2014. People will get tired of the game, and eventually it will fade away.

once something cheaper and better comes along.

 

 

 

at that point, the only ones left will be those who were loyal to the game from the day they started it. not necessarily dead, but a massive chunk of the players will leave and jagex may just abandon it.

In genral, Runescape has only made 1 HUGE improvement that drove people to play/buy membership.

I played in RSC, and, TBH it was...[cabbage] 2d characters walking around, grafixs were also [CABBAGE} Unless Jagax releases something extrodinary, its slowly loosing people. Sure, they got God Wars, d boots, D fulls out, but thats just trying to keep people member. I think in maybe 2 or 3 years, if nothing has been signifigantly changed, its going to die...

Im thinking this too. I wouldnt have played RSC back in the day with those graphics had I found it, so, I give her 3-4 more years.

Just like any online game after it gets old and outdated; unless jagex makes a massive shift to a world of warcraft style mmo, the game will revert to only a small amount diehard players.

Well, Jagex has made millions off RS so they'll try to keep it alive. If it does die. I'll be one of them diehard ppl that will get everything!!

Why do you people continue with these dammed prophecies of doom? Remember the story of Rome, how the "crazies" ran through the streets, screaming that the Roman Empire was to fall. And did it? Yep. If you'd get off your high horses, stop pretending to know the future, and played the game instead of guessing when it would be gone, you'd be much better off.

Runescape Classic was a hell of a lot better than RS2.

 

 

 

I think withing the next 5 years it'll wind down.

Min- 5 Years

 

Max- 10 Years.

Honestly, I think that it will die when Jagex closes the site.

 

 

 

There are still new people finding the game. There are still those who play because they either can't afford games such as WoW or parents refuse to buy it. As long as it is still available for f2p (even in it's small portion it has now), then it could go on for as long as the internet lives. This game is one of the few that some kids can get onto at libraries that have web access, can still be run on older OS's, and DOESN'T NEED A DOWNLOAD OR DISC. So, unti Jagex itself runs down or closes forever, it'll still be around.

No use randomly stating a year. That's just pulling a number out of a hat.

 

 

 

I think it will only dissapear if a our society changes so that another MMORPG comes along with a very minimal cost with skills, etc and can somehow offer everything that runescape has created. I can't even picture something like that happening so all I can say is, not soon. (except if techology evolves extremely fast so that the internet becomes out of date which just isn't going to happen)

 

 

 

Also don't forget video games as a whole have only been around 25 or so years. There's no saying what might happen.
