Staking: Yet another concept that played out well once (still does on rsc) with a stable economy, yet doesn't do so well with a runaway economy (derailed by halfway literate twelve year olds and their "staker accounts")

Yeah it was a good reason that they made that update but a lot of people were mad/effected by it. People who stake for fun is the first and second people who own rares :x . After that update all rares dropped at least 5m in 3 days. Now instead of cash people stake rares so the update did not really change much.

Pehaps you should give credit to the person who wrote it, and the site he uses *cough*

I guess you didn't get my play on words. What I meant (and thought I clarified at the bottom) was that people are just willing to listen to whatever someone else's opinion is and believe that to be the true reasoning behind what Jagex did.

I think what he said is right. Earning 500M in one day off of some lucky hits because your attack level is higher, or you alched for days straight just isnt right. It eliminates skills, and wrecks the encomoy. They should increase the cap to 1-5M per hour, so you cant win that much.

There is SO many things they can do.

 

 

 

 

 

All they had to do with staking was make it to where you couldn't stake anything like say... 3 lvls higher or lower.

show me one case where an American court has upheld a lawsuit on a video game for emotional distress and I will believe you that every online game is under threat.

Well i say its well written, but it is very hard to know how many people actually took part in these "casino type RS playings" and i doubt more than 10% of all stakers (and i might be over exaggerating this) ever did anything like that.

the only person "buying back in" would be the day that R2pleasant thought he knew how to stake and tried using his "merchanted" gold to stake with and lost a lot.

 

 

 

they don't buy back in...i was a staker...i get cleaned one day, i make 100M the next.

 

 

 

i ended up with 1.5B when the arena was killed...woulda been there more had i known they'd do what they did.

Just looked at the updates again today - havnt played past few months. All i can do is :shock: :shock: :shock: wtf have they done to staking? Staking on runescape is the best part about it. Training for hours and finally being able to kill everyone is a great feeling + the 100m's that you can get off it is a great...Much better than spending my friday nights running natrue runes :P Why would they remove this? i understand some people buy cash when they get cleaned or some people sell cash when they win big but thats no where near the majority of high stakers. I'd say that maybe 10% of 20m+ stakers are selling/buying runescape gold but the other 90% dont. Why ruin it for the rest of us when you can 'easily trace gold' and ban the accounts abuseing the rules.

 

 

 

I understand the element of gambing may come into it but for us older players that doesnt really matter. I used to stake big, it was a huge thrill but when i got cleaned i accepted it and just thanked it wasnt real cash. pfft [bleep] it i'm just gona leave runescape again, forever

Unfortunately, many stakers became very, very, VERY rich. Opulence to the point of conspicuous consumption, and, ultimately, profit. These same stakers who could bring in several hundred million GP per day could turn that over in exchange for several hundred US dollars per day.

 

 

 

Haahaa, we just learned what conspicuous consumption means in History class :)

 

 

 

There are probably more hidden reasons as to why Jagex capped staking. They might not be obvious now, but they'll eventually make their entrance into RS society.

But it's true. A lot of 'pro-stakers' buy their way back into the industry you could call it. Although I know people who actually get cleaned and work their way back in by RuneCrafting or Merchanting. Let's see, Cursed You. First to 99 construction, ended up selling all his rares becauase of the profits, over 140k NZ$. Bogdan222222, nobody really remembers him much...He bought a phat, staked, got cleaned, bought a set, got some total levels really fast, banned. He was 2 levels from maxing his total level.

These are just a couple of them but I personally know a few 'minor stakers' that bought a phat or some gp, staked a load and got banned because Jagex realised they bought back in.
