iv had a penguin army going if you haven't been able to tell from about half my pixels but.... i had no general

hard to really say much this early but the shading on the hat looks really good and the star is very detailed, good job so far cant wait to see what the other updates look like :thumbsup:

I would say to dither more(It looks like there is none at all) on the band in the hat

 

 

 

The shading on the tops looks ok, can't thing of anything to help that though

Nice Logo on the hat, but apart from that everything is pretty average. You can clearly tell where you tried to dither the outward part of the front of the hat (I used to do it too) just try to use less contrasting (But not too much) colours to blend in more. I'd use less saturated colours in the star and red stripes on the brown part, and fix up the colours of the hat. Will be interesting to see how this goes.

destro, your pixeling ability is dissapointing me, considering what you can do (wonders!). remember to dither, as the hat is made of cloth. and use AA between the red lines of the hat and the rest of it. the logo is nicely designed, but the lowest left part of the star shouldnt be illuminared because of the position of your light source (i suppose its top right). and you made the dark part of the star a solid dark red. remember to do the same as with the light part of the star, making one part darker than the other.

Destro, may I suggest working on smaller pieces? I personally think this would look much better if it was avvy sized or slightly bigger. Don't need to make bigger images heh :P That's just a suggestion.

well i shrunk it down to sig sized

 

it destroyed the alot of thing though so im trying to make it again on a smaller scale

 

 

 

also im not sure how to do the eyes... from pictures they look solid black with a brownish color around the edge...

give him a moustache and he will look more like a leader, that is if you can make one look right, also make the orange line on the beak a bit darker, at the moment it stands out too much

I'm not really fond of the blue eyes that you gave him...

 

I think you should leave them black (like they were at first), with a little white shining spot thingie. :P :mrgreen:

I don't think I've commented on one of your pixels before, Destro... here goes nothing. :P

 

 

 

The penguin looks obscenely plastic at the moment. Maybe a bit of dithering might do the trick. If you click here, you'll find an image of a few emperor penguins from Wikipedia (gotta love it). You'll also find that their skin (not just the white/orangeish part) has texture and a bit of definition of muscles or whatnot in their shape. They're not just a plastic tube, which is what your penguin, I'm sorry to say, looks like.

 

 

 

Things you could do to improve it are to give the face more definition. Right now it looks like the eyes and beak are sticking out of flat tube, when, if you look in the reference pic again, they don't come out of a tube but the face moulds outward into the beak.

 

 

 

As Mitsu stated above, the hat is made of cloth and not metal - you need a bit of texture there.

 

 

 

I reckon your main problem is the general texture of things. Your pixels generally look really flat because there is very little.

 

 

 

My opinion on the eyes: try to make them look more like beads than sudden black holes sinking into the skull. Give them shape.

 

 

 

I'm sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but I believe you're an accomplished enough member of The Gallery to take a bit of criticism and step out of your comfort zone. :)

It's blue, just imagine its brown. As other people have said, you need to dither the shading you have now, and add some AA, specialy around the red hat bands.

Hello again! I'm glad that you fixed the eyes. :-)

 

 

 

Anyway, here is a link to an image of a penguin, he (or she!) isn't looking straight forward though, but you might want to use it as a reference for the eyes, just in case you aren't sure about the eyes you made right now. (I think they are very good, actually! :-D )
