I've revised my guide to reflect new information. Unfortunately, most of what I've learned over the last two days has to do with exploits and abuses of this system because Jagex yet again, won't implement a beta program or test thoroughly enough.

 

 

 

Here are the main abuse issues:

 

[*] Low-Levels Getting XP at High-Level Speeds: If a low-level player asks for assistance from a high-level but then does something he already could do, then the low-level gets the XP, but operates at the speed corresponding to the more experienced playerÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s level. The high-level doesnÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t get XP so there is no limit on how long this can be done, allowing low-level players to gain XP much faster than they should. This seems to work for Cooking, Fishing, Mining, Woodcutting and most other skills.

 

 

 

For example, suppose I am level 41 Fishing. I ask for ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅassistanceÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

No, most of them were (and still are) wrong, because they were (are) ranting about things that aren't true.

 

 

 

These are mostly things that Jagex didn't anticipate, not uses they wanted the system to have. I am sure they'll get cleaned up soon.

Here's My problem: I don't use the assist system, but The problem I see is, can the assisted end the assistance? I think they should get that ability, as well as the assister, if that's not already in place. Then when they are done, they can just cancel it, instead of saying they are done.

I have a question about 1-6. Are you sure you can not plant gout tubers? Because gout weed is nontradeable. Also, birds nests are nontradeable and you can receive them while being assisted for woodcutting. I realize any person can get them on their own anyways, but you CAN obtain untradeables while being assisted...

 

 

 

Oh, and does anyone know about big sharks / swordfish / bass?

Haven't gotten any sort of good answers on gout tubers or the big fish.

 

 

 

As for the birds' nests, since you can get them from any trees -- and in fact you get them more often chopping lower level ones -- I don't see that as a real issue.

I am totally in favor of removing assist on the basic resources. Fishing in Catherby is getting close to unbearable with all the assist begging going on. And the best with fishing is all the people that get an assist to catch shark then have to beg for a cooking assist to cook it , I am hoping once the novelty wears off people will just start refusing to assist these basic skills.

Actually, the update was based mainly on feedback from a couple of people I know who have already been hammering the J Mods in the sticky on the RSOF.. they appear to be listening and said they will try to do something. We'll see.

There's something about this that I have been wondering about, but haven't tried yet. Can Assist be used to make items that contain untradable raw materials? For example, can someone with low herblore use an 82+ Herblorist to make Super Weapon Poison even though it requires the untradable Nightshade?

Okay, so they did the obvious thing and removed the gathering skills that never should have been there at all.
