August 25, 200718 yr don't know why everyone keeps saying dimmu borgir, they are no death metal by any means. as for death metal,it would probably have to be,the band with the fitting name:death, who were pioneers and were brilliant. as for other excellent death metal bands, morbid angel bloodbath cryptopsy decapitated
August 25, 200718 yr Death is one my favorite bands; Dimmu Borgir is definitely one of the best for melodic death metal. Children of Bodom is also good, if you consider them death metal.

Moopy <3 Anyway, i appreciate the technical ability many death metal bands have. I just don't ever seem to be in the right mood to listen to it. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

August 25, 200718 yr The header said death metal, yet there are posts about black metal. Strange. Oh well, some of my favorites are: Morbid Angel, Opeth ("progressive DM"), Amon Amarth, Dismember, At The Gates, Grave, Hypocrisy, Bolt Thrower, Entombed, In Flames (early years).. etc. J'adore aussi le sexe et les snuff moviesJe trouve que ce sont des purs moments de vieJe ne me reconnais plus dans les gensJe suis juste un cas désespérantEt comme personne ne viendra me réclamerJe terminerai comme un objet retrouvé

Dimmu is most obviously not death metal. I believe the best label would be "symphonic black metal" as tabbed in The Metal Archives. Nor is Bodom death metal. They are a derivative of power metal. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
August 25, 200718 yr The only death metal band I really like is Death. I really like the genre, I just don't really know any big names in it. I plan on getting some more Death, and I'll look into some of the youtube links posted. ;P It really has

WTH WITH BODOM!? HOW CAN A SONG BE DEATH METAL? ITS THE GENRE OF THE BAND ITSELF, GAH This topic says metal heads only, if you don't know anything, please don't post. :wall: Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
August 27, 200718 yr WTH WITH BODOM!? HOW CAN A SONG BE DEATH METAL? ITS THE GENRE OF THE BAND ITSELF, GAH Well, sometimes a band makes a little trip to another genre as well. And out of that trip sometimes comes something that is different to what they have made earlier. So I guess it's perfecly possible that some songs would fall in the DEATH METAL genre, where others don't. It's like Steely Dan, they have some rock tracks, but they also have some jazz tracks. It would be weird as well if the genre would be the band itself. What if Necrophagist would make a rap song, just one. Then you wouldn't call it DEATH METAL, right? But you wouldn't call them a rap group either. So what is it? A rap song by a Death Metal band. And now it would be a Death Metal song by a Power Metal band. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

The ballad "Angel" was alternitive. "Breaking the Law" is rock N' roll, not speed metal... How2PK made excellent points : Poopingman, I evidentally know what I'm talking about a bit better than you  .
