Nadril
http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_i ... tory=14691 Talking to Gamasutra, Frank Pearce, founding member and senior vice president of product development for Blizzard revealed that the company has a third team hard at work on a new title, separate from World of Warcraft and StarCraft II. The comment came amid discussion of the company's current workforce. "Our global headcount is 2,700," said Pearce, "And most of that is customer service for World of Warcraft! In terms of development staff it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s probably around 350. World of Warcraft is about 135 people, 40 for Starcraft II, 40 for team 3, our cinematics team is about 85 guys. Then there̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s sound and Q/A and that sort of thing." When pressed for details regarding the new project, Pearce was cagey. "Team 3 is working on something really awesome. I can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t give you any hints, but it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s totally awesome." All attempts to extract additional information were understandably met with looks of shock and horror from Blizzard's director of global public relations, who also attended the meeting. Gamasutra was able to confirm that, in spite of Rob Pardo's comments at Hollywood and Games that they weren't giving up on StarCraft Ghost, this Blizzard project remains something different. With Blizzcon coming up in mere weeks, it's possible that additional information could be revealed at that time. Lets think about it for a moment. - They are most likely announcing this said game at Blizzcon, in the U.S. - It has just as large of a development studio as starcraft II does. - It isn't World of Warcraft or Starcraft related. (From what I understand). They announced starcraft II in Korea because it was popular there. What game could be announced in the U.S? I think it might be Diablo III or Diablo related. Blizzard has stated that they are going to get back into the series sooner or later, and Blizzcon would be the best place to announce it. So what do you think? Could it be a World of Starcraft, or perhaps a Lost Vikings Sequel? ()
Necromagus
Probably something Diablo related, with an off chance of Starcraft Ghost being picked up again. Lionheart_0
Starcraft Ghost being picked up again. EWWWw lets hope not. It is very possible that it is another MMO. Was it not said earlier at some point that they are working on a second one? (Or am i confusing that with Square enix...?). Either way I would like to see an MMO of either starcraft or diablo. Although if you think about it, If one was made of Diablo it could be just as dark and attractive to mature players as another game around the bend.... isn't that what is so attractive about Age of Connan? Nadril
A diablo MMO would certainly peak my interests, if blizzard did it right. I'm more of hoping for a solid Diablo III though, and not an MMO of it.
whocares
Blizzard needs to get to work on a sequel to Warcraft III that's not a MMORPG, but a RTS.
Lionheart_0
Blizzard needs to get to work on a sequel to Warcraft III that's not a MMORPG, but a RTS. :? with Starcraft coming out, and all the past games, I think they have made enough RTS games. WoW can be expanded to fit the storyline of the warcraft series, no more RTS is needed i think. If they do make a diablo game, I am wishing it is slightly different from the last two. whocares
Some people don't like MMORPG's, they want something laid back like RTS's. Blizzard has shyed away from some of their fans, especially if they never realease a new Warcraft RTS.
Nadril
They won't be making a new warcraft, it would be near impossible to fit it within the current timeline (as WoW is ever changing).
adam_ross0
I would guess Warcraft 4, Diablo 3, or a Diablo MMO. I remember seeing a preview of Diablo 3 that was (supposedly) at an E3 last year or the year before last. I say Warcraft 4 because WC 3 was a HUGE success..with games still going over battle.net every day, and copies selling by the hundreds still. My last guess would be a Diablo MMO..but I doubt it. Between Starcraft 2 and WoW, I would say they wouldn't go for another MMO yet.
underu2000
Starcraft Ghost being picked up again. EWWWw lets hope not. Are you kidding? I would give anything to see a good starcraft FPS. I mean, judging the trailer it would be pretty darn interesting to play. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.
Zonorhc
Probably Diablo. With forty people, they're not going to develop any sort of original game, and even looking at Blizzard's past performance, it's unlikely they'll even consider that in the foreseeable future. They haven't released a game that wasn't already part of an existing franchise for a decade. Korla
I would guess Warcraft 4, Diablo 3, or a Diablo MMO. Between Starcraft 2 and WoW, I would say they wouldn't go for another MMO yet. SC2 isn't a MMO, it's an RTS, and since they have an RTS in the works already, it's most likely not an RTS game. That means the likely genre is an MMO, an FPS or an Adventure/Roleplaying game with enough Single-player content to appeal to a different crowd than WoW already does. As far as setting goes they already have a futuristic and a fantasy active, so anything goes here I suppose. Also, to whomever said they didn't make a new series for a decade, it's actually 9 and the release of Starcraft in 1998 ;). Your point that it was a long time since they released something new still stands, but the conclusion is IMO more that they should release something completely new, especially considering they can afford a failure at this time what with WoW going so well and Starcraft's giant fanbase. Anyhow, my guess is Diablo III anyway, what I would REALLY like to see, and the only option I would consider spending any money on, is a Lost Vikings platform game with awesome pixel graphics and some cool innovative features :D But hey, I agree it's more likely they pump out some pre-fabricated brand of a game. But between making SC2 and developing and supporting WoW, I say they wouldn't try and make a Dablo MMORPG at this pont in time. My best guess would be Diablo 3. With an RTS being made, and an MMO currently being supported, Diablo 3 looks to me to be the most likely to be made next.
Tigra00
It's a Diablo MMO or Diablo 3. Probably Diablo 3, since the team isn't MMO sized. And it's too early for a new WoW expansion announcment, sooo. :P The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me! Pivotto
I'm hoping for either a Diablo 3, or a Diablo MMO. I'm guessing it would be either of those, so I'm kind of happy to hear this. Btw, when is Blizzcon?
