  1. I understand and respect that. I'm just looking at the numbers side of it. What people do with those numbers is up to them. Heck, I'm the one to talk to about taking slower exp in a skill and not being efficient. 99 fishing and woodcutting took me 4 months, each, because I took the slower, more profitable routes (monkfish and yews) and played Castle Wars about just as much as I trained (not to mention all the time I spent chasing friends around Edge with a rubber chicken). 8-)
  2. I beg to differ. If I were to be getting 80 Mining with these tools, it would take approximately 110 tools to do so. It also looks like your math is convoluted; the numbers that I gave earlier were the tool lasting time (you multiply by 2 to get the double-exp value from using the tool). With dedication, I could probably go through about four tools an hour in Arzinidan*, meaning that I could get 56K experience in that hour. *Arzinian is the gold mines, and I prefer to use rocks that give a consistent amount of experience per ore, since granite is unpredictable. I divided by 2 to see how much exp the tool itself adds on which is, in effect, what you're getting by playing SC. Also, the number I divide by 2 is the total amount of exp gained while using a tool, not just the bonus exp. As for the Arzidan mines, if you can get 56k exp/hour with the tools, that means that you're getting 21k exp/hour at SC (56k exp/4 tools=14k *total* exp/tool => (14k/2)*3=21k); you're still going slower than if you just mined granite (which, beleive it or not, isn't necessarily unpredictable in terms of exp; I spent three hours there the other day getting a consistant 39k-40k exp/hour w/out a clay pick).
  3. They really aren't worth it for mining unless you extremely dislike mining (playing SC for mining tools nets about 24k exp/hour* while powermining granite gets about 40k exp/hour). They are definitely worth it for smithing (making mith bolts at the blast furnace; get about 90k exp/hour at SC*), construction (75k exp/hour at SC* and they save a lot of money) and for crafting (they save a lot of money; not sure about the exp). I have *not* tried the wc axe, the harpoon, or the butterfly net. *These values are calculated with this equation: (approximate exp tool lasts for/2)*3 tools per hour
  4. I think that's about the same rate that I got from Granite mining. Do you know how many rocks you collected? If not, perhaps this will help: I went to the Coal mines and got about 120 coal. The tool is at 19%. The mining level may have a bearing too; mine's 74 right now. Anyway, the differential now is that 19%/100% = x/120. In summation, the tool will last another 22 ores before it gives out completely; I'll test that later to determine it. If that theory holds up, it drained .81% of its power from one ore. I'm thinking also that the experience from the object may have to do with how fast it degrades. .6% for a single steel bar seems like a lot, which means it goes down 3% per plate, and lasts only 16 plates. Each steel bar is between 17.5 (raw bar) and 55 (smelt+smith) experience. I'll need to know which to determine how fast it'll degrade on a Steel scale, and from that, it's simple to figure out how fast the proto-tool *may* degrade. I'm guessing that this confirms the experience->degradation theory. [EDIT] Alright, so I found some more stuff out about these things. According to the post from the RSOF, 15-16-84-58083232, each tool has a *set* experience amount. In effect, it doesn't matter what you use or harvest, or what your level is, the tool lasts only until you hit that max experience cap. Note that the values are from the normal experience values. [Thanks to Samoht Gnir, Djmoody and Sport 0 for this.] Hammer 32,063 Hatchet 9,450 or 18,900 Pickaxe 7,140 Harpoon 13,750 Needle 21,500 Fletching is 46,875 I can practically vouch for the data here since it matches up with a test of mine -- Mining in particular. The proto-tool *will* last 142 coal. I don't know how many pieces of granite I mined per tool, but I do know that I had a lava titan out for the one that got over 16k exp and that I didn't have on out for the one that lasted less than 16k exp. Also, if those numbers are the exp each tool adds, then mining's wrong. 7140 is obviously not half of either of the two exp amounts I got (7140*2=14,280). I'm sticking with the theory that thay last for x uses (142 might be it for mining; 142 coal is 7100 exp and 142 2kg granites is 8520 (w/out a sc tool)).
  5. I can confirm that the morphic tool doesn't alwasy net 60k exp each tool. I took some granite mining and got about 16k exp per tool (I got 15,819 from one and 16237 from another; maybe it goes by how many times it's used and not the exp gained :-k ).
  6. IF my account were to get banned/deleted (not likely since I generally stick to myself in-game (RS is just a way to relax at the end of the day, for me)), I'd quit RuneScape, (wait until Spring of 2009) and start up a MechScape account (I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this option, yet). There's no way I'm going to try to repeat everything I've done in this game and regain all that exp and MechScape sounds like a game I might like just as much, if not more, than RuneScape.
  7. -You can get them from a drop. (don't know which monster) -It's special is 4 very fast attacks like the dds, but 4 instead of 2. Like someone else said, it can be a good combo with a Saradomin Sword because they are both 2-handed weapons. You get them from tormented demons (only killable after While Guthix Sleeps). As for this so-called nerf, I would like to see a pic of a J-mod saying this... I've been killing people all afternoon with them and I haven't sensed much of a change. (I'll try checking the RSOF, but if you have a pic of a J-mod saying the were nerfed, please post it. Until I see a pic, I will consider this rumor a try at price manipulation.)
  8. And what levels did these people who hit you with them have? When these things are used against people with weak armor, you pretty much always hit high unless you're a newb compared to them; when used against people about the same level as you with good armor, they generally hit high enough for an easy KO; and when used on people of a lower level, they dominate. Just because you, a player with maxed out combat stats, don't get hit by them, doesn't mean they suck.
  9. Support!! I've wanted this feature ever since the GE came out... Oh, and, like others have said, it needs to only calculate the value when requested.
  10. go to the town neitznot itself then go far east to a ladder at the edge of water in town and theres a tower with a ladder go up and watch the guard, warning THEY TALK IN CAPS, so its not for the faint of scapers I loved that task... Monty Python insults FTW! \ :XD:
  11. you must not like to train slayer very heavily if thats you're idea of good tasks. You blocked all the good ones (fast xp) lol looping must be a fairly new phenomena because when I was training to 99 slayer I never had problems like this. I doubt it. It's just random. I almost blocked bloodvelds once.... I was stuck in a semi-loop where it was bloodvelds, something random, bloodvelds, something else, bloodvelds, another random task, bloodvelds, etc. (I don't remember how long it went on for, but it was really annoying and boring having to kill hundreds of bloodvelds again and again and again and again.....).
  12. All of them had good rewards: Karamja: GLOVES TO TELE TO SHILO(Duradel) Lumbridge: Ring that gives energy , only ring with a prayer bonus, and teleport to port sarim/draynor farming patch Varrock: Varrock Plate 3 which has great defenses for it's weight, allows you to smith and smelt faster, and allows you to get multiple ores when mining Contact NPC Ring is good for skilling, and the prayer bonus is negligible. But not worth the time to do all the tasks. Defense is useless as there's better things out there. And Mining and Smithing are rarely trained by most, although I suppose that is good for some people. But not worth doing all the tasks for the CHANCE of multiple ores/smithing faster. The "chance" for mining/smithing multiple ores/bars at a time is actually pretty good. It generally happens at least 4 or 5 times per load (although, I could still see some people calling that negligible). I just put my house in Relleka. Too much work to recharge lyres. :XD:
  13. When you 2-hit someone with DSS, maxed stats, brewed, and using tuna potato + brew, post a video please... I owned d claws briefely for about 1 or 2 days and with 90 attack my worst spec was 0-1, I did not get 4 hits. Yeah I own a pair of dclaws I got as a drop (don't plan on selling, I don't have any junk) and sometimes it messes up and you get only 2 hits which are 1-0 which can happen for both specials. I don't know if it's a glitch or if JAGeX intended it to be like that to balance it out. I believe it's because what you hit with the claws is based on some equation Jagex came up with. If you look at the specs closely you'll notice that most of the time the two lowest of the hits add up to a third and these three together add up to the other hit (roughly). This is probably why d claws are so much more acurate than the dds.
  14. The examine for tormented demons is: "Lucien must be incredibly powerful if he can bind such demons to his will." I'll work on getting a pic up in the morning.
  15. [hide=lots of quoting] yes. it's a 250k item. if you're familiar with the ge, they rise depending on the trade price by 5%. Ummmm.... I was letting people borrow my claws at the duel arena.... Maybe they mean deuls with stakes and not friendly ones, though (I only ever do friendly duels). Oh, actually, you might be able to use borrowed items on PvP worlds, just not able to actually lend them out. [/hide] That's what I'm thinking now that I've reread that. You can't take lent items into Bounty Hunter while you can take them to the other places, but you can't make the actual transaction while in them (for mini-games, I'm assuming this means you can't make the transaction while actually playing the game, but you can still lend things in the lobby to be used in the game). I hope that was clear enough to be understood... Maybe someone should test some of this (I just hope that someone isn't me; I'm too lazy to do such a thing :XD: ).
  16. You do know that you have to use a single-use Blast Hammer that costs 1,000k to smith the platebodies right? So, now that they're assistable, the player who actually ends up with a plate still loses 1 mill. It's the same cost to the one who ends up with the plate and the guy giving the assist still ends up with only the exp (since they don't have to have a hammer of their own and don't get the 1 mill off of who they're assisting).
  17. yes. it's a 250k item. if you're familiar with the ge, they rise depending on the trade price by 5%. Ummmm.... I was letting people borrow my claws at the duel arena.... Maybe they mean deuls with stakes and not friendly ones, though (I only ever do friendly duels).
  18. Now that we know its Falador, what do you think the White lily seeds will do? There will also be another emote, maybe something to do with the White Knights? The paragraph under also caught my interest. Are they releasing the Fremminik Development Diary at the same time for high levels? I'm thinking they changed the second paragraph since you read it. It now reads:
  19. TWO new achievement diaries?! And one of them's the Fremminick one with rewards reguarding MTK?! Looks like a good month to me!
  20. You should try soloing them. It's not that hard, really. It'll take you longer per kill, but at least you don't have to worry about that happening again and, should you get a drop, you get to keep all of it  (although with the plate pieces crashing, I can see why coinshare might be attractive :wall: ).
  21. This discussion has come up here too many times for me to want to try to remember (if you want me to, I can go back and find some of them for you so we can skip rediscussing everything and just get back to what we were doing). If you want junk trading to end, go after the sources of it (price ceilings/floors in the GE that "create" junk, a pricing mechanism that moves too slow to keep up with the market, and Jagex setting the prices of new items lower/higher than they should without giving them enough room to move to where they should be).
  22. How slow do you think they are? They're dagger speed.. and both specials will hit in the same time as 2 dagger hits really.. so you don't exactly get that much time to eat.. I could see enough time in there for one shark to be eaten, but that's almost inconsequential since the two specs, when used together can add up to over 100 fairly easily. I could see you eating if someone started with the specs (unless they added up to over 119, which is also a possibility), but if you're in pvp and they use them as a KO weapon, you're pretty much done.
  23. Dream Mentor itself is a requirement, so the lowest anyone can be is 85.
  24. You can't use the spec when borrowing them (through the lending system), but you can if you buy them. As for people saying they suck, I met a guy who said that yesterday at the duel arena... 2-specced him (he was 15 combet levels below me, but still). I also had some friends come out and let me try the claws on them and I'll just say that, unless you get unlucky, d claws >>>>>>>>> dds. Even against better armor and stats, I was winning because of the massive numbers I could hit with the claws. Now, that said, I think I might start taking bets on how soon they get nerfed.... :wall:
  25. Maybe that's the "chance for an awesome hit" part of the spec. :-k
