Invisible Tax with Grand Exchange!! <<Read My Theory Inside!

Featured Replies

Okay, take this hypothetical situation.

~There is only one seller selling 10k logs for 50 gp each.

~There is only one buyer buying 10k logs for 55 gp each.

What happens? I have come up with two answers

1. If the transaction goes through, where does the extra 50k go? Does it go 'into' the grand exchange as a form of an invisible tax? I doubt either the seller or buyer get back extra gold...

2. If the transaction doesn't go through, then the Grand Exchange is just a massive market where you have to manage to guess the sellers/buyers desired price. This is impractical and more or less impossible.

Consider the first case being true: taxation leads to deflation as there becomes less and less gold in our economy per person, meaning prices of items will go down as the value of gold rises (relativley). This will lead to a rares crash as there will be no point in investing in discontinued items if they will just lose value.

Consider the second case being true: the grand exchange is like a car with no wheels; wont get you anywhere.

EDIT: Good news, I have heard that the buyer gets the money he overpaid back to him. I guess we'll all sleep well tonight ;)

The buyer gets the difference, this is in the knowledge base, why doesn't anybody ever read that?

In this case, the buyer only pays 50 each. Jagex has said that the buyer might not have to pay as much as (s)he offers. :)

I put in a buying offer for a rune c'bow for the max price it would let me. I ended up buying one that was at the average price and I got to keep my extra ~2k.

If your offer is higher than the seller's price, you only pay the seller's price and keep your extra cash.

Wow you just made so many erronous assumptions it's not even funny
