For a while I thought that Algebra was the spawn of Satan...

Featured Replies

Then I got to puberty. I hate acne. No matter what I use, I can't seem to get rid of it! Its not like "Oh my gosh look at her face bad!" but its just enough to drive me friggin' nuts! Does anybody have any products they use that work really well? Or even home remidies that get the job done? I know all skin types are different, but if it works for you, I might as well try it, I have nothing to loose. :wall:

Astringent, just a little something. But as far as getting all of it gone do not use pro-active:boohoo:

My mom always says "Sweetie, thats for people who have really bad pimples, if you get any worse we'll try it." I always get that answer... even when it is worse... :wall:

Algebra IS the spawn of Satan.

Just use any old over-the-counter cream, it's inevitable that you will get it but apply the stuff daily and you should be reasonably well off.

Belt sanders work well. If you cant afford a belt sander, just sand paper. and if thats too painful, Clearasil is good stuff. Im one of those few lucky kids who hasnt been plagued by acne so far...... :-w

Algebra's freakin' easy. Puberty's not too bad either. Of course, I have little acne and I started when I was about 10-11.

Mmhm. Just get some pads for your face and you'll do fine unless you get more, while using them.

I wish getting rid of acne was just a matter of algebra...

"Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

If the acne's giving you trouble see your family doctor. There are plenty of prescription drugs that work wonders especially for girls. I hope all goes well for you.

I have a friend that took some kind of acne drug and he says it messed up his face. Something about it cut back on the natural oils his skin produced permanently.

I think that particular drug got taken off the market a few years after he used it but ya never know what other drugs out there that are supposedly fine right now will end up being taken off the market eventually.

Use a 10% glycolic acid cream, usually found in anti-wrinkle creams.

Glycolic acid helps dead skin slough itself off, and it helps keep your pores clean, which is the main cause of acne - clogged pores.

Never try Pro-Active. They fail to mention that all Pro-Active is, is Benzoyl Peroxide and Salacyclic acid...Which they've been using in products like Clearasil FOR AGES (those don't work either). This will not work for a majority of people.

As far as I know of, glycolic acid has no ill-side effects like BP or SA. BP is extremely drying and bad for your skin..All BP does is kill P. Acnes bacteria, but rarely helps. For most people, it works for a few months, then the bacteria are all but immune. SA is alright, but doesn't work. SA is a chemical that also helps slough off dead skin, but it's pretty weak in low concentrations and it doesn't keep your pores clean.

I've had acne for a long [wagon] time. Since I was like 13, or something. I'm 20 goin' on 21 now, and it just now seems like it's finally going away...All of a sudden like a week ago my face stopped producing as much oil and I haven't been getting any pimples. *Shrug* WHATEVER, SKIN. YOU'RE STUPID! :P I've taken pretty much everything, Accutane included (that stuff RAWKS like you wouldn't believe) and Glycolic Acid is the ONLY thing that does anything at all for me, sans Accutane. Accutane cleared my skin completely for 6 months, but after that it started to come back a little. Since then, Glycolic Acid has kept my skin pretty much 100% clear.

I'd give it a try. I have a bottle in my bathroom that I bought like 3 months ago and it's only half gone...6 ounce bottle, that is. It lasts a long time. You only need a few dabs for your whole face. Only problem is, I can't find my particular brand in stores. I have to go to drugstore.com to get it. It's in a little white bottle with a red top and red lettering that says "AHA" I think. It's like 5 or 10 bucks, lol.

Edit: From the sounds of it, guys, she doesn't have acne, she has pimples. It's kinda' different. Pimples suck, whereas acne is life-ruining for some people. These people need perscriptions...I don't think she does. For all she knows, she'll have pimples for a couple years and then nothing. I wouldn't start telling her to go to the doctor and stuff. Doctors are evil and will put her on BP, which is something she doesn't want.

I've heard proactiv works really well on alot of different types of skins, but it is very expensive and obviously isn't guaranteed to work well (or at all). The unfortunate truth for some people is that they just have to live with it through the teenage years.

Yes, I live in the USA, and yes, they sell things like that here. Glycolic Acid is usually found in anti-wrinkle creams, usually labled "AHA" and stuff like this. Alpha-Hydroxy Acids, they're called. Like I said, I buy mine online at Drugstore.com, but there are plenty in Wal*Mart and Walgreen's and the like, I'm sure. It's just that my particular brand, I haven't seen in stores. I'm very careful about what I use on my skin, so if I find something that works, I never change it, hence why when I first bought this to try it, and it worked...I'd rather buy it online than try something else. :P

When I had acne I used Minocin, which is an antibiotic. It takes a couple months to take effect, and then you're pretty much set. It's expensive though, so don't go for it unless you've got medical coverage.

Luckily for me i was never a sweaty/acne induced person, although a good friend of mine still is, hes REALLY bad but its natural i think because hes the most cleanly (is that a word?) person i know. I recommend you wash.

Begone, ye ignorant swine.

Washing your skin/hair too much can actually make acne worse, which is why some people's cases get more elevated than they should have, which was probably my case. If you wash all the Sebacious oil off your skin, your skin wants to replace it, so if you wash too much, your skin will start over-compencating, making TOO much oil, starting a vicious "omg oily skin! must wash!" cycle that it's hard (rather, impossible) to get out of. Sweat has absolutely nothing to do with acne, either. Infact, if anything, sweating helps because it naturally cleans your pores out.

What I find funny is that you completely ignore the fact that your friend is clean but still has acne, and rather than go "oh, wait.." you instead continue on with stupid myths and insult everyone here who's ever had a pimple. Good job, champ.

The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past.
