That's a big word in my dictionary, as it was humans ourselves that created the concept/thory/law of dimensions, so why shouldn't there be more to the three that we have created based on what we alone know?

Yes, we know you can't see a black hole - even if they had no gravitational mass at all, you wouldn't be able to see them. The thing about a black hole is that it's as small as an object can possibly be - or even smaller.

 

 

 

However, you could easily observe a black hole without being close enough to be pulled in. We can observe black holes from earth. Even through the naked eye, we could observe them safely. Looking directly at one from a good distance, you'd see something very similar to the original picture.

K. Observing something is not the same as seeing it with your eyes.

 

 

 

I can observe the wind. I can't see it. I see its effects. That is what observation is.

 

 

 

That being said, it is very likely that at some point in humanity's future we will observe a black hole via telescope, or even up close. And I'm damn well going to question what you've "learnt" if you're going to say stupid things.

Black holes do exist however u cannot see them! Every picture that is made is an interpretation of what they are like. The shere size of them and gravitational force means that getting anyway near to view them would mean being sucked in. Sorry to say it but it actually true, Physics at uni all the way 8-)

Now to contribute to the topic, so I don't get banned: I remember reading that black holes just decompose anything that enters them into nuclear particles and spreads these newly-acquired particles around. Anyone know more on this?

scientists can observe black holes by the effescts on stars around them for example, if there is a star orbiting an invisible object(assuming its a black hole)the orbit would be incredibley fast and most of the time it is a small brown dwarf star.

 

 

 

also, most scientists believe there is a MASSIVE black hole at the centre of most galaxy's.

 

 

 

ON-Topic, that black hole looks so photoshopped its hard to believe someone could think thats real. but at least it is the closest yet ::'

Black holes will always be above and beyong my understanding and I don't see why people on this thread are trying to explain things that even top researchers cant.

 

 

 

I fail to see how its possible to take a picture of something that is basicly the absense of light.

No, not mm'kay. I've read your other posts (they're hard to miss) and I still don't think it's occurred to you that if you were close enough to a black hole it could be possible to observe the event horizon (not the singularity).

 

 

 

But of course, you've done physics at uni so you must be right, sorry for questioning you.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

You cannot see a black hole, scientists just see the universe getting sucked into somewhere and call it a black hole. You can't see a real one.

Dude. Read the whole freaking thread before you make stupid posts like this. To recap:

 

 

 

1. You can see black holes, for a given value of see

 

 

 

2. This value is, "you notice a large patch of absolute nothingness".

 

 

 

3. You can, however, observe them.

 

 

 

4. bbalking has apperantly taking "a course at uni", and is therefore the master of black holes.

 

 

 

5. Therefore, he is entitled to claim seeing = observing, thus we cannot see black holes.
