911

Once I was sitting at my computer, when I suddenly realised that my phone was talking from inside my pocket. I yanked it out, shoved to my ear and apoligised for ignoring someone who I assumed would be a friend. The lady at the other end said: "That's all right sir, but you've actually dialed through to the emergency services." Dang.

Dude, you just cheered me up, had an aweful day today. Thanks. :)

What is it lately with all these multi-year bumps in OT? Seriously?

Je ne sais quoi. I don't know.

I've never had to call 999, but I have been in a situation where about 20 teenagers attacked a caravan I and a few others were staying in, but the oldest person called the number.

I've never had to call 911 before. My mom had to though when I was a baby. I was in my car seat, and I was put at the top of the cab temporarily so that the seat could be set up. Then, the cab started to move and I fell off and my head was bleeding a little bit apparently.

Several times, at home and once at the uni. Can't give the details for the uni one. :P

The ones at home were mainly noise complaints (trance party across the street at 1AM is bad, especially when the whole street can hear it coming from one house) and disturbing the peace (two people screaming and fighting outside on the street). :-#

(Yea I know three year old topic, but since people posted semi-decent replies that are on topic, meh gonna let it live for now... :P)

Because before i hung up my friend yelled fire into the phone....

My mom was reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally happy bout that...

I think there was a point in every child's life where they felt the need to call 911 just out of curiosity. 8-)

It's the same with the fire alarm at school :-w

Who is bumping all these old threads and why do I never notice and end up contributing anyway?!?!?!

Might as well contribute while I'm sitting here. Once at the mall an old man was lying on the ground. People thought he passed out or died and called the police. Loads of ambulances came and stuff. Turns out the guy was a hobo sleeping. Musta been a rude awakening  They took him in a stretcher anyway to see if he was okay (hey, they brought the ambulances here, might as well do something with them!)

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

I consider 911 to be serious, but pulling the fire alarm is just pure fun =P

A fun thing for school fire alarms: if you know some time when it'll ring, ring it about 1 minute beforehand, because someone has to call teh FD to say it's jsut a fire drill. It scares the hell outta the person who's supossed to pull it!

Death should not be taken as 'the end,' but a very effective way to cut down taxes.

To those talking about bumping a few year old threads, I say if the threads are interesting, why not contribute to them and let them being bumped?

Also, I have never called 911. I went close to call them when I had my car accident though. I figured it'd cost less to not put the repairs on insurance.

You go to jail if you pull the fire alarm in my school and they catch you. No joke. They consider it a felony. :|

I don't think my school even had fire alarm's, at least not one's that could be activated by anyone but staff.

Last year, we got our first pulled fire alarm in a long while. Of course, at my new school, fire alarms happen weekly...

Anyway, what happened was that my science teacher was predicting the fire drill. There were a few days left in May, and we hadn't had our monthly fire drill yet, so my teacher said it was going to be either Thursday or Friday. Thursday goes by...No fire drill. Everyone in my class now knows it's going to be on Friday, if there is one at all. So some kid decides to pull the alarm on Friday, seeing as how it could pass as a fire drill. His flaw? He pulled it during lunch. There's never a fire drill during lunch, fact. I don't know if he was ever caught, I have no idea who it was.

Anyway, I've actually never called 911, at least I don't think so. In Taiwan, I think it's 119, never called that either...My parents kept the phone out of reach, I'm pretty sure. And I live in a really safe city, and never seen something that required immediate medical attention. And no fires.
