Revive the mage in all of us; Spell Stalves (dont bump)

Featured Replies

It's no secret; there are stalves out there that give you an unlimited amount of specific elemental runes, and other stalves that have a combonation of two different elemental runes. Now its also widley known that training in magic can become very expensixe, hence many use elemental and combonation stalves to cut down the cost. However, for a mage casting medium to high level combat spells, the effect of an elemental staff doesnt do that much.

If only we could create stalves that allowed us to cast just one battle spell of our choice, which required no additional runes. Well, thats the idea here.

A spell stalve:

Of course it cant be free to make! How would you have unlimited casts if all of those runes werent put "inside" the staff? Much like creating portals in your POH, or changing the element of a staff, you need all of the runes to do this. The requirement to make a stalve would be based off of the magic level required for the spell, and the amount of runes needed would be based off the level of the spell. (low, medium and high)

For low, strike spells: 100x required runes for one regular cast

For medium, bolt spells: 200x required runes for one regular cast

For high, wave spells: 300x required runes for one regular cast

So for example, an earth wave staff would require 2100 earth runes, 1500 air runes, and 300 blood runes to make.

To make the staff, you need any kind of staff relavent to the spell. For example, making an earth wave staff would require some kind of earth staff. It can be a regular elemental staff, a battlestaff, or a mystic staff.

After collecting this and the runes, you need to take those items to the obelisk relevant to the staff and spell. With everything needed in your inventory, use the staff on the obelisk. You will now have a spell staff. If you weild it, you will now have unlimited runes for ONLY that spell. So if you have a spell that uses blood runes, it cant be used to replace blood runes for any other spell. Here is what the magic page would look like while holding the staff.

Another thing you can do with it is change the spell with the best available crytal ball from the study in your POH. Ifr you have the required runes, you can change it there.

I believe that the stalves should look a little special. With straight wood, unlike normal stalves, maybe decorated with some sort of trim wrapping around it.

*****The MOST IMPORTANT note I am including about these stalves is that casting the spell will ABSOLUTLY NOT give you any magic xp. If they did, then people would be able to reach amazing magic levels in no time, and for almost no money (besides making the staff or buying it).

*** Another big note I forgot before... These should NOT work in the wilderness!

You would get about a fourth of the total xp for making a staff, that you would for casting all of the spells you could get out of the required runes you have.

Thats the idea! Share your thoughts please

Hmm... Perhaps you could get some xp out of making the staff. I don't know, but maybe giving the amout of xp for the amount of casts you could get out of the amount of runes required for the staff would be too much.

:-k

Any ideas?

picture7eo0.png

How bout you get one fourth of exp from casting the spell?

Wongton is better than me in anyway~~

Sounds like a good idea to me!

Hmmm... I wonder why there's 24 views and only one post besides my own... :-k :wall:

Not gonna happen. Free Pking basically.

And I for one would get an untrimmed Slayer cape.

Who wouldn't?

Lets make this clear... stalves is the politicaly correct plural use of the word staff....

And I though I made it perfectly clear in the first post that these could not be used in the wilderness. I guess I forgot that... #-o

AND although yes, you could go for a slayer cape with this, its no advantage over using melee for that purpose, when the only thing you are using up is food. Even so, there is guthans for that, of course with the cost of ocasional repair.

OK, you get 1/4 of the total exp for the spell needed. If you not only can't get any further exp from them, but also can't use them in the wild, what ones have any real use? That would be the ones using high alchemy, enchants, and superheat item. The others aren't going to be worth a whole lot in usefulness. This is possibly one of the worst thought out (consequence wise) ideas ever. Can you even IMAGINE the havoc that free enchants, alchs, and superheats would cause?

Don't talk smack if you're not willing to say it to the person's face. On the same line, if you're not willing to back up your opinions no matter what, your opinion may as well be nonexistent.

I would suggest that depending on the level of the spell a specific type of staff should be required (ie. regular elemental staff for strike spells, battlestaff for bolt and blast spells, and mystic staff for wave spells) instead of all staves working for all spell levels. This will keep the staves stats and costs in better balance with their power.

I'd also like to point out that you missed the blast spells when figuring your rune costs

For low, strike spells: 100x required runes for one regular cast

For medium, bolt spells: 200x required runes for one regular cast

For high, wave spells: 300x required runes for one regular cast

the above should read:

For basic level strike spells: 100x required runes for one regular cast

For low level bolt spells: 200x required runes for one regular cast

For medium level wave spells: 300x required runes for one regular cast

For high level wave spells: 400x required runes for one regular cas

I'd like it. But only have it for things like the basic elemental spells. Up to wave. Ths would prevent people from having a cosmic staff, and being able to enchant 1000+ ammys.

A teleport staff would be cool. It should use 1000 law runes ONLY. And can only teleport you to the places depending on your lvl. Also no tele other spells.

a better idea would be to be able to put runes into stalves to save space

so u culd put the runes for 1000 air waves into a stalve and that stalve would b able to cast 1000 air waves

No. Even if you didn't get exp and stuff imagine when people start making ice barrage staffs and go to daggonoths or something. You may not get exp but your going to get alot of drops, and fast. Lvl 3's could sit at lesser demons for hours on end get rune meds to sell. Infact, it would be the new autoing place. People would give their lvl 3 a air spell stalf park them at lessers and just have them collect rune mediums. Not to mention this would absolutely rape bloods prices and stuff.

I would however support being able to bind runes with a staff for that many spells. So if you use 9 air runes, 12 fire runes and 3 chaos runes, and you bind them with the staff you get 3 fire bolts. I'm all for that. Rangers take up mininmal space in inventrory as do meleers but once mages start bringing telblock and stuff it starts to matter.

About your original suggestion the only time I might ever want to see this implememnted, CASTLE WARS REWARD. I personally have never done it, but I have a feeling you waste a crap load of bloods using those kind of spells with absolutely nothing back. 1k tickets or something for this would be great. Bow with unlimmited rune arrows as well. =/

Just confirmed Dags are multi and they drop keys, gems, herb seeds, drag spear, rune javs, rune spear, half drag shield, and some other stuff. Even if your not getting drag spear every drop, gems are worth alot sold to the right people, half drag shield (last time I checked was good), rune javs in bunches I'm sure can be sold for alot..... This honestly wouldn't work.

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

^^^At least I'm not the only crazy one

lol yea this would mean that slayer and quests would be pointless... :?

I don't agree with a free spell, even if it does cost you.(Not sure that made sense) Or even without EXP. Free alchs...yeah right..But I DO agree with "chaging" the staff, so that way you wouldn't need runes. Like 700 fires, 500 airs, 100 bloods=100 Fire Waves. Good thought though.

I'd love to have that ingame but Jagex won't do it without making it 10x harder then you made it yourself.

Thats just how Jagex rolls... <.<

Nice Idea. Only if there's no laws and nature staves...

I'd really like Death or Chaos staffs
