amazing and would provide a much easier way of increasing the requirements. EDIT: It's not that it's too hard, but that it's too time-consuming. While Guthix Sleeps took me ~6 hours (possibly longer) to do (using a guide only when I was really stcuck). With 3 hours (minimum) spent at just FoG, I could see this quest surpassing that 6-hour mark way too easily. Also, I would like to suggest that you use a quote box instead of a code box. The green text of the code box makes it hard for some people (myself included) to read it.

I got the entire thing off the RSOF. The quick find code is at the end of the original post if you want to see it there.

Making money
Iron's probably better money since you can mine it much faster and it sells for ~100 each when coal only sells for ~180 each.

Under updated areas
Keldagrim. I only go there for the blast furnace. More profit on mithril and a unorthodox, if not particularly good, method of training. The other definite city is Dorgesh-khan. It seems as though the most beautiful and unique cities are always the least useful. I think a lot has to do with the fact that both Keldagrim and Dorgesh-Khan don't have a teleport spell (Yes, Dorgesh has the orbs, but who has those in large numbers in his bank?). It makes both cities not very inviting to pop in for just a bit. Even if they had a normal tele, people wouldn't go to those places very often. There's simply nothing worthwhile to do in either city (except the blast furnace, of course). The most common reason for me to go to Dorgesh-Kaan is usually just to take the train to Keldagrim to use the Blast Furnace. Oh, and I have like 120+ of the Dorgesh-Kaan tele sphere things. I still don't go there very often.

Under updated areas
Probably one of the least-used cities out there is Dorgesh-Kaan (I don't consider the agility course part of the city). It gets updates, like the latest quest for example, but once the novelty of it wears off, it'll go back to being deserted. Some "under-updated" and relatively unused places are the elven lands in general (the only really useful things there are the elves for slayer and the fruit tree patch and I don't remember what the last update there was), Nardah (among other places in the desert that I don't feel like trying to remember the names of), Trollheim, the Penguin place, Meyerditch (unless you count the blood altar and Bloodveld area that I don't consider part of the actual city), and the digsite. Did I miss any? :-k

Quest 150
Even though it apparently wasn't the quest they'd planned on having as #150, I have to say it works fine for me. Great storyline and overall a great quest (although I would have preferred it being a bit more difficult). Too bad they had to nerf the agility course, though; that would have made the quest simply amazing. Also, I wonder if Zanik's crossbow would be any good against tormented demons. From what I understand, the spec should rip them apart (since they use prayer), but is it anywhere close to being strong enough as a regular weapon to use it as your sole ranged weapon?

Circus Points Submission Thread
Yeah, no problem. And I have 99 magic, so I don't think that will be a problem so long as I do the level 80 tricks during the mage event. Green FTW! :XD:
