Oll4y
I'm currently looking for some new books to read. I like books that make you think, and challenge the way that you would normally think. Books that are controversial are good as well. Some books I enjoyed are: The Giver. Fight Club. The Perks of Being A Wallflower. October Sky. The Outsiders. etc. etc. So, yeah, any ideas? :D
Viktorkrum77
Angels and Demons Deception Point Digital Fortress And if you want to really open your mind, try the Bhagavad Gita. Me doing staff.
Mercifull
Dan Brown is a weak author, hardly challenging material. What kind of books do you like reading? This is instrumental in helping people give advice and suggestions. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. gonpost
The Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony were some of my all time favorite books...I really enjoyed the story. For more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incarnatio ... mmortality On a pale horse is really just an intro...once you start reading the others, you'll get into the major story line. indy500fan
What kind of books do you like reading? This is instrumental in helping people give advice and suggestions. Exactly, without any guidelines to go by this will just be another generic book thread, which we have a lot of.
Viktorkrum77
Dan Brown is a weak author, hardly challenging material. I just wanted to reiterate this point. Not really, I find his books rather interesting. Very up beat, they keep you on your toes. And that's what I expect from an author, to make the reader addicted to wanting to read on. I find a lot of books that are supposedly "classics" just make you want to fall asleep. Me doing staff.

Oll4y
I've already read Harry Potter. Good books. But, i'd prefer some books that are perhaps more realistic.
Viktorkrum77
I like fantasy books, horror, anything. I just want some good reads that will open up my mind. :\ Read religious scriptures, read "How To" books, or "For Dummies" books. Seriously, if you have the patience, you'll learn so much. crimsonking
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas, best book ever written. xvillexvalox
Dead birds singing. Will make you cry, laugh, smile, poop, and frown. Maybe not poop. It cuts straight to the plot in the first 2 chapters. It's inspiring, though I suggest reading it alone, unless you don't mind crying in public. Darkluniux
Angels and Demons Deception Point Digital Fortress And if you want to really open your mind, try the Bhagavad Gita. Those books among with the Da Vinci Code are good, the bad is that all have the same plot: "Some pretty girl got her father dead (her father was in life an important scientific who discovered a new weapon or energy/A grand master of an acient and secret society/Some important character in goverment) and other random guy helps her to unlock a mystery and make justice, in the final the girl will discove rthat she is something like a descendant of Jesus/Member of a secret goverment agency/etc... The plot is: Assasination--->Police or whatever calls Dan brown--->Weee! The illuminati/Nazi leaders/russian rehersal/spam--->Nice girl cries--->Mystery solved, the nice girl if the virgin mary--->Yes, Dan is now the girl's man and became millonarie. Anyways, they are fun and addicting, myself have read the Da Vinci code in 1 day and 1 night and Angels & Demons in two days. The bad is that I wanted to know more about the illuminati :( anyways, now I'm an illuminated Knight Templar 33rd degree in something. http://darkluniux.blogspot.comBehold my blog! Darkluniux
History books are great. I will say some books about alchemy, crusades, acient times... Rebdragon
I always loved Ender's Game (the first one, anyways). It's like Freshmen High school level reading (that's when I read it anyways), so if you're older and want something more challenging and intellectual, I wouldn't go for this one. But if you're younger and love Sci-Fi kind of stuff, it was a great book. I always loved Call of the Wild for some reason as well, even though I very much prefer fantasy and sci-fi :-k . History books are great. Bleh. I will say some books about alchemy, crusades, acient times... Those are nice and great. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

gillett
Dan Brown is a weak author, hardly challenging material. I just wanted to reiterate this point. Not really, I find his books rather interesting. Very up beat, they keep you on your toes. And that's what I expect from an author, to make the reader addicted to wanting to read on. I find a lot of books that are supposedly "classics" just make you want to fall asleep. The point is that its not challenging, viky. I enjoyed angels and demons but the fact of the matter its very comparable to the writing styles of J.K. Rowling, easy.
assassin_696
Life Of Pi (I would really, really recommend this). The Selfish Gene (so it's pop science, but it'll certainly change the way you think). Straw Dogs (again, not fictional but opens your mind) "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
