I haven't seen Dork in ages, but I know that he and Devoted will both make great moderators.

I don't think it's favourtism. Have a look at Forum Updates and Suggestions and have a look at Devoted's ideas there. They are useful and shows he knows something about these forums.

I think becoming is mod is more than an 11 day thing. These two were probably being looked at over time.

Not a single person in staff, not even an Admin, has the power to make a user a mod on their own. Each mod candidate is reviewed by several staff for a long time, favoritism doesn't pass through that.
