October 9, 200718 yr "Back to my Roots" quest guide Use your Slayer skills to battle out of control vegetation with an attitude, cultivate your wits and stretch your Agility to solve a cunning maze - all to make a gardener's day. Do you have what it takes to cut this quest down to size? Stats/quests needed: Fairy Tale part 1 Hand in the Sand One Small Favour Tribal Totem Level 55 Agility Level 53 Farming Level 59 Slayer Level 72 Woodcutting Must be able to defeat a level 167 foe Supplies: Pot lid, Secaturs, Spade, Armor, Food, Prayer pots/super restores, Machete, Pot, Plant Pot with compost in it, Trowel, DO NOT BRING A STRONG WEAPON, IT WILL NOT HELP AGAINST THE BOSS IN THIS QUEST. Optional: Super Set, Antipoison strongly recommended, because most enemies poison in this quest. Enemies: Various, from lv 60 ants to lv 88 wasps, lv 167 Wild Jade Vine Notes: Handelmort Mansion is north of Ardoughne Castle, where you stole from in the "Tribal Totem" Quest. 1. Talk to Horacio. He will say that he is having a problem growing a vine, and needs your help, by talking to Wizard Cromperty about a device that will help with preserving the root's life. 2. Talk to Wizard Cromperty in the northeast corner of Ardoughne. He needs some help with the R.P.D.T at the Ardoughne Docks. They will say a package cannot be delivered because the label is ruined and they cannot read it. You'll be allowed to open the package, so open it to find a wizard's sliced hand! Report to Cromperty immediately. 3. Upon returning to him, he will say that his specialist equipment you'll need is broken by the R.P.D.T, again and he needs a pot lid. Go make him one, then report back to him.NOTE: You cannot make the pot lid beforehand, you must make it after he instructs you to. 4.Cromperty says you'll need to see Garth in Karamja for supplies. Garth is at the Fruit tree patch, near the boat to Ardoughne. 5. Garth says you can cut the sapling, but you need the appropiate gear. Get your combat gear, spade, secaturs, supercompost, and machete, and head out of Shilo and head toward the nature altar, then go southeast of there, along the north wall, until you see a vine you can climb. 6. Complete the maze until you find a spot where you can dig near the roots. Dig and try to set it successfully. When you succeed, use the pot with the lid on the plant and you will seal it. Teleport out and return to Horacio. MAZE SOLUTION HERE, BY ME. She is tough, but not hard, and you must use a woodcutting axe to kill it. It poisons also, so be ready to eat or pray. 9. After defeating the plant, talk to Horacio about a reward. [hide=DO NOT LOOK UNLESS YOU WANT THE REWARD SPOILED][/hide] Any questions/comments? User Input Info Pretty good guide, covered all the major points to the quest. Although maybe you could do a step by step walkthrough the maze? That would help a load of people cause that maze can be confusing. And I recommend bringing an anti or 2 when you go there cause its pretty easy to get poisoned. For the fight melee defence I'd recommend melee defence and some monks. Oh and if you bring the sliced hand to Zaristic Revere (guy who comes when you ring the Mage Guild bell - don't remember his name all that well) you get some dialogue about interring wizards, a lot of corny hand jokes but no reward. reward for body parts:10k mage exp (ye... i needed that...) 100 laws and 200 bloods. One remark: I heard from a friend about the pot lid, but it doesn't work: you need to make it AFTER you talked with the wizard about it. (he says something about it getting smaller over time) That eagle on the upper level of the vine maze looked very familiar to me and indeed I discovered it is part of the transportation system from Eagles Peak. I went straight to the Eagles Peak quest end and found the Karamja Eagle there, used a rope on it and was flown to the vine maze. Not sure if you can go both directions yet or if you have to go to Eagles Peak first for the initial flight. here is the body parts you need to collect: Torso, Right & Left arm, Right & Left leg and foot. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.

October 9, 200718 yr I know, but the monsters in the maze drop the other body pieces so you can return them all for a reward, i'm wondering if its worth my time and effort to collect all the pieces. ~the plumber of pain~~currently - training range (when i'm online)~[heres my 99 mage vid! summoning charm guide: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=5641302#5641302

October 9, 200718 yr Nice guide but the vine plant wasnt hard. Didnt eat once, used chivalvy and dragon axe and it was like 15 hits and she was dead. Click for my blog
October 9, 200718 yr Excellent, but how do you find the proper spot in the maze? I spent hours there going in circles. Anyone have a hint on this part? Thanks!
October 9, 200718 yr 2nd hand knowledge: The hand uncovered from the parcel and the body parts recovered from the ants in the maze can be exchanged for xp (cant remember which) when handed over to the wizzard (forgot his name, starts with a Z) in the mage tower in Yanille Semper in excremento, sole profundum qui variat.
October 9, 200718 yr Author I thank you all for the info. I have added a section: "User Added Info" for your input. The youtube video is almost uploaded BTW. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.

October 9, 200718 yr Is it possible to boost up to 72 woodcutting? Or do I have to get that last level =/? In Soviet Russia, glass eats OTers. Alansson Alansson, woo woo woo! Pink owns yes, just like you!GOOOOOOOOOO ALAN! WOO!

October 9, 200718 yr I posted this in the update thread but thought you might want it for your guide. That eagle on the upper level of the vine maze looked very familiar to me and indeed I discovered it is part of the transportation system from Eagles Peak. I went straight to the Eagles Peak quest end and found the Karamja Eagle there, used a rope on it and was flown to the vine maze. October 10, 200718 yr Does anyone know the amount of time required for the jade vine to grow (after the quest)? I've killed over 20,000 dust devils while training to 99 attack and have still not gotten a dragon chain.
October 10, 200718 yr In step 5 you tell us to go east out of Shilo, but then in step 6 you were adamant about us NOT going east out of Shilo, and instead going north...? Wouldn't it be simpler to just say it's southeast of the Nature Altar?
October 10, 200718 yr Is it possible to boost up to 72 woodcutting? Or do I have to get that last level =/? while you cant pot up 1 lvl there is a way to gain up to a 6 lvl boost i believe evil daves stew from rfd can possibly give you + 6 wc lvls but you need to search around in the rs kb for which spice you need and that could take forever

October 10, 200718 yr You can up your wc by 1 with axeman's folly brew. If you drink an Axeman's folly (m) you will get 2 wc lvls. Either of these lasts for a short time. Thanks for the maze vid, made my life a whole lot easier :) Please forgive any spelling or grammar mistakes, and I will forgive yours :)
