Well...lets see...you have ice fiends, fire fiends, vampires, goraks, bloodvelds, spiritual creatures.

I think the best to heal off of would be the fire fiends or vampires, the others would hit too hard.

It's very much so possible, and it is very effective. Many people will tell you that it isn't that great, or the prayer method is so much better. After experimenting with both methods I can tell you that most that say that are likely to have only tried their own way, and are getting a little proud and protective when people claim to have found a method equally or better effective then theirs, not aimed at anyone specific.

I've made alot of money using the guthaning method. Try this: bring the typical setup but isntead of a black d'hide body, bring guthan body. To compensate for the range bonus loss it's smart to bring a MSB instead.

Also, I recommend bringing the following: Armydyl pendant, a Saradomin cape and Zammorak bracer, and if you can afford it, Bandos boots.

When you get down and need to guthan you should heal on either the goblins and hobgoblins (watch out for the lvl 107 orcs) or on vampires and werewolves that are already attacking something else, that way they don't even attack you back :P

I'll try get a picture of my setup when I'm done killing dusties  .

I've been healing there with bones to peaches. You do really need high def for it to work well though, ideally you want to be hit 8 or less by each aviansie as this is what their bones will heal you. I can do this with no probs at 99 def just killing aviansie but theres no reason you shouldn't be able to.. just kill bloodvelds/hobgoblins etc if you need a few extra bones. Also a tip if you use this method.. bring a few nats, waters and a lava staff. the staff replaces fire for high alchs and earths for B2P.. you'll easily get enough nature and water rune drops to let you stay there forever.

not sure if the thread is still alive, but if it is, go to jordanwebbs aviansie guide. it is awesome. guthans was experimented there and turned out to be profitable, but he also explains a different technique that might be appealing to you.

There are two different guides to aviansies on Tip.it:

Jordanweb's: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=708158

Mine: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=714860

I've killed thousands of these things and tried every method imagineable, including Guthans. IMO, it is far from ideal for several reasons that can be summed up simply: time is money. Switching armor and healing with Guthans is slow. In the time you are doing all that, you are losing out on XP and drops. Too many people only look at the cost side of the equation and not the opportunity cost (same reason people use junky bone bolts because they are "cheap" ;) )

Remember that if you have the Trollheim Teleport spell, it's only 90 seconds from any bank to the aviansies. You do not need to spend 8 hours down there... and if you try, you're going to waste a lot of valuable drops.

Well, the author has probably long had his answer, but I'll reply for the sake of debating :P

One could also argue that the whole reason people go there is because of the money. If I really wanted range exp, I'd buy myself some red chins and go down to ape toll dungeon, or buy a cannon and power train with with bone bolts at caged ogres.

Simply put, Aviansies are far from optimal range exp nowadays. If these came out maybe a year ago (I forget release dates of pc and such) these would all be amazing methods because you could have near max possible exp/hour while making a huge income. However, that's not the scenario we're in, it is easily possible to double the range exp you find down there if you use the correct methods.

Back to my original point, if you ask anyone down there what their main reasoning for being down there is, your probably over 95% likely to get the answer "money". That said, no one is yet to calculate how much GP an hour is made with each method when used correctly, as the prayer pots do knock down your method, as guthan does mine.

As for Guthans healing slowly down there, you must be using the wrong methods or have a low defence level. If you attack orcs, bloodvelds, pyrefiends you will take very long to heal up, if at all. However if you play it smart and attack mosnters that are already in combat, or hobgoblins and such, you should be healed extremely fast, I've never had a problem with quickly healing down there, not including when I was experimenting with Guthans of course.
