Guest
Concerning noobs a nooby tale by mauranius -------------------------------------------------------------------- I think the phrase "noob" is frequently used in context where it shouldn't. perhaps it's better to create a dictionary: noob - a player that does actions which makes you feel he hasn't been around in the game longer than you or many other players stupid noob - a person that makes himself ridiculous by asking meaningless questions omg! noob! - a remark to state someone that they behave as if they where new to the game Van - Very annoying noob (might be pronounced as: fan ;) ) this is a list of noob actions, by all means if you feel like it you can say noob to the person in question if they say or do this: 1. asking for money or items 2. asking for somebody's level in some skill 3. asking for max hits 4. asking to do a skill cape emote repeatedly 5. trading you unnecessarily and showing stuff you don't even want to be found dead with 6. can i be your friend? 7. Everyone!!! join my clanchat!!! it's sooo cool 8. While firemaking creating a fire directly in front of another player 9. asking ridiculous prices for certain items 10. Hey everyone i am dancing for money! 11. Spamming at the GE that you have items for sale on the GE >.< the reason's why this is described as a noob action: 1. no one will give money or items toy ou, especially high levels. most people think it's rude and annoying - DON'T DO IT PLEASE!!!! 2. this can be seen in the highscores, i don't feel like telling it all the time, especially when it's asked every 5-10 minutes 3. it's just a stupid question, some people don't care about how hard they hit, they just try to train 4. this is a question that irritates many member players, if they want to do it, they do it, if they don't then don't bug them for it 5. super annoying 6. no you can't.... you cannot ask someone to be your friend, friendships just happen and you only ask this in the hope you get some freaking money from me 7. z0mg this must be the noobiest question i ever heard.... If everyone just talks in public that could be nice, but rendering every single player in draynor in the same world is just plain NOOB 8. ok i admit 1 or 2 times this can be funny, but if you do it every time it's just... noob! 9. There are standard prices, if you try to sell for more, you won't sell. 10. that is just ridicilous. everyone can use "dance" emotes and no one will pay you for acting stupid 11. Total naabness, if anyone like to buy these items they will see them eventually, no need to go spamming around you have items for sale on the GE!!! Plus it creates lag for the regular players, plus they sometimes won't be able to see if they got randoms yes or no... ---------------------------------------------------- What to do when yo encounter a "noob" i really wanted to try typing a part for this new section of my guide, because some people don't know the best ways to react to a noob. Whichever the noob may say, try not offending any rules. The noob probably knows how the report button works, and he is not afraid to use it if he must. If a noob in question keeps bugging you about these things the best to do is to put him on your ignore list, or put private, public, assist, trade to friends, this will also work. You can always try to make sure the noob will know he is not acting appropriate by making fun of him, a good way to do this is to ask the same questions back at him, just return the ball. NOTE: you need a lot of patience for this, not everyone will be able to do this Still the best thing to call around is "noob" but watch out you that you will not use it inappropriate :) ---------------------------------------------------- ok this is where i end, perhaps i need to start a new topic on this. Remember that noob is not a lvl, it is a behavior -mauranius- --------------------------------------------------------- please help my by improving this guide by adding words to the dictionary, or phrases that are in fact useful in proper use of the 'n' word!!!! Wachtwoord
3 is totally wrong. Nobody is just doing their cape emote as random. Nor is it stupid to finally wait to see someone doing the rare emotes (herblore, farming, con, etc.). So when the first few times I saw those, I usually them to do their emote, and most of them just did it for 3 secs, I said "thanks" and we both moved on. It's part of the showw off of the cape itself. If you don't want to people to ask you to do the emote, don't wear your cape. When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+
Theoknight2
you put things up there that shouldn't asking for stats? who cares? it only take a click and 2 numbers to tell them. asking for emote?^^^^ exactly what he said. Most of the other stuff? they don't know any better. don't tell me you never did it and were a complete master of the game when you first saw it. So, in your own terms, OMG!NOOB! Rahila
TBH your a disgrace to high level members. I personally have a hunter cape and i dont think all people that ask me to do a simple emote are noobs, they just want to see what it looks like. Is it honestly that hard to tell someone what ur stats are or what your max hit is???! I mean come on, its alot harder to get on the highscores and type in their name and all... You need to learn to think about these things before you post something like this. Anyways this guide gets a 0/10 in my books http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/
12markkram34
0/10. 1 and 5 are the only REAL noob actions. If you don't like people asking for stat lvls, max hits, skillcape emotes, or friends, keep your public and private chat to "friends" or "off." Guest
Sorry to say but this guide "phail 0/10". explain please haha very originaly and funy guide ty  3 is totally wrong. It's part of the showw off of the cape itself. If you don't want to people to ask you to do the emote, don't wear your cape. not true, some people weir their skill cape just for the looks of it, and i heard of almost all members i know it's very irritating that the moment you log in with a skill cape people begin "begging" to do the emote. If these people want to do the skill cape emote they will do it by themselves eventually. you put things up there that shouldn't asking for stats? who cares? it only take a click and 2 numbers to tell them. asking for emote?^^^^ exactly what he said. Most of the other stuff? they don't know any better. don't tell me you never did it and were a complete master of the game when you first saw it. So, in your own terms, OMG!NOOB! sir i never asked for money, items or anything. I just listened to what other players had to say, and in this way gained me some friends. I can't denie that i am eager to see the skill cape emotes, but i won;t ask for it, because i know some people encounter this as very annoying. Think before you write! (omg copycatting M N H clever again :XD: ) Not even funny at all. Noob.. TBH your a disgrace to high level members. If you don't like people asking for stat lvls, max hits, skillcape emotes, or friends, keep your public and private chat to "friends" or "off." I don;t know if you regular talk to people that walk about, but i am trying to find a few people that are the -older- ones in runescape. If that means i sometimes have to keep public on ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- anyways i made some adjustments, perhaps now my meanings are clear :
reaper88888
I lol'd. Using the word noob is meaningless; it has no true meaning, it just makes you look like an immature idiot who can't think of a good insult/has low self-esteem. There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.

Imcleith
I was excited, though this one could be an smart guide i could've read while firemaking to make time go faster, instead i'll waste some time, oh well, anyway it was break time. I think the phrase "noob" is frequently used in context where it shouldn't. perhaps it's better to create a dictionary: noob - a player that does actions which makes you feel he hasn't been around in the game longer than you or many other players stupid noob - a person that makes himself ridiculous by asking meaningless questions omg! noob! - a remark to state someone that they behave as if they where new to the game this is a list of noob actions, by all means if you feel like it you can say noob to the person in question if they say or do this: 1. asking for money or items 2. asking for somebody's level in some skill 3. asking for max hits 4. asking to do a skill cape emote 5. trading you unnecessarily and showing stuff you don't even want to be found dead with 6. can i be your friend? 7. While firemaking creating a fire directly in front of another player the reason's why this is described as a noob action: 1. no one will give money or items toy ou, especially high levels. most people think it's rude and annoying - DON'T DO IT PLEASE!!!! 2. this can be seen in the highscores, i don't feel like telling it all the time, especially when it's asked every 5-10 minutes 3. it's just a stupid question, some people don't care about how hard they hit, they just try to train 4. this is a question that irritates many member players, if they want to do it, they do it, if they don't then don't bug them for it 5. super annoying 6. no you can't.... you cannot ask someone to be your friend, friendships just happen and you only ask this in the hope you get some freaking money from me 7. z0mg this must be the noobiest question i ever heard.... If everyone just talks in public that could be nice, but rendering every single player in draynor in the same world is just plain NOOB 8. ok i admit 1 or 2 times this can be funny, but if you do it every time it's just... noob! ---------------------------------------------------- ok this is where i end, perhaps i need to start a new topic on this. Remember that noob is not a lvl, it is a behavior -mauranius- --------------------------------------------------------- please help my by improving this guide by adding words to the dictionary, or phrases that are in fact useful in proper use of the 'n' word!!!! The word noob comes from an online game ages ago, people used the term "New bee" to call the people who was new to the game. But people found it as a long word, so it evolved to newbie, followed by newb, then nub and the one used these days: Noob. The correct meaning for Noob these days would be someone who's not a newbie yet acts like one. Now lets see your "noob actions" 1. Do you really have to use the term noob in this case? You could simply tell him "Sorry, but in this game begging won't get you to nothing, i suggest training a skill like woodcutting for money". 2. Not every single newb knows the about the highscores, there's many people who has came from miniclip and as far as i know there are no runescape highscores there. Plus, you only need to say 2 numbers, they would have to open a new browser, go to runescape homepage, then to highscores, then hope you're still there so they can check your name. Also the level asking is not as common as you say, i've been doing some cooking these last 3 days in f2p and only 6 people asked for my level. 3. Same as number 2, but worst, even if they knew about highscores there are no max hit highscores. 4. I just wasted 3 seconds of my life soing a sexy emote, oh my god. Really, you don't lose anything showing it, and if you don't like simply don't wear it. If you're busy and don't have time to show the emote just tell him that. 5. Ok, this one is really annoying, and has actually happened many times in my last days. Simply tell them that you don't need anything atm or lie saying you have no money ( :P ). If they insist just turn your trade to friends. 6. Annoying too, tell them what you told us "You cannot ask someone to be your friend, friendships just happen" 7. These are actually kind of fun sometimes, and if you don't like it simply don't go to his clan chat, he's not asking specifically (don't know if this is the right term, i just used the auto dictionary) you. 8. Only one i support, maybe he didn't know you where there, in that case just tell him to go find another firemaking spot sinse you're allredy using that one. Always try to be polite, ever wondered where the noobs (yeah, the noobs, not the newbs) came from? They become noobs because back when they where lvl 3 newbs some lvl 60 was not polite to them, and now that they're lvl 60 they think they're the kings of the world, that's where the noobs came from. I knew a newb a year ago and we had a nice chat, i taught him about runescape rules, ways to get money, etc and mainly, we had a good time. These days he's a pmod and still a friend of mine. ~Merry

Guest
at first i tried to write an actual guide on it, but since so many people have different thoughts about it, and no one is actually giving additions to the noob dictionary, yeh then this might have been become spam. It was supposed to be a guide with some humor inside it So give advise on what should be added, perhaps changed Still opinions differ between people, so if someone say it is not appropriate to call someone noob at certain times it's what they think. I just tried fixing some guidelines so that the tip.it people that mostly have an higher IQ than other people will not be using the word noob in inappropriate times. MrBowser
Noob is an insult, yet, one that will never hurt me. I laugh when people call me a noob; it's funny. I call people noobs; If their price is ridiculously high, or anything like that. It has lost all meaning to me; just like so many other insults. This is not really a guide, and I would ask you not to make another guide like this; you're spamming our forum with posts that are pointless, and have never heard of the word "grammar". Frankly, I'm doubting you really understand what it means. 2.5/10, for the effort of typing the guide, no points for content. That's what it takes to be a hero, a little gemof innocence inside of you that makes you wantto believe that there still exists a right and wrong, that decency will somehow triumph in the end.--Lise Hand
