Im being forced to quit. Good thing or Bad thing?

Featured Replies

ok, youre being forced to quit because you will have a busy school year..? what does playing RS have to do with having a busy school year??? really! i mean you said you only play a little, on the weekends. none of the teachers i have EVER had have EVER given me homework on the weekends. (ok projects... but thats another story...)

and come on, RS can help with school! i mean, typing faster, knowing math better if not the exact answer a good estimate, and being to come up with great adventuring stories, knowing about medevil times,no RS isnt exactly what medevil times were, but come on, it has been portrayed to have magic, knights of the round table, merlin, excaliber, etc. etc. etc. now why would he want you to stop?! i mean it keeps you occupied so no drugs(just a huge thing on parents minds) you will have a social live, sports and only playing lightly on the weekends is nothing. now every grade ive been in has NOT had that busy of a school load to not play RS. i mean the small amount of math problems i didnt do in school.

now, after all this time youve been playing he is just now not wanting you to play RS?!? no matter what grade youre going in to, its not going to be THAT much harder... i mean when i went from 8th grade to 9th grade, it was just about the same work..... so ya if you could be playing for the year before, youll be able to handle school ,ad RS, and sports, etc. etc.

and really, dont sell all your stuff, no matter if you cant play for the first quarter of school, a santa probably wont go up that much, look at the last year... really, you should play RS to the fullest the time before youre forced to quit, make the most of it, before you come back, or just can keep playing all together!

dont leave us :!:  :P

Do what ur dad says. He wanted me to stop playing so he cut the internet off. Anyway, real life ALWAYS comes first

Well I think it's your own responsibility and you've never done bad because of Rs.

Runescape > life :|. I play way too much, and still manage to get good grades. 8-)

Good morning everyone!

First off, thanks you jackass for making me feel [cabbage]ty

for not being able to spell a work right. Can't help it.

Thanks all of you how voiced your concerns, and how

logic has no place in my parents heads.

I think that this can be a good thing for a few reasons,

(mom is yelling at me atm to get off tip.it)

Well, Ill get on l8er I gess and make some quotes :XD:

My mom absolutely hates the fact I play rs, but I get excellent grades so she doesn't have an excuse to kick me off 8-)

Have your parents said exactly why they're forcing you off?

Anyways, if you are forced, put a few Ms into MTK (100% on flax, 50% on maples for maximum profit), and use the rest of your money on the biggest rare you can afford. Just log in once each day and get your popularity back up to 100%.

ull thank himsoon... btw the person who said rs > life, you need your computer removing from you... even if you get good grades thats messed up that your main priority in life is a computer game, the idea of computer games is to fill time.

with rs you click logout and its over ready for next time you can play.

with rl you cant hide from problems etc. grow a backbone and dont dedicate your life to a game.

It's probably a good thing to be honest. You can focus more on grades/RL and succeed more in School.

I'm sure you could still pop on here and there. :P

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

RIP Michaelangelopolous

Are you taking good english classes?

anywho, it's totally fair, school + rl > rs, no matter what the case is.

That's why it's taken me so long to get 99 fishing O:)

My dad has norton security blocking runescape.com. No way to keep my popularity at 100%. It would be down to like 1% by the time I log on next = lose of money :ohnoes:

Busy school year? Give me a break. I just finished high school without ever dropping below 90%, yet I had plenty of time for RS. So unless you want to endlessly socialize or are the type of person who has to study for hours each day to get good marks, I really don't see why you should quit. There has to be some better reason why he's forcing you to quit.

Lol at your parents for thinking you'll spend the time you would have spent playing rs studying. Tbh my parents would rather me play more rs instead of making a nuisance of myself.

People who say they quit rs for school have to play so much, like not doing homework just so they can play rs.

Unfair, definitely, so long as you can retain a reasonable balance, what's the difference between an hour on runescape or an hour watching TV, unless you are chained to your study desk the whole time.

And it sounds like you HAVE been keeping a reasonable balance.

Doesn't matter if it's fair or not, real life goes before computer games.

But it isn't having any effect on my rl, thought I made that clear. plz don't address me like I got a problem <.<

You said yourself that you'll be having a busy school year, just make sure your grades are good and you'll be fine.

Pssh, I'm in a college class in highschool, play rs 4 hours a day, and have a 3.8 GPA. Who says you can't ace school and rs?

I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Comped 4/30/15

personally I don't think it would be good to get forced out of playing, I'm very glad that I decided to do it myself, it was a much better way to go. Real life is alot more fun anyways. Lots of girls and fun times to be had <3: . Give real life a chance, its alot of fun.

personally I dont think rs effected my grades at all. I don't play anymore and my grades still aren't good :XD:

Jesus, some people think this guy is an RS addict!

"The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."

siggy3s.jpg

I understand why your parents would do it, but they're not grasping the whole picture. As others have said, so you can't play runescape, you're not going to be using that time to study either. And if you've been maintaining a good GPA, why should they care? My dad hates that I play it as well, but he can't do anything about it since I'm like, a genius (not to be immodest or anything  ).

I can't really say whether it's good or bad, you won't play forever anyway and will probably come to regard it as tons of wasted hours, but it's fun while it lasts :) .

p2gq.jpg

averaged a B on my final grades, got an excellent report on my fitness and i play a lot of runescape daily.

if the playing gets out of control, then maybe you should consider taking a break or quit and take your dads word for it. since it has no huge impact on any of your studies, keep playing and make your grades more appealing. try to get your dad to satisfy with your computer habit. quittings not a bad thing, but its not a good thing either if you rarely spend time on anything else.

Your grades are fine. You don't play RS obsessively. You play sports...Personally, I don't see a real reason that you should have to quit.

Well, since you're mister know-it-all, you should have known that English is capitalized.

He already explained his misspellings.

And, parents can be funny sometimes. But just keep your grades up and you'll be back sooner than you know it. Who knows, maybe you won't want to come back. :XD:

Quit RS, combat 104, total 1651

Your parents mean well and want the best for you. They know that the qualifications/grades that you gain through school/college/university will take you further in life than the levels that you gain in an online java game.

But that doesn't mean you can't have fun along the way. As long as you prioritise you workload.

Negotiate a compromise. Work first, then play. let playing RS be your reward for doing well at your studies.

School is easy, especially American school, anyone with half a brain (I'm being entirely literal there) can come out of school with decent grades. Your dad is being an asshat as so many parents tend to be, i dislike the authoritarian, you do as i say because i know whats best for you, because I'm old attitude do a degree no words can express. Age does not and has never equaled wisdom. Many people will yell at you that 'reel life and skool are teh most imprtant tings der be', and they will speak like that and the irony will smack you in the face with such force you are forced to assume they are joking but sadly they are not, ignore these people and their 'advice', your intelligent enough to decide for yourself what course is best, don't be bullied by others. - Thats just some general advice for you -
