September 2, 200718 yr What do you see when you look at another player? Their combat level. Combat is the most obvious way to improve your character in Runescape, so of course it's the first thing a lot of players do. that i understand I don't gauge a person by their combat level, especially now with skill capes. I admire someone with, say, a 99 rc cape :-w , to a person with 3-125 combat. Qizx2- ArchmagePersonnumber100- Warlock for life.Would you?
September 2, 200718 yr first thing i did was mine, i could mine coal before i could survive the scorpions in the crevase. one of the main reasons is that skills only go so far in F2P. its pretty much useless to do anything but combat, because that is the best skill.
September 2, 200718 yr Well, here is my crack at the explanation. When lower levels have sight of the higher levels, they sought to be like them, wear the same armour, and in their own right: be powerful. For example, at first I thought Black Armour was truly indeed an awesome armour to have possession of. So I trained and trained my combat while neglecting my non-combat skills so I can get to the certain level to wield that armour. However, I found out that I could not afford the armour. :boohoo: So there I was, woodcutting and mining and such to make ends meet. I believe that after a certain point new players will begin to understand the importance of GP which can be obtained through other skills. 99 Hits, Attack, Strength, Defence, Mage, Summoning, Slayer, Ranged, 96/99 Prayer

September 2, 200718 yr Everything, even skills, are aimed for combat as the end result. It's inevitable in competitive online games not to have combat as the primary deciding factor. "300 programmers make their futile but glorious last stand against 1000000 angry players in The battle of Misthalin. They fight for honor, glory and new content sacrificing themselves so that their game may live on. This is Madness! This Is JAGEEEX!"

September 3, 200718 yr i bet 75% of the new players have mains, and 100% of new players have used bots...does any think that In this game, there is a difference between "new player" and "pure". Since there seem to be many more new players than pures, I would say that you're far from the real percentage that nobody knows. Also, I have no idea where you got the idea that every new person is cheating scum. Truthscape - qeltar's excellent insights into RuneScape and moreCave Story - Best Free RPG ever-Retired. Forever-

September 3, 200718 yr Some OLD players still never skill. *cough* Zoidnerd *cough* O:) Love ya Zoid. They're used to other games like HALO, Battefield 2142, Counter Strike. (I hate all of those but hey, people love em) Maybe they are just used to kill kill kill kill 'til they're dead, that they don't realize how fun skilling can be. I personally HATE combat, but hey, whatever floats your boat right? I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. September 3, 200718 yr Combat is logicaly what most people are going to do. I spent like 2 hours on tutorial island and I was so excited and the first thing I saw was goblins so I decided to fight them. This was a good move on my part because I was like lvl11 by the time I moved on and did mining and smithing which was fun. This led me back to combat because I had better armour and arms. Also helps when you relize your better then all those guys in Lumbridge. Get me a whopper!

It's certainly true of my first character, at least, until I discovered the simpler joys of mining and smithing and made my current main, whom I classify as a miner more than a fighter. September 3, 200718 yr so i think combat is all new players want to do. what about all the things they tell them on tutorial do they listen? or just let them start straight away :?: :?: :?: :wall: ---------------------------------------- Well, surely it's not all that new players want to do, but it certainly does get a heavy focus, both in RuneScape and other media. Other popular MMORPGs like World of Warcraft focus mostly on combat, as to many video games (Which is a common prerequisite to RuneScape, the common video game) Now, obviously there are exceptions, but I believe there is a heavy combat focus from newer players, derived both from the general attitude in RuneScape as well as popular culture. :ohnoes: :wall: im sorry english? Not is all well in the mind of ckyowns I sense. Foolish you are. Read your own post before criticizing someone else's you should.
September 3, 200718 yr With recent "awesome" equipment like GS, Bandos, DBow, attention will divert more to combat than before. Not really. I started in like July-August 05. I had never heard of a Whip, D Chain, or Barrows Armor until I got pretty far into the game. I didn't even read updates when I started. So some people probably won't find out about God Wars stuff for a while. I believe I trained combat a bit, found bashing Goblins horrible money and tried Mining and Smithing. Didn't know about Cowhides at 100 ea :wall:. I got Mining and Smithing pretty high for a noob and got my first Rune Pick by selling the Steel Short Swords I made to Varrock Swords. Lol, I didn't know the Steel Bars were worth like 500 ea. I also remember doing some WCing, selling oaks to the general store 2 ea, then hitting 30 and not being able to find Willows. 4x Phat owner: Blue, Green, 2x Purple 3100+ GWD bosses soloed.Solo GWD Drops:5 Bandos Plates, 4 Bandos Boots, 3 Bandos Hilts, 2 Arma Helms, Arma Skirt, Arma Plate, 3 Arma Hilts, 4 Zammy Spears, Steam Staff, 15 Sara Swords, 6 Sara Hilts, 29 Shards.

September 3, 200718 yr Yah, I personally didn't read the updates until after I got members. That was like 2.5 years ago (I started in 2004). I played for 5 or 6 months as f2p, after which I completed all quests, and filled up my bank, and wanted more.
September 3, 200718 yr I used to love skilling and up until a year or so ago it was favorite thing to do. Nowadays though I just find it boring and pointless because combat for me is now more fun and a faster way to advance and make money. Occasionally I will still pick up my axe or harpoon but I become bored very quickly.
September 3, 200718 yr If all they want to do is combat, who cares? Sure, they're depriving themselves of virtually every other aspect of the game, but if that's how they want to play it, that's up to them.
