Beating Runescape?

Recommended Posts

I was just looking at the highscores and realized that exp. max's out a 200,000,000.

So I guess a person could only get 4,600,000,000 exp.

So I guess I am asking 2 things:

1) Would Runescape be considered beaten by a person if they had done all quests and got 200,000,000 exp. in every category?

2) Do you think it will ever happen? Zezima maybe?

Eventualy if one keeps playing it can happen. All these mmorpg games can not be "beaten". What you can however consider beating the game is setting a goal for yourself and then achieving it.

Here is a few examples:

getting 99 in a certain skill, or in all of them

getting a party hat set

winning 1000 stakes?

killing 1000 people in wilderness?

Getting 1 billion gp?

Whatever your goal may be that can be a personal achievement, but getting 200 mil in everyone skill isnt really beating the game, unless that was your goal.

Game Name: Ego Scorpion

Party Hat Sets: 4

Right, I think to truly "beat" the game you would have to max out on every mini-game as well -- earn all possible rewards. Become a white knight "Master." Earn the ultimate chompy hat. So on, and so forth. At the rate Jagex adds content, I doubt anyone will ever do that.

I dont ever see zezima or anyone for tht matter getting 200mill xp in every skill, 200 mill slayer xp will take like what...forever and a bag of chips. Runescape cant be beaten, the only way you can beat runescape is if you set a goal and compleat it...IMO

I know you used inverted commas, but the word 'beat' is basically undefinable in the context of an MMORPG. Heck, without a definition, the word doesn't exist. You can complete everything in the game, but beating the game involves doing absolutely everything, including future updates, and succeeding in a social aspect as well...

The phrase 'beat Runescape' is, in a sense, impossible.

The closest you can get to it is perhaps 'be successful in Runescape'?

There are ither ways to 'complete Runescape' as you called it. Champion scrolls for instance, you could have 4.6 billion overall xp and have no champions defeated, or 4k chompy kills. The life of a Runescaper is never complete...

Good point, but no.

You can complete runescape, but you can only do it in 1-2 week increments, as updates come out every week or so with new content.

If you:

Maxed out on exp

Maxed out on "permanent upgrades" like quests, chompy and black knight kills, champion scrolls, music, ect.

Achieved the maximum amount of all "useful items" Which is somewhere about 2.1trill, the max variable for java, and bought every existing rare

Was knowledgeable of every aspect of the game and had experienced all of it in some way, along with that would mean you have all existing holiday event items and have unlocked every emote.

And finally: Understand the game and all aspects of its code better than its creators.

Now I would consider you having "beaten" (become better than) the game.

P.S. Once achieved you gotta finish it again next week =p

I was just looking at the highscores and realized that exp. max's out a 200,000,000.

AFAIK, the max is actually 214,748,364.7

(that's (2^31-1)/10 )

but Jagex caps the displayed value at 200M

So I guess a person could only get 4,600,000,000 exp.

Well, here things get a little bit more interesting.

If Jagex used an unsigned 32 bit integer for total exp then the true max would be 4,294,967,295

So, a player with an average exp of about 186.7M in 23 skills would max out total exp.

1) Would Runescape be considered beaten by a person if they had done all quests and got 200,000,000 exp. in every category?

What about completing quests, PKing, getting full chompy kills, defeating all

champions, merchanting, getting all old holiday items, etc.

In other words, there are plenty of non-skill-exp related things to do.

2) Do you think it will ever happen?

No, RS is not a static unchanging game. (well, except for classic RS)

Jagex is always releasing new quests, gear, and skills.

So, as long as Jagex updates the game, there will always be things to do.

Zezima maybe?

IMHO, I think that we should leave the guy alone and let him play in peace...

It can happen, but won't. Zezima is playing ever so little(and by that I mean ALL of his players that help him)The Oldknight wouldn't do it. No you can't beat runescape, but you can brag the hell out of it ;)

There's always new content being added. You can never really "beat" runescape.

With the ever expanding game it's not going to happen.

There's always new content being added. You can never really "beat" runescape.

This also applies to nearly every MMORPG out there: There isn't really an 'objective' to finish, even if you capped out the XP on all skills, finished all quests and got all the best equipment... They will add more shortly, as long as the Jagex corporation exists you really can't "finish" runescape.
