November 29, 200718 yr In runescape they make it as easy as possible to make money. So when someone gets 1 mil it's like yay i got one mil..... no yay this guy go 10 mil yesterday and you got 1 mil in a week. You see what i'm talking about, making money is so easy in Runescape that it's not appreciated when you make the money. It would be better if it were harder to make money that way you could appreciate it in the game the same way you do in real life. I think this would make the game 20 times more fun and also a little more challenging. This may sound kinda like wow but once you think about it it's a good idea.
November 29, 200718 yr All the current easiness means is that different levels of money are appreciated. Making a partyhat, well respected.
November 29, 200718 yr Author well yes but even more respected if the money was harder to get and it wouldn't cost as much. Which means not alot of money now is alot then.
November 29, 200718 yr Money is hard to make, most people that can make money easier had to work hard to get the skill level(such as 91 rcing) to make money that fast.
November 29, 200718 yr Hell, you want to know a game that has a super-inflated economy and it is really easy to make money? It is called penguinbattle. You can make 100,000 coins a day from just interest, and, if you felt like opening a clan, you can make 1% of the total money you have in there. I make about 4.2 million coins on the clan bank. So, compare runescape to penguin battle, runescape is harder to make money in. But, is this a suggestion or a discussion?
November 29, 200718 yr What does it matter what the "accomplished' level of money is? I like the current system because even new players can feel accomplished. They can be happy to have 1000 or 10K, while medium players feel happy with several 100K or a couple mil and advanced players are happy with 10s or 100s of millions. Plus it means greater variety of prices. P2P forever!... Or at least 'til <insert excuse here> happens98% of people have signatures with made up statistics in them. If you're one of the 2% that doesn't, copy this and add it to your signature.
November 30, 200718 yr Value of money is falling. Same thing as real world. 30 years ago, you could go to the movies for 2 dollars. Now, I am lucky to leave at under 15. To see the faces of those who were dear to them bedewed with tears, and to clasp their wives and daughters in his arms." -Genghis Khan

November 30, 200718 yr Value of money is falling. Same thing as real world. 30 years ago, you could go to the movies for 2 dollars. Now, I am lucky to leave at under 15. That's not the loss of value...Back then you probably won 25 cents per hour, now you win 8 dollars per hour. Author, that is a horrible idea. RS is already easy/challenging to make your money. I have never gotten higher than 7M and thats 'low'. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
November 30, 200718 yr The more money in the economy, the less its worth. If it takes a hour to make 200k now (Example). and you are trying to buy something worth 1mil, it would take 5 days.' Well if its harder to make cash (IE: 100k per hour) then what ever used to cost 1mil would cost 500k now.

November 30, 200718 yr RS is not "super inflated". Look at Japan's currency, the Yen. It is around 100 Yen per Dollar - a cup of coffee is 400 Yen. Does that mean that it's easier to get money in Japan? No, the Yen has a different purchasing power. You are correct, however, that many things in RS are unnecessarily cheap - Barrows, the best armor in the game, for example. Jagex really did the game an injustice by making it so common; Torag should be at least 20M and Guthan at least 40M - that would make the game so much more interesting. November 30, 200718 yr reading this gave me a heart attack, such strain to understand and read further... Agreed. Even though we're not here to nitpick at another person's grammar/language skills, the original post's author has managed to give me a mild headache as I desperately tried to decode the post entry. I digress. Having GP is highly subjective and it's really dependent on the player's in-game goals. Personally, I just want to have a good time, leisurely work on my skills and not worry about the amount of GP in my bank. Is it really such a big deal that I rarely have more than 1M GP in my bank, even after you've looked at my skill levels? To some people this is an absolutely soul shaking shocker and they'll think, "Holy cow! Celestrana is such a noob for not having a mil in her bank!" One of the reasons why there are so many problems in the world -- and when I say world, I *am* referring to real and in-game -- is that the majority of the planet is too obsessed with money and become very short-sighted to the things that really matter, like will our children have clean air to breathe, fresh water to drink and all those other life necessities. I can also say the same to RuneScape. Sure, you're a very low leveled player and you've just joined members and you're obsessing over the coveted Abyssal Whip. So, you jump onto the forums and scour the posts and player-made guides in the hopes of finding a super get rich quick scheme to change your measly 10K GP to a whopping 2M GP so that you can buy yourself a whip and some cool armor to go with it. You eventually come across a suggestion to pick flax in Seer's Village for a week and manage to sell it for something close to 2M GP. Whoop-di-do! But what if you accidentally lose it on a foolish trip into the Wilderness or you lose it in a hard boss battle? You'll yell/scream/cry in front of your computer for a few minutes and realize you've lost a week of membership in a few minutes. But, there's a remedy to a situation like this. Instead of obsessing over items and ample amounts of GP, work on your skills. There are lots of skills that can help generate a decent amount of GP, especially if you have some foresight to plan out a small system that works for you. Skills last forever while GP and items do not. Do you want a whip? Work on your slayer. Do you want a dragon scimitar? Train your combat skills and do some quests. Do you want to be a pirate? Become Guybrush Threepwood... OK, wrong game but I'm finally getting to the point where I'm trying to say is that we shouldn't worry about getting the latest and coolest item or having ample amounts of GP but work on your skills and become a top notch player that can go out and get and/or make whatever your heart desires. November 30, 200718 yr One of the reasons why there are so many problems in the world -- and when I say world, I *am* referring to real and in-game -- is that the majority of the planet is too obsessed with money and become very short-sighted to the things that really matter, like will our children have clean air to breathe, fresh water to drink and all those other life necessities. You know what's the difference between economists and moralists? Moralists view the world the way they wish it was, while economists view the world the way it really is. It's not that people ignore things that "really matter", it's actually that people don't believe those things really matter. Basically, value is subjective, and a lot of people in this world don't believe that fresh air and water are very valuable things and the mere fact that you disagree is simply your opinion. November 30, 200718 yr I wouldn't say money is easy to get. SURE there are people who CAN make many mils in a day. But that takes months of learning the game and training the skill or in the case of merchanting building up your knowledge of the market etc. When your new to the game it is hard and a huge achievment to make your first 1k Few levels later you can make 1k easily, but it becomes challenging and an achievement to make 100k Next up you find tht easy and find making tht first mil hard Beyond that you find making 1mil easy but making many mils hard Ease of getting money in rs is linked to game knowledge and skill. But the thing is as your knowledge and skill rises, so does the cost of the things you want. I mean when I wanted full rune, back in the day, it took me ages to save up and get it. Now I could buy it easily, but it will take me an age to save up for a barrows set or full drag or a godsword, which is the stuff for my kind of level Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
November 30, 200718 yr I agree money is easy (too?) to get, even with no skill If yuo buy glories and collect red spider eggs in Edgeville cave you get like 400k per hour... and no skill required.. Nevertheless, people are still peeping for money... Human nture, laziness... But I think that prices are linked to this easyness or not. Should money be harder to get, would price greatly decrease. Also, it is a question of scale you set, think to the foreign exchange rate between USD and JOPY for example. It is just that 1mio in USD is worth like 100 time mroe than 1Mio JPY. And (should salaries be same in both country)it just take 100 time less to get 1Mio JPY than 1Mio USD. Because of this prices will be around 100 time "cheaper" if you take out currency. Think to earning money and prices that way and all will get balanced again ;)
November 30, 200718 yr i disagree, if anything money should be a bit easier to get and highend items should be harder to get but untradable. Making money harder to get would simply add to the "need" for rl trading. Plus it would be pretty hard to change how easy or hard it is to get money, very hard.
November 30, 200718 yr Nevertheless, people are still peeping for money... Human nture, laziness... Incorrect, it's not that the person buying the red spider eggs is lazy, it's that he's better off doing something else. Why would I spend an hour gathering 1k random stuff for a value of 100k if my income is anywhere above 100k per hour? Comparative advantage would state that you're better off doing what you're best ad doing and then trading for anything else. So it's not "laziness", it's "efficiency". 76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007 Finally the secrets of goal achieving are revealed! November 30, 200718 yr That's a pretty good suggestion, and I'm sure of that the game would become more fun. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
