Revenga
I know you've all played them at one point in time, the holy grail of all video games: the free ones. Free games come in all kinda of genres and styles of play, and with enough searching, you can find one that suits you perfect ( Like Runescape for ...MANY of you.) Now what I intend to do with this thread, is make finding those games more effiiciant. IF someone would care to post a game they play, a few screenshots, some info ( genre, style of play, is it online, ect..) It would be much easier to weed out the bad, don't work, or poorly contructed games, from the ones a lot of people play like Warrock and Runescape ( pardon is Warrok isn't considered popular...seems enough people play it to do so. The free gaming industry could be one that keeps me entertained untill I'm old and wrinkly, so I think this post could be one of importance, with a little help from you guys. I was thinking something of the following format. Game: Runescape Genre: Sandbox kinda action RPG Playablility: There are people that kill themselves over this game..it's pretty damn playable, don't yuh think? Screenshots: * Place screenshots here, I don't have any on this computer and I have no intentions of visiting Runescape again. :uhh: ) Personal opinion: It's a great game, but definatly an aquired taste. Some people hate it, some people play it 14 hours a day. It's about addicting as World of Warcraft and Oblivion ( for me anyway.. ) and it's hard to put down once you pick it up. Somehow I've managed to put it down several years and thousands of hours after picking it up...but meh.. PS: ..Don't use Runescape as one. PSS: Tell me what you think about the concept of this thread. : |Msg me me in-game | IrreIephant| ^ capital i

Riku3220
ok then game: gunbound genre: cartoon car shooting game playability: you have to be somewhat good at math because you have to calculate how much power you use, how far your target is, how strong the wind is, how high or low your angle is, and how heavy your shots are for example: a lightning ball will be overtaken by the wind easier than a missle

Nenga
Game: Scions of Fate Genre: Anime japanese style MMORPG Playablility: It's a bit hard to grasp the control of the movement at first. Selecting monster to is controled by the mouse but the rest by the keyboard Screenshots: Personal opinion: It's a good break from Runescape, it's fun and free to play. The only thing that costs is completly optional if you wanna get it and you won't miss any areas if you don't pay for it. In-game money is kinda hard to get. You gotta download scions of fate if you want to play, it's worth it though. link follows: http://fate.netgame.com Ponies!

Playablility: A lot of modes including Deathmatch and Capture the Flag, good physics, a nice selection of weapons, and a lot of fun. There is a single player mode, but the real action is online. You can also make your own maps and can easily mod your own weapons, and mod the whole game too if you want. I second this game, it was pretty fun and got me hooked for quite a while It's quite slow to start off, but once you get going with attacking others (or playing defensive known as "turtle") you can have a lot of fun. Although it's a text-based game, with the overview and such, you really get the feeling that you see things happening. Has a wide array of ships that, with the right ratios and balance, you can pull off some effective profitable hits. If you really get into it, you will most likely have a tight schedule as this is vital if you wish to survive in this game, a bit like farming, but a single careless mistake can cost you months of building ships 76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007 Finally the secrets of goal achieving are revealed! vladmoney
Game: SilkRoad http://www.silkroadonline.net/ Genre: MMORPG Playablility: Train level and sp, get really cool weapons, several classes, you can trade silk for money (fun), guilds, a lot of cool monsters, and rare monsters Screenshots: Personal opinion: talk about a grind, you have to start gridning sp at lvl 16 in order to be anygood at high level. Sp is used at to put up your special skills for your class. Usually you have to make a first char, get money on him, and then buy a really good weapon for a level 16, then make another char and grind sp on him. It also has a server problem, hard to log in because a lot of people play it, and everytime you fail to log in you have to restart your computer. Its a good game besides that, the silk tradeing aspect is fun, since there are traders theives and hunters. The graphics are really cool and so its fun to get new armor and weapons. There are alot of cool monsters and you can team up to fight for better sp. You can join guilds, that have different levels. Don't do quests because they are boring and because they give a lot of xp but not a lot of sp. New servers created often, so you can start at same level as everyone else. There is a shop that you can buy pets with rl money, or you can buy from people online who paid real money for it If you can get through the early grind, the game is fun. deloriagod
Sorry I'm not using the same format as everyone else, but I already had this posted elsewhere so I just copy/pasted it here.. Shadowbane Background/Cost: Shadowbane is a free MMORPG. It was originally run by Wolfpack and cost $12.99 a month to play. But earlier this year they turned the game over to Stray Bullet Gaming and the game has been free to play ever since. The Game: First things first. You're going to need a character. I'm going to figure you're smart enough to figure out how to create a character. So I'll give you a quick overview of the different classes. Fighters are generally high HP/strength characters. A damaging blow to anyone will low defense or simply taking damge is their job. Healers are group support characters. They often provide heals and buffs, but some can deal some good damage. Rogues are stealth based characters. Good for solo pking and generally move quickly while invisible. Mages are magic based characters. They rely on spirit for more mana and intelligence to help them deal damage. When built right, they can do some serious damage but they go down quick. When you create a character you're put onto a tutorial island. It's really not fun but you'll get the basics of the game down. At level 21 you're kicked from your newb island guild and (while you can stay on newb island until you want to leave) you can repledge to a new safehold guild. Then it's time for the hard work. Grinding/carebearing your way up to a respectable level. You can go solo and, depending on your race/class/profession, this can be anywhere for simple to impossible. If you don't want to do the work yourself, you can find a guild that will level you until you're ready for PvP. This game is based around PvP. Now you're going to spend probably a day to a week (depending on race/class/profession and people helping) to get to a high enough level for PvP. Now you're high enough for PvP. You're going to want to find a good guild. Pking solo is only good for some professions but can become suicide if you don't know your limits. The most common time for PvP is when mines are up for the taking. Once a guild takes over a mine and keeps it until the time is up, they get it for 1 day and are allowed to set the time they want it to go up for the taking. Once that time comes around, they have to defend it from opposing guilds unless the mine isn't wanted by anyone but themselves (or a guild using some good tactics to keep a certain guild out of the running for a while). Now, mine fights are fun but they're pretty small scale. Usually battles consist of ~40 people depending on which guilds are fighting. Want a larger scale battle? Here's your chance. Sometimes a guild wants another guilds city. What better way to get a city than to plant a bane stone and start a war? A war consists of 2 guilds fighting plus any allies they decide to bring (or random people wishing to join in the battle). A war starts at a designated time and ends when either the bane stone is destroyed or the tree of life is destoryed. But it's not as simple as just destorying either of those. Don't forget all the people who need to be killed in order to get to what you want to destroy. PvP is great and all, but you need to do some carebearing once in a while if you aren't getting much money from pking (which you won't if you're only pking during mine fights/banes). There are plenty of zones to carebear at, some are just more dangerous than others. Every 2 hours a new zone will be designated as the 'hot zone'. Exp/drops will be greatly inscreased, as will the chance of pkers being around. If you're looking for some quick cash, just round up a group and head in. If you're looking for PvP, this could be a good chance for some soloing. Chances are you're going to find people who think they can handle their own out there and won't expect you to be lurking not far behind. Rogues are great in these places. A scout can drop a warlock into a group of mobs and loot his body without being seen for more than a second. A fighter can be great if you're looking for getting as much money as possible out of these areas. They can carry much more than any other class so you can take those item drops too. Screenshots: During a bane - notice the poorly placed bane stone: Carebearing on RoC: More carebearing with rarest sword in the game (none may be left in existence): My favorite armor: [LINKS] Shadowbane Main Page Game Download (click installation files) Account Management If you decide to play, be sure to look me up. vladmoney
Here I will do another: Game: Knight Online Genre: MMORPG Playablility: Pretty plain, just train, several classes, you can fish, guild, guild wars, you have your own pets that you train. Not too bad, community pretty nice. Screenshots: Personal opinion: I havent played it in a while, but i still remember some things. Its nice game, with a lot of stuff coming out right around the time I quit (cause no time to play). Cool armor, they have some cool events they do, have your own pet. A lot of fighting, quests, thats about it. You can have guilds and guild wars. No real interesting twist that a lot MMORPG now have to set themselves apart. They were doing a lot of interesting things with guilds though, like having their own hall and taking over a hall. Its probably updated now. Its worth a look I think, very playable.
