Self-sufficiency

I think that it would be a very nice feature to turn off trading until combat level 20/Total level 500. :)

This brings up a similar thought I had. What if no one skill could be more than double your lowest skill? (F2P would of course disregard the P2P skills.)

The primary negative result (as they would see it) would be that true pures (both skillers and PKers) would cease to exist. I happen to think skill pures make about as much sense as teats on a bull, but apparently I'm in the minority there. As for PK pures, they of course do make sense, but as we all know the line between "pure" and "main" is becoming blurrier all the time. The scenario I suggested would force all melee pures, for example, to become rune pures, which many are already doing anyway.

One positive would be that botters would be forced to round out their characters, which would "waste" their time. They would simply automate each skill of course, but it would still lessen the number of bots raping any given tree. But the most important positive (as I see it) would be a much more self-sufficient, well-rounded player base. In order to reach 99 in any skill, all your skills would have to be at least 50. That's not even a very drastic requirement, as 50 can be reached in a day, and most players who are flirting with a 99 skill are already well beyond 50 in the others.

Be pretty bad for me.

I am a member for only this summer. So little time, I didn't take time to raise any member skills, excluding agility, beyond what I needed for quests, etc. Once school starts, I sell my member stuff and I go back to nonmembers. I'll be confided to 2 in any given skill (1 construction, I personally don't like it as I can't even see my house in f2p).

If all member skills are disregarded in f2p then agility may not work in f2p, which lose one of the main reasons why I trained it, excluding shortcuts.

Although I like what it's based on.

I am slightly self sufficiant, as a buy most of my runes from the shops, fish my own fish, and up till I did d slayer, only got my armor from general stores (I used mith for the longest time). But to have no trading? I would not have the monie to buy from the shops <.< .

Monster drops would be the main way to get armor and i would keep all my god armor from clues. But apart from my armor I can look after myself reasonably ok, but then again i mightnt have gotten my levels if it wasnt for the work of others

Well in recent past the only things i bought was ess for my rcing and guthans and veracs sets. Can we implement that change? I would be very happy because well i'm pretty well sufficient and with current status i will by flying thru runescape.

Also why would you wanna alch if money means almost nothing, expect for items that are in stores?

1500+ total 89 cmb; 1600+ total and under 93 cmb.

02/04/07 reached all skills 60+ under lvl 90 cmb.

07/19/07 reached all skills 70+ at lvl 93 cmb.

Everyone would be wearing barrows, because that's easy to get compared to 99 smith.

Ya i would certianly not have any of my armour or my rares.

But i guess it would be good for everyones stats :)

I was looking at my stats tonight and wondered to myself, "what if there was no trading system in RS?" If everyone had to make their own armor, for example, how many would be wearing full rune? I certainly wouldn't, not even close.

Just a dumb thought I had. I realize trading is a huge part of the appeal of the game and I'm not calling for its removal. But it's interesting to think how differently we would play without it. There would certainly be a lot less drop-training of skills (something I can't bring myself to do as it is)!

Obviously it would never work in F2P anyway (arrows, high level runes, etc.) OK I'm rambling... :-P

I would be running around in full rune :)

Well, seeing as I was poor for most of my Runescape "life" I was forced to supply myself with all the raw materials I used.

True, it was very boring and slow, but it helped me train my skills. :)

Pretty much what Dragon said.

Thread terminated.

I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator?

No Tip.Iters were harmed in the making of this post.
