Depends.

What kind of bass you play makes a diffrence. Metal, Punk, Jazz, anything.

I play guitar so I can't say much about bass, but I know your most likely going to want to get a 4-string if you wanna learn faster, and like I sais, letting people know what kind of music you like will help in chosing.

The internet is your friend, you don't need us to tell you what type to get. I mean, just go search for what you're looking for if you haven't already.

What?... Since when was asking about other peoples' opinions about something like this deemed "unnecessary"? Sorry, but before buying something as expensive as a bass guitar I would look for suggestions and opinions wherever I could get them from: for this, internet forums are excellent. Using Google isn't always the most efficient thing for this, especially since you will probably end up on the website of the different guitar companies, and they sure as hell won't let you in on their flaws.

are u already a bass player and just in the market for a new one? For a beginner, you can never go wrong with Fender

When I Have It, It's the World's. When I Don't Have It, The World Is Mine.

I dont play bass i play guitar, but my dad plays bass and he likes to play ibanez. To me it sounds nice and i think would be great for a begginer. But if your leaning more towards heavy metal other then rock i would try a b.c. rich

Bleh, I've enjoyed playing with dog crap more than playing B.C. Rich guitars and basses. Fender is always a good bet, and Ibanez makes very good basses for a relatively low cost.

I have never personally played a B.C. Rich so i wasnt sure but i do like the designs and are used mostly for heavy metal and thats what he was looking for. I personally have a Fender Strat and I love it.

( NOT A RANT) ..w00t! -.-...Let's add you to the endless/countless number of people who buy a guitar and think there going to get a label then make it big down the road....Seriously I see people getting guitars just because they think its "cool" instead of doing it cause they have TRUE INTEREST in music, anyways if you truly are devoted and want to play guitar, I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m glad, however don't let it sit in your closet and collect dust and when your friends come over say HEY! LOOK AT MY "RAD" Guitar...lol anyways a good beginner guitar would be a fender they offer box set's that will include everything you need, once you get better i say move towards a schecter.

*However I tend to think your one of those people who want to be "cool" instead of truly play, *points to your thread* this isn't exactly the best place to find your research?....

Of course it is easy to have good experience with any guitar when it stays in the same enviroment for long week-months at a time...I like to call this "enviroment " the neglection section"

But I wanna play Guitar!

Do you know anything about guitar?

Nope, but my friend has one, and my friends friend too, it seems so cool, we could start a band!

pfft...haha gimmie a break -.-

Don't get me wrong there are great guitar players, I'm talking about the people who simply buy a guitar for let's say "social Status"? instead of common interst?

<.<

Relax mate, don't just assume :P I mean yes, there are many who do that with instruments, i for one didn't, i've been drumming for 5 years and don't plan to quit. But go easy on him eh?

Sounds good, no need to start something here.

Oh and i'm quite sure he wanted a bass guitar not a normal one.

OnTopic:

I agree with Fender for beggining bass's

Then maybe gibson? I don't know if that company's good for bass's(they are for guitar tho ::' )

hows the weather up there. where the rich people live. currently, in the poor area its -1.

Yea, I Don't mean him in General, but there are a ton of people like that out there, But yes you can never go wrong with a Fender for starting out..
