I normally always turn gloves off as I cannot get barrows anyway. I didn't make bils from armour on staking without knowing how to do armour on stakes.I underestimated the accuracy and strength bonuses the gloves special effects provided, a rapier generally would hit less than those gloves did, and really did not expect that. Defence bonuses are extremely important, using crush on vestas or slash on torva/statius will make you lose almost for sure.
