Bump.

And I guess the stupid people nowadays will just have to be intelliablely stupid. If possible.

Sounds great, but of course Jagex will have to fix it to allow RS slang - no censoring LOLs like it said, or OMG, or PEE-HAT and such. Especially Barrows... Buy *****s 3.2m ::'

All in all, I'd say it would be feasible, but will require a big makeover to allow for RS gameplay, if it would go in the game. Even if not, would still need to be fixed for the forums. Oh, one more thing - what about gibberish names? *follow *********" :o

Follow Zezima

Follow ****** :o

****** quits. :P

I would love a system like this... It wouldn't remove stupid people, but at least I would be able to read what people want to say instead of having to decypher it.

Just as a side note, you should refrain yourself from bumping your topic unless it has dropped to the second page or lower.

Doomy edit: I like sheep

wow gf elitism

so there's this thread in p2p general called "the most annoying things ppl do on runescape" i am tempted to post "ya wen im cybering with a girl and they log off for no reason"

Before stupid filter: ima pker u noob u no i pwn u in w1ld cuz pur3z ownij

After stupid filter: I have no life to speak of. Please excuse me for four hours while I recapitulate the technique of standing up.

This isn't going to happen. <.<

Don't follow me. You might not make it.

If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator
While I don't use the leet speak frowned upon and the random jibberjabber spam everyone hates, I can see this filter as being rather oppresive.

I agree. Where does the filter draw its lines on what is shorthand/jargon and what is actual gibberish/idiocy? Would stuff like "buy dfs" or "selling full guth" get censored?

And I agree that if Jagex put a censor like this in, probably 90% of the customers would quit. I mean, just look... More people would report someone who's spamming for BUG ABUSE than Offensive Language.... That just goes to show how ineffably stupid they are. The rs forums also show how badly this would affect the game. One in five people make threads with absent grammar and horrible spelling...

I thought that abbervations would be a problem.

Of course, I do not expect this filter to be perfect, nor do I expect there to be no noobs. There are always some. I don't know if I stated this or not, but I do not expect this to go into the game. But I think it's still a nice addition to forums.

Just my view though. Thanks for all the comments.

This is a genius idea... now if only we could get Jagex to implement it ingame.

The only problem is we would have to spell out our words instead of abbreviating them, like when buying/selling stuff. Unless Jagex can change the filter so it doesnt block common abbreviations for ingame items, like scimmys, etc.

laugh out loud

wow that would get annoying

The website says the software's open source, so Jagex can change the filter so it doesn't block the normal RuneScape shorthand. (such as 2h and scimmy) It doesn't block things like "lol," just excessive use. I recommend checking out the website, it's very interesting.

It's dolomite, baby!

Dark matter - Each pound of which weighs over ten thousand pounds.

this would truely revolutionize online chat and I am glad to see that sarcasm and irony shouldent be filtered out.
