How exactly does this thread generate meaningful discussion? The one possible reason why Jagex has decided to make all future holiday items untradable is to avoid this "holiday rare" economy fiasco. One positive outcome from this "holiday rare" economy fiasco is the p.hat being parodied/satired in Swan Song.

Im thinking Broken axes and picks. Becuase all they would have to do is get rid of that random.

If they change the portions, they'd change all half pizzas/pies/whatever to full ones one-off.

Party hats are other rares were the only things that kept me playing. It's one thing older players would have as an advantage against newer players, not that it matters though. It may also signify the era in which you were born into the rune-iverse.

 

 

 

I regret transferring all my items to RSC now that my account is inactive and that party hats are worth hundreds of millions a piece.

 

 

 

I would love to see rare weapons and rare armors, but I wouldn't know what a fair way to distribute them amongst the population would be.

Why are rares bad for the rs economy?

 

Rares can turn newbs into the richest people overnight. Rares can cause people to lose a fortune overnight. Rares provokes people to scam, hack, and do whatever they can to obtain them.

 

 

 

I once had a conspiracy that the SOS and security books were going to become rares one day. Now I have hundreds of them in my bank, rotting.

Unfortunately, I must disagree. Where there is a game, there are "n00bs". Even if the current ones quit, more will take their place.

Although that is all that needs to be done for them to become rare, I doubt Jagex will ever remove the random events that cause them. And if they do, they will most likely either repair them or completely remove them.

After half wines, they will never discontinue any items.. If they do, they will be either untradable, or able to get in a store somewhere.

anyway i remember when they updated miscellania (royal trouble) they made iron sickle discontinued and kept it tradeable, however they soon realized it and i think it is now available at a shop there

Prices drop, economy falls, we all lose money, people get pked for their rares. the pkers get killed by a some random thing in the wildy because they werent paying attention, rares disappear, prices rise, everything is fine again... :thumbsup:
