Public Nudity

There would have to be a rule that girls have to shave though, cuz that could get pretty gross.

See, no.

Girls shaving is for their partner's ease and pleasure. Perhaps it's aesthetic as well; but why should someone's nudity be just for your (a viewer's) pleasure? That's not what nudism is about. I think this kind of brings up the basic problem a lot of you are having with imagining what nudism can be like.

Everybody hug and spread the love :D

Hmm, I'm with Rebdragon on this one. Being naked is something that is reserved for certain situations and within private areas. I don't even feel comfortable being naked in a public sauna. I notice that I'm just checking people out, or I look away all of the time to make sure I don't check people out. And I see others do the same. Our society is so very focused on looks and beauty, that we're either grading people subconsciously all of the time or being graded by them.

And, pulling nudity completely into the attraction and sexual area, I really like the idea of mystery. The showing of an ankle was considered very sexy in the victorian age. Nudity belongs to the private area of myself and possibly my lover, simple as that. Suggesting something can do so much more than saying it out loud. I don't really mind other people thinking and acting differently, but preferably not in a too close radius to me.

Nudity generates uncomfortable situations. And it's cold. Let's not forget about that one.

That isn't necessarily true. Plenty of my female and male friends do it for comfort and cleanliness.

Stop trying to score 'sensative male points' and speak the truth.

Stop trying to score e-phallus "I'm a real man" points?

Mate, if you were in a room full of naked girls and didn't check them out at all, there is something seriously lacking with your sex drive..

And if you do nothing but stare at them the whole time no matter how uncomfortable it makes them there is also something wrong with you.

(Notice how I said the whole time not 'at all', just clarifying this to avoid flames).

I'm just going to say that it's unfortunate that society has led us to believe that nudity and sex are inherently connected.

This logic just cracks me up. I don't think society has done much to make guys think of sex when they see a naked girl. Don't ya think that just might be sorta hardwired in us? :P

Bingo. Nice round breasts = good feed for offspring. Nice slim figure with wide hips = good house for offspring. As Bill Hicks said - "There are sexual thoughts, therefore there is playboy."

Anything beyond nudity within the bedroom and bathroom, personally, would just seem... awkward. I wouldn't want to be naked around random poeple, and I wouldn't want them to be naked around me. It wouldn't feel liberating. It'd just feel distracting and weird.

I know, I know, "don't knock it until you try it". But if I'm trying to hold a regular converstation with someone, male or female, I would greatly prefer clothing in the situation >_<. It's just less... awkward, personally.

And mad4u, no offense, but I could tell it was a female writing that post from the way it was written >_>. I.e., I couldn't picture a guy saying what you just said, for some reason that I can't place.

+1

What happens when you're waiting in line for lunch... and everybody is nude? Pushing in line isn't such a little problem anymore... And what if (for guys) you are waiting in line, and you have to go to the bathroom, and it causes you to... pop one? :? What then?

Well heck, if you're still at the age where you're popping them left and right at the slightest breeze it's probably considered KIDDY [Forbidden] and will be placed on your permanent record XD

(Reminds me of a news story a while back about two teens trading "pics", both under 18 and they both got kiddy [Forbidden] charges against them and on their permanent record and they're now sex offenders :\ )

Notice how I wasn't talking of myself? I said you because I was refering to other people who are in a younger year of highschool. (Yes I'm still in Highschool.) And how are you (or I guess I shoud say "children of a less mature age") supposed to stop those kinds of things? And what about kids in grade school (k-6) who are "curious" about the opposite sex? If they see everybody nude all the time, wont they be curious? Harmless little "playdates" may be a little less harmless then.

Ok, I am 20 years old, been around the block you could say. And I would go to one of those parties for the purpose to check out naked girls. I mean, after maybe 20 minutes you'd feel different a be 'free and naked'. But reguardless, you'd still be checking them out the whole night.

How could you not, to say anything less is not being a man. Stop trying to score 'sensative male points' and speak the truth.

If that were as true as you insist, I'd see a lot more scrawny adolescents at Bondi Beach every weekend.

Well, maybe the scrawny adolescents would get the crap kicked out of them if they sat there having a gawk all day? =D>

And of course, when I say 'check them out all night' I don't mean sitting in the corner stroking it and not moving your stare off them for the whole night.

Just putting something out there...

In Ontario, it is completely leagle for a woman to go outside topless. I know it is not a common thing (I've never actually seen any female actually topless and just out for a walk), but still it's part of the law now (was just put in a few years ago).

Now does anyone think this counts as public nudity? The reason the law was passed was simply for equality in that if a guy can walk around topless, so should women.

Wow.. thats not equality, thats stupidity. A man can go topless simpley because its not considered a "private area", which if a woman goes topless, there is.

It seems the world is losing its common sense.

Soon we might here "because so in so killed him, I want that right too!"..

Please someone kill me now before the world gets dumber..

The people who are saying "dont knock it, till you try it", well thats true.

if you go to a social gathering with nudity, if your new to the situation you will certainly look at everyone. But as you know parties etc...normally go on for hours...and after the 5-10 minutes of feeling uncomfortable or...perving.... you stop and it doesnt become an issue.

It sounds like your speaking from experience?

I doubt it. Believe me, the first time you see many of your peers naked at the same time, your curiousity and apprehensiveness lingers far longer than 10 minutes. Even if you stop behaving as if you do, you'd still think about it.

Both women and men have breasts, so i dont see how it is "Private" seeing as they are the exact same thing except one has larger and has more organs there.

BTW Women fought for this law. It was not made by men.

:? Just because of the difference, does that make it "Private" though? Who decides? The females, males, or some government?

(BTW, males and females are not exactly the same, does that make us two different species? no.)

Look at humans in the medival time, now we are more developed in ways, does that make us completely different? No.

If people want to walk around like that, be my guest. I'm a bit self- concious, so at the gym, I tend to change in the bathroom. I also tend to, at the suggestion of my personl trainer, avoid days where the senior water-arobics classes are held... (see below)

Tons of wrinkly, saggy old women walking around and talking in the nude, sometimes SITTING ON THE LOUNGE COUCHES NAKED AND WATCHING OPRAH!!! *shudders* I've seen other creepy things in the women's locker room, but I don't want to send you all into therapy.

Do i have a problem with it? No

I don't CARE.

If public nudity is not acceptable, then so be it, if it is, then thats that.

I didn't say they were completely different, I said they're not the same thing. And they're not.

No, female breasts and male breasts are most certainly not the same thing. But what makes one inherently sexual (and thus unacceptable for other people to see) and the other not? Both can be stimulated during sexual activity in an enjoyable way, so that's not it. Both can be found attractive to look at, so that's not it. Female breasts and male breasts are not the same thing, but them being different doesn't mean we should have different standards about what is considered okay for public exposure.

The reality is that what makes female breasts "inherently sexual" is actually just a social construction. People think of female breasts as sexual because we've grown up in a society where their sexualness is emphasized. Your gut reaction might be "that's not true..." but I genuinely believe you have that gut reaction in you as a result of cultural forces you've grown up being exposed to.

I think that both female and male breasts can be appreciated in both a sexual and a nonsexual way.

I'd dispute that. There are evolutionary privaleges to a mental attraction to the opposite sex and a fascination of breasts of both sexes can be explained. Nice large, round female breasts ultimately means lots of healthy babies due to lots of healthy milk which is a sign of biological fitness of the mother. Sculpted male breasts means good muscle tone and mass which adds to biological fitness and ability of the father to pass on genes.

Just my perspective.

No doubt a huge emphasis is placed on the sexuality of female breasts through society. It's very possible that this has added to or taken to the extreme the evolutionary aspect I was talking about. I suppose the point I was making is that the sexuality was there in the first place, probably just no where near to the extent it is today.
