I was having a great day until suddenly I found out... I've been hacked!!

 

I got a good, trustworthy friend (who chooses to remain anonymous) to change my pass and pin for me... although it was too late. I got in my bank and viewed my blank bank the night it happened. We lost my new pin (his mom threw it away) and forgot it or else I'd show u my bank of nooby seeds and 1 gp!! How could the hacker do that to me? I lost 11 months of hard work from my items... This includes: 2m gp, d wc axe, d legs, d boots, infinity boots, whip, multiple d longs/scimmys/dds/rune plate/rune boots, all three cavs, wizzy boots, black trimmed pl8 and legs, various other stuff like thousands of various runes, and the goal I worked on for 3 months straight... 99 cooking, I lost 70,000 monkfish (ability to trim my fishing cape)... Hackers need their houses burnt down for ruining other people's lives.

 

I have had a couple donations from people, not anything like the 60m/99 cooking I worked so hard for... it's better than nothing though.

 

 

 

I accept all suggestions for building back up my spirit and account... I am currently fishing sharks in Catherby since my bank is locked temporarily.

Either your password was too easy to guess, was written down someplace, or you had downloaded and installed something dodgy. Either way, you should've taken the initiative to secure your computer.

 

 

 

If you played it at your friend's house then that's even worse -- you don't know what kind of computer they have.

Hint: It wasn't a "hacker". Packs of wild uber l33t hackers DO NOT roam runescape looking for innocent accounts to steal. If a hacker was l33t enough to hack Jagex's servers, he wouldn't bother with stealing accounts from a Java game. Trust me. I'd go to your so-called "friend" and ask for you stuff back.

Tbh You should use this as motivation to work really hard. I've gotten hacked before but I lost the account not just the items. Personally I feel your friend is the guilty one here. I mean c'mon! he just happens to lose your pin and it just so happens that right after telling him your pass and pin all your stuff goes missing. -.-

My friend did not steal my stuff, I called him and told him my stuff and he changed it because I did not want to lose the small stuff I did have, or my account. Also, I have slow dial up so he changed it while I was on the phone with him.

Chances are your friend did it.... But meh if you insist otherwise then ok.

I don't think my friend did this though, considering I was hacked before I told him my information, and I trust him too much, he could not have done such a thing. I know for a fact he would not do such a thing to me. He has been a good friend to me over the years and I trust him with more than my rs account.

With a good secure password, and a good secure bank PIN, you can NEVER get hacked. And don't you DARE rebuke me!

 

 

 

I know I sound like Jagex but if you got hacked, it has to be your fault completely!

Bottom line: With a hard to guess pass, a good bank pin, and good recovery questions, as well as a reasonable amount of computer security, you should have been fine.. Maybe you picked up a keylogger somewhere? :|

you didn't get hacked, it was more your fault then the hackers, you allowed the person to have complete control over your account by giving him your pass and pin, common sense is better than any anti-hacker method I've come across

You don't speculate on how you were 'hacked' so I'd toss in the guess grenade of either;

 

 

 

a) Going to a (cheat?) site that asks for account details or installs a keylogger, third party client perchance?

 

 

 

B) Leaving your password and bank pin in a method thats easily retrieved/guessed by others. Heres a tip for the future, never log-in or enter your PIN number when anyone else is about in the room with you.

 

 

 

Also, no disrespect to you or your trustworthy friend but getting someone else to access your account is a huge no-no.

 

 

 

Each account should only be used by ONE person. Account sharing is NOT allowed.

 

 

 

You may not sell, transfer or lend your account to anyone else, or permit anyone else to use your account, and you may not accept an account that anybody else offers you.

 

 

 

I'm glad your not quitting because of this HUGE setback. I'm a self-confessed pixel hugger myself and if I lost a third of what you had, be it through my own negligence or otherwise, I'd seriously consider if it was worth continuing to play that account.

 

 

 

So to recap, heres my 2 cents;

 

 

 

[hide=Just some ideas]A) Pick a reasonably complex password and unique PIN number, not a date or house number or similar.

 

B) Never go to norti Runescape sites (no I'm not inferring that you previously had) or download and install 3rd party Runescape clients.

 

C) Never write your password/PIN down/put it on your mobile/PDA etc.

 

D) Never log-in while someone is in observation distance of your keyboard.

 

E) Only use your own or family PC to play, you don't know if someone elses has a keylogger in![/hide]

You don't know anything about hacking, do you? I don't know a lot about it ether but I do know that a good hacker can get into almost anything. I believe it wasn't your fault. Now you have 2 options:

 

1) Feeling sad, thinking how you could prevent it. Blame your computer, blame your friend, blame yourself.

 

2) make a blog on tip.it and set some goals. Like 10m are a 99 skill. People like to see how hacked players get back on their feet (I do :) )since they're used that hacked people beg all the time.

 

 

 

If I was you I'd go for the 2nd one 8-) .

Lawl, I'm in a good mood today so I'm going to say you should fish sharks or woodcut but if all else fails, Pick Some Flax!

I'm quite disappointed in the majority of everyone's replies. I am not asking for donations, it's mooching from other people's hard work, and I'm mad that happened to me. I was hoping for some support in building my spirit and account back up, but everyone keeps telling me to fish sharks... the shark market is dropping and I typed in my note that I'm currently doing that. I appreciate those who tried to help and those who did help some.

How about mining coal using the coal trucks? Then mine/buy some iron and smith steel bars. If you have a cannon ball mould, you could even make cannonballs out of these. Once you have 70 mining, mine adamite. That's supposedly the most profitatble ore to mine..

:( Unlucky man, this has happened to me a number of times, and i lost a 99 mage account too in the past, but you just have to move on, what i found was taking a break from RuneScape for a week, then starting again helps,

 

 

 

You should try RuneCrafting, using the abbys to craft nats, at start switch to ancients and use Edge Tele, after you make enough for a few glories start using them.

 

 

 

You can also try skilling, just work your way up to every thing by using skills together, i done this and made 10M at the end of it, all skills are connected in runescape which is good. Need some logs to burn or fletch? Woodcut, Need some armour, weapons mine and smith.

 

 

 

Its also a good time to find a new passion, i lost my santa 2 weeks ago, and i found a new passion in Runescape and thats combat, i achieved 85 to 88 Attack in the last week, and Im still training, and have made arround 5M cash just training attack, go to ankous and collect Blood Runes, Death Runes, Clues, P Ess, Mith Ore..etc it all builds up well, fish for your food, cook it, and when you have about 500 of any type of food (sharks are best as you make a profit considering what you'll collect there) go there.
