August 14, 200718 yr Hey, After 2 years 3 months of scaping, im being forced to quit by my dad. He says its cause ill be having a very busy school year, which is kinda true. -.- Now the good thing is that he is gonna reconsider once he sees my first quarter grades  My plan is to sell all my dragon hide bodies and buy a santa! *Ill be giving the extra 2m to a rl friend* Now here is the discussion part of the thread: 1. Do you think it fair that I should be forced to quit, even tho I have: A: Only ever played rs on Friday, Saturday and a little on Sunday. B: I have maintained a 3.7 gpa my freshmen and sophmore years. C: I play varsity sports <---lol fixed it D: I have never gotten a detention (stuff like that) even in my entire life 2. Do you think that It could be good for me, cause being forced into buy a rare and siting on it might be the best thing that happend to me. You never santas could jump 100% while im gone. Discuss O:) I would call it a blessing in disguise, you would have alot more time to study even though you have good grades, you can spend more time with your friends and family even thought you don't play alot no comment on it being fair or not, and kudos on no detentions! I've had several. :-w Anyway, on topic, you never know if the santas will jump up, but when you think about it, the only thing rares can do is jump in price. Anyway, good luck with school, I have to register for first year tomorrow (sp?) [hide=Runescape stats and Xfire thing.][/hide]
August 14, 200718 yr I think its way unfair you are being forced to stop playing. I don't see why your dad sees it as such a problem. I play about 2hrs a day but still go on a 2hr bike ride and all my homework done Barrows Drops: Guthans Helm, Dharok Legs, Ahrims Hood
August 14, 200718 yr I have an issue (one of many) with the word "fair". Very rarely is life ever fair, we just have to deal with whatever comes before us. Make the most of the "RS rest time" in school and out of school and just see what happens afterwards. As someone said earlier, you may find that you don't want to come back. You may find that you go into withdrawl from not being able to play, in which case it's probably for the best (not saying you're adicted to RS, but you might be and not realise it :-$ ). But just take advantage of the change. You just never know what good can come out of something 'bad'. WARNING: Prone to ramble ... but you probably already know that!1% F2P : 99% RL
August 15, 200718 yr Author Thanks everyone. I have offically givin away full dragon and a fury + 2m cash to my rl friend. He can make good use of it while im gone. While im not playing tho, im gonna see just how good my social life can get. I got a car, so that makes things 10 times easier. *picture of my car* Well, all I can do now is wait. Today is my last day of summer, gotta do some summer reading, but I only got 20 more pages. Then some shoping. Cya around, not quiting tip.it if i can help it tho :XD: 2181st to 99 Runecrafting on 7/28/2009
August 15, 200718 yr Doesn't matter if it's fair or not, real life goes before computer games. I think that sums it up. I know that it may not have much effect on your real life, but if your dad wants you to quit I think you honor that choice and move on. Edit- and sheesh that car is gonna be a gas guzzler. Are you paying for the gas? Getting another sig[removed]
August 15, 200718 yr Same situation as you. Though I play intensively, it doesn't affect my school grades. I'll prove my dad wrong passing my exam with flying colours. Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.
August 15, 200718 yr Well, my parents said as long as I keep my grades up and stay active in sports, I can play. I'm only goin to grade 8 this year, so I guess its easier for me to maintain high grades 8-) But honestly if you can say with a full heart that you're not addicted to runescape (and PROVE it to yourself, not just "I can stop anytime i want, just not now") and your dad is interfering, then I think there might be room for discussion. However, if you find you're using every minute of your spare time on weekends to play runescape, then maybe you're dad is helping prevent you from growing up to be a fat single guy living in his basement. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. I own. http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.

August 15, 200718 yr My girlfriend is constantly trying to get me quit because sh sees RS as "a silly waste of time". :boohoo: Pretty much what Dragon said.Thread terminated.I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator? No Tip.Iters were harmed in the making of this post.
August 15, 200718 yr It doesn't matter how good your grades are, but if it's going to be a busy school year, quit. Or just play when you're done all studying or whatever. Runescape first...er...real life first. Sorry. :P My F2P Moneymaking Guide!Always gargle before a takeoff. Wakka Wakka!

August 15, 200718 yr When I was in 8th grade, my parents told me that 9th grade would be a lot more work and I should play less RS. When I was in 9th grade, my parents told me that 10th grade would be a lot more work and I should play less RS. They were wrong. In my own experience, there's rarely a big increase in workload from year to year (except maybe from high school to college), and individual teachers are more of a factor than anything else. As long as you keep good grades, stay active in sports, and have an active social life, there's no reason why you should have to quit because you're starting a new grade. Schoolwork first, RS second. But if you finish your schoolwork (and make sure that it's as good as it can possibly be), there's absolutely nothing wrong with playing for a reasonable period of time a day. Oh, and for the answer to your original question: bad thing. Though when/if you start playing again, it'll be fun to catch up on all of the updates.
August 16, 200718 yr I played rs through highschool a little bit everyday and i got pretty decent grades. I dont see why playing on the weekends would cause such a problem. But if you're being forced to quit and want to keep playing, make sure you get those good grades so that your dad reconsiders. :) Afterall he's doing it for a good reason. P2P offers more and better ways of making money than f2p. That's one of the cons you just have to play with if you don't feel like having 1 bigmac meal less per month.
August 16, 200718 yr Probably a good thing, for the first month for me when I stopped playing it was weird but then you find things to do instead its easier to focus on homework, or at least it was for me but, if you dont find something to fill in for RS you can get pretty bored Feel free to pm me in game
August 16, 200718 yr Heres an idea: Say you quit(cancel membership and everything) but keep your account. When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!"
August 16, 200718 yr Your GPA will always matter more then a computer game... GPA? whats that a year 12 certificate? i know ours is HSC in australia.... ot: im in the same boat as you mate, runescape has no affect on me but dad thinks otherwise. YR11 preliminaries soon and i have no study space atm till we move in 2 months. Probably a good thing, for the first month for me when I stopped playing it was weird but then you find things to do instead its easier to focus on homework, or at least it was for me but, if you dont find something to fill in for RS you can get pretty bored hell yes. i've reduced myself to downloading tons of ROM's for N64/GBA emulators to keep me occupied, and being on dial-up isn fun to download them either Popoto.~<3
August 16, 200718 yr A good or a bad thing? It depends. If your grades are going up, it sure is a good thing. The same happened to me, good grades and Runescape dont go together in my case. Why spend that much time on a game if you are working for your future? And what if you have finished this year at school, and you passed with great grades. You will have a long vacation, summer vacation. If you want to play again, you cant because you sold all your stuff and then its a bad thing that you quit. You wish that you didnt sell it and gave it away, because you want to play again. My advice to you, stop playing but dont give anything away. Who knows if you are going to play again in a couple of months/years? And, you have to be strict to yourself. If you log in again, you might spend to much time again and stay in the circle. Good luck with your schoolyear, dont let Runescape fool you :) [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]
August 16, 200718 yr Although it may be for the best i believe that everyone should be able to quit RS when they feel ready.
