  1. I had parties for my first couple 99's and will go to those of close friends, but I find they're usually just a nuisance. You have to invite people and find a time that works for most and then people are late and then someone has to leave and then, because the reward for a 99 is a cape, you can't go show off your newly-gotten leetness at Castle Wars. :wall: I don't have anything against people who like parties, but I prefer to only go to the important ones and not hold any for myself (although I will invite any firends who are on at the time to come and see me get the level).
  2. Wow can you tell me how to do that please? drop talk drop talk That doesn't work any more. I tried it a while back and it just told me I already had one and didn't need another. I'm not sure, but the suicide method (die with one while next to the guy, run back, get another and then pick up your items from the grave) might still work. On Topic: I have place holders for pretty much everything worth less than 100k although every now and then i'll get rid of a few for the extra cash if I'm not planning on using them any time soon.
  3. Ignorance is bliss... for the ignorant. For the rest of us it's like a headache that refuses to leave us alone. (I'm sorry, but the blatent ignorance of the OP on the reason behind the guy giving out the two exp lamps just put this into my head and I felt I had to share it.)
  4. Although I only played RSC for a few months (I joined the December before RS2 came out), these threads still make me wish I could go back for a visit. There's just something about where things start that you can never get away from...
  5. The economy went down because the banks failed because the U.S. government tried to make the ability to own a house available to everyone. This obviously isn't possible because these people couldn't pay their mortgages and it cost the banks a ton of money. (This is just a very short summary of what happened. I could go into more detail, but I'm too lazy right now.) As for your bit on global warming, that is completely wrong. The so-called hole in the ozone layer is really only a weak spot and has been shrinking for quite a while now (most theories point to the fact that refrigerators no longer use a certain chemical that somehow affected the ozone). As for global warming as a whole, the entire premise behind it is wrong. Weather is cyclicle. One look at the recorded weather conditions throughout history show this (The same crowd was complaining about global cooling and the coming ice age back in the 1980's). Not to mention that some NASA employees have lied about global temperatures (1998 is NOT the hottest year on record; that title belongs to 1937 (I think; I do know it was in the mid-late 1930's, though)) and most scientists are actually predicting 10-15 years of global cooling now. Sorry to be off-topic, but I felt I must clear up the major flaws in what had been said.
  6. I'm not sure about gp/hour, but I do know that, with a d axe, the exp rate is about 20-25k exp/hr.
  7. The featured article was a great read. I agree completely! Get rid of the ones that only give 500 gp (make the ones with costumes optional), give the others better rewards, give us the ability to turn off the teleporting randoms, and please, I'm begging you, let us just shoot Molly and her sister and just get it over with!! The mole guide was okay, I guess (I guess I'm just too high-leveled to find it interesting), and I didn't read the third (I don't find stories based on a game all that appealing).
  8. There are four things that could end my playing of RS: 1. Not having the time to play (I'm starting college next year) 2. Not having the money to play (I would rather shoot my foot off then return to f2p*) 3. Boredom 4. MechScape *No offense to f2p'ers, but after spending two years as a member (and being the packrat that I am) I just can't see myself continuing to play if I have to go f2p.
  9. There are a few bushes by the mine southeast of varrock (to the northwest of the mine).
  10. I beg to differ: Now, admittedly, this statment is in reference to the GE Database and does not explicitly refer to the GE in whole. However, this statement does imply that Jagex does, in fact, have nothing against merchanters and, possibly, even that Jagex supports merchanting. EDIT: I just found this in reference to the price manipulation argument: I will admit that this doesn't specifically state that price manipulation is against the rules, but it does imply that it is not approved of by Jagex. Just another thing to consider while making your arguments on this matter.
  11. If you lie to people to try to get them to buy into the item, it's item scamming. Technically, group manipulation should be against rule 4 (cheating) as it is not really in the spirit of the game. However, Jagex hasn't really condemned it and I think they're going to fix it through GE limits, not making it against the rules. There was a rule (I'm not sure if it's still there or not) in the forum cod of conduct stating that working as a group to manipulate prices was agianst the rules.
  12. I'm not sure about other methods (I used tiara crafting for a while, but I'm not sure how much it costs or the exp rates), but, if you're using dhide, I strongly recommend using sacred clay needles to cut your losses in half.
  13. Jagex won't "shift its focus" from one thing to another. They'll just hire people to be on a new team working with their new projects like they did with FunOrb and have already been doing with MechScape. Some people might switch teams, but I doubt any of the teams will shrink in size/abilities any time soon (as long as they remain profitable, there's no reason to shut it down/downsize).
  14. I remember something about Blizzard suing a WoW RWT "company" and it cost them a bunch of money and didn't really stop anything (they attacked one of the smaller RWT companies and most of the others just ignored it). It could work, but I doubt it would be anywhere near being considered "cost-effective."
  15. Jagex's main motivation for stopping RWT was to end the use of stolen credit cards for membership on bot accounts (the banks and credit companies were about to end their deals with Jagex). They have obviously accomplished this and botting is down significantly (I haven't seen a bot in a long time, but I also haven't been on f2p in a long time, so I don't know the situation there). As for the random people out-coding Jagex, that should be expected. Just think about it like this: millions of people play this game; of those there are probably 10's (possibly hundreds) of thousands of people willing to cheat; who's going to win: the thousands of random people or the ~100 programmers (not sure about this number) at Jagex (who also have to make updates to the game content)?
  16. 1. combat level. - 125+ 2. total level. - 2000+ 3. level in a skill. - depends on the skill, but the average is probably about 85+ 4. Amount of Quest points. - max
  17. The problem with lowering prices is that people sincerely believe that it is worth more (whether or not it is actually worth more/less can only be found out once the price does find equilibrium AND people start trading them via the GE again) and are, obviously, willing to pay more. You can't just go in, lower prices, and say "this is the true equilibrium." It doesn't work that way. If you want people to start trading 3rd age via the GE, you have to incrememtally raise its price until people start selling it on the GE. This will, inevtably, cause a price crash that may or may not require Jagex to come in again and incrementally lower prices to where people start buying again. This process must then be repeated until the price levels out and 3rd age starts trading easily on the GE again. All lowering the price would do is make it take longer to find equilibrium.
  18. I find it's best to be optimistic at all times, but accepting of hard times. The way I see it, if you're always depressed and pesssimistic, you aren't going to try to get anywhere or do anything, but if you're optimistic and cheerful about the future, you have the motivation needed to seek out and accomplish what it is you want in life. As for the BTS's, I like the idea of an "update year." Sure, they should have been doing all these things over the past couple years and this will most likely suck for people like myself, but I bet most of these changes won't take too much work (meaning there'll still be time for some more awesome additions to the game) and this really does need to get done.
  19. 1011 Binary ftw. I hope I did that right.
  20. Apparently, you also did not check the ~20 pages before... All properly-done page beginnings happen to start with a number divisible by 20, as per the design of the thread. Someone blew it about 2 pages back, and someone didn't catch it before I showed up. Further, I'm the thread's master counter/protector, so when I post, I never miss. I am the one that sets it straight. Don't try to mess it up again. :shame: Unlike what you think, the correct count position is now: 10,698 ~Mr. D. V. "I don't let the counter slip." Devnull Oh, sorry about that, then. :wall: (Maybe I should start rereading the first posts of some of these again... It's probably been two years since I read most of them) 10,697
