I watched that 30-something-second clip of you owning those guys. Cool. :P

Would you mind telling me how to pwn in a Swords match? This has been a problem for me for a while now. I seem to suck at them. When two swords are clashed, I always lose. I seem to always lose at these matches. How do you win?

I was extremely impressed when Halo Combat Evolved came out. I was used to playing on the PS1 and N64 at the time. Co-op Halo was probably my favorite old school gaming experience.

Lol. Asking for help so that I won't own your [wagon] next time?

haha swords are easy. all you need is to practice timing.

as you may or may not know, there are two ways to attack with a sword. you can either hit the trigger (rb or w/e), or use b to preform a slash. the b-slash is faster than the trigger. it will swing the sword faster, and allow you to re-swing it faster as well.

here are a few situations you will find yourself in:

a) close combat. wait for your opponent to get close enough. once he is within range, tap the b button to either counter his attack, or kill him if he was too slow. if the sword is deflected, hit the b button quickly again to kill him (supposing that he is not using the b-button method). this will have transpired over about 1-2 seconds. even though it sounds slow in writing, the interval between the first and second slash should be very small.

B) a distance separates your opponent and you. even though you will be tempted to use the trigger to lunge (the b button will not lunge very far at all), control yourself. wait for him to approach and use the above method.

i destroyed level 45s in lone wolves when i was only 39 with swords. 40 next game yay.

also, when swords clash repeatedly, try to move around your opponent. most people will just hit b over and over waiting to kill you. try to sidestep while continually tapping b.

oh, also, if you clash swords and your opponent bounces back, you can use the trigger to lunge. but try to avoid the trigger.

Like Mrpez said, a lot of it is timing, but the B button thing works, too. I always used lunge first, though, and then hit B...needless to say that cost me a few lives.

Nope, it;s still there. Just dynamic now. 3 others, and the Blargh was actually up when I read that :P

No lunge? That's a pretty good attack sometimes, I think. When the crosshair turns red, you just pull the trigger and lunge right in. I think it works with the B button, but not as well, and not as far away.

A few tips:

Only use the lunge for the first attack. Once you lunge, your close enough to use the "melee" attack

Second, dance! Moving backwards allow you to dodge the next attack because chances are, the opponent will be using the B attack. What's better than moving back? Go sideways! When you clash, you partially lose vision so just keep in mind the location of the opponent when you're going to the side and lunge. He won't be able to block it (especially if you're behind him) and it's more accurate. Once you get confident, you can start using the B attack to be even deadlier.

If you see 2 or more people going at it, let them kill each other and assassinate the winner. Don't be greedy and try to take more than one, because chances of dying is pretty high.

Couldnt have said it better myself

Those are really good tips. I do agree, that "lunging first" method is a good way to start a match. And the B button is the most deadly. Dance around like a ninja and B button his [wagon].

If you're close enough, should you B button as your first attack? Isn't the transition between the B button attack to another B button attack shorter than the transition between a lunge attack to a B button attack?

^yes, definitely. As I said before, my lunge->B approach made me die several times to people who I'm sure just B->B'd because of the "reload" time after a lunge.

I realized earlier that I have 3 multiplayer achievements left; 2 for 1, Maybe Next Time Buddy, and Killing Frenzy. And then just Marathon Man (could've sworn I got every terminal....they do count in co-op, right?) and the meta-game point ones. And then katana

you can still block a lunge with another swipe

anyone every try crouching while in a br/sniper fight? my friend made it up in a game called "wolfenstein" or something, and calls it the wolfenstein crouch.

i used to use it a lot in ranked sniper games. its pretty self-explanatory, just crouch once or twice during a sniper fight just for half a second. if you aim right your opponent wont hit you at all.

just make sure you dont have your crouch options set to toggle-crouch.

I think I'm slowly getting better. The only problem is that to perfect my Swords skill, I'll need practice, and I can't always get a Swords match on Lone Wolves. And I'm sick of going down a few skill levels because I've been playing Lone Wolves for so long and my game is off.

Oh, and currently I'm trying out the Elite character, you know, to give it a chance. I like it. :P

I'd be glad to give a teaching or two ;) And I think the game is somehow biased against Elites. Every time there's some attack that happens at the exact same time (killing blow for each, non-sword) the spartan wins every single time. I've seen it happen to other Elites, too, and the Elite actually moves forward with his attack like a sword lunge with a rifle. And bam-EWlite down, Spartan might get hit, but live. It's rather interesting, even if it's pure coincidence.

But anyhow, yea, just message me some time if you feel like a swords match.

I;ve also made an infection map with nothing but grav lifts and man cannons. You can't walk in a straight line without being flung or lifted.

elite characters look awesome

i used commando helmet, commando shoulders, and ascetic(?) body. first color dark gray, secondary color white. looks so cool.

Really? I haven't noticed. I'll look out for this injustice. :o

Deal! I'm thinking either Saturday or Sunday might be perfect (I planned on playing a little 360 tonight, but by myself). I'll tell you ahead of time through PM. We can play with a few of my friends, too, if you're interested, and if they're interested. They have the best stuff on Forge (I never touch it lol, I should though).

Holy crap, that's my exact setup, only switch head and body. Same shoulders and colors though  Do you by any chance use the Mark of Shame as your emblem...?

And sounds good, rush.

i used to use the shame emblem, but now i use the rock-on one (i dont remember the actual name).

I use the crescent moon emblem. It took me a while to find the right color combination that suited me, but I did, and I love it.

And it goes great with the Elite! And the Spartan, too! It just looks awesome (but it looks especially awesome with the Elite)!

I've always used the Mark of Shame, even in Halo 2. Just looks awesome, and after H2 it's sort of a symbol for the Elites; a bunch of them in H3 have it on their chest plates somewhere, like homage to the Arbiter or something.

Edit: just found this, and I had to put it in here.

I used to use the Mark of Shame, with a saw blade background... can't remember the colours that well, though I know primary was red and secondary was gold.

Now, since I am a lieutenant in my clan I use Marathon symol, circle background. Colours: Primary steel, secondary steel, background orange.

PCGamingWiki - Let's fix PC gaming!

Alright, Im having a Forging problem. I've made a map on Foundry, an enclosed space filled with man cannons and grav lifts. I've got respawn points in there, and none outside, and yet when I test it in a custom game I continually spawn outside of the area with all of the spawn points. None are outside, yet I keep spawning there. What's going on? How do I fix it?
