Schmo0zle
By him writing in 3rd person, it sounds like BOB DOLE. As a brit, i don't care very strongly who wins the american presidency, although i forgot his name, but i like that guy no stereotype southerner would vote for. Barack Obama? assassin_696
Libertarians believe in personal freedom. The ultimate freedom is life. Abortion is not a religious topic at all. Some people try to make it one but they are being stupid. It is merely a matter of is an unborn child a person or not. This is the way I break it down when I think about it. If a Libertarian believes they are a person then the freedom to life extends to them. The freedom of life would trump the freedom of choice for the mother. (freedom of convenience vs freedom of life) If a Libertarian believes that an unborn child is not a person then the way to give the most freedom to people is to allow the Mother to abort the unborn child if she so chooses. Without wanting to turn this into an abortion debate, I follow the second of your attitudes. I do have some respect for the guy for at least backing it up with libertarian values though. Ambassadar
I mean really if the whole thing is an issue of choice then let's send it to the states and let the people choose for themselves what they want instead of having unelected judges choose for them. If people want to vote to allow abortion then they can. If they choose to vote against it then that's their choice as well. It really appears to be the most practical solution I have seen. Ambassadar
Here is the transcript of Ron Paul being interviewed on Glen Beck. I just got done reading it and found it to be pretty interesting. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/ ... gb.01.html
assassin_696
Even if he did share an ideology very close to yours, does that really mean that he's what you think America needs? What i'm trying to say is, I agree with many of his policies, but do you believe that he's really president material? If people want to vote to allow abortion then they can. If they choose to vote against it then that's their choice as well. It really appears to be the most practical solution I have seen. If its really an issue of choice let those who do not agree with abortions, choose not to have them. Those that do agree with abortion, choose to have them! Its not a case of majority against minorityand limiting peoples choices. Its a case of medical research to make sure it is safe and the opinion of the person having it. It has absolutley nothing to do with anyone or anything else other than the parties involved. As for presidential elections, all the republican candidates seem unappealing. Either through policy or as a person. So I would go with a Democrat. I think that whoever it is needs to focus on America and humanitarian aid efforts and global warming rather than exporting democracy. They need to be laissez faire so to speak with many issues abroad. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.
Adam007
It's quite hard to believe Ron Paul is actually a republican, with the positive & humanistic values he advocates. I don't like any political party, but I'd register rep. just to vote for a candidate like him. :) I know, right? I almost feel that if he was running as a Democrat, he would be way ahead of everyone in the party. But alas, he's a Republican and will not run Independent, which come to think of it, may actually be a showing of how honest he actually is. He's not even willing to distance himself from a party that WILL lose with any other candidate. A party that supports Bush and the war. If he got the nomination, I *WOULD* vote for him. 100 times if I could. The thing about Ron Paul is that he's running with the stances of a traditional republican. The party has changed so much in the past decade, it's nothing like how it used to be. They used to be pro-small government, but obviously things have changed. I'm more of a democrat on most issues and had plan to support Obama, but in Michigan he won't be on the ticket in the primaries(long story), so I might (*shock*) vote republican and go with Ron Paul. There are definitely a few things I don't agree with with Ron Paul, but I'd gladly take him over any other republican and over Hilary.

l0l0lpur3
I'm in the UK so this doesn't directly affect me - but i just hope whoever wins the next elections in both the UK and US manages to fix all the major issues, but due to the stupidity of the general public it wont surprise me if issues like the war in iraq/mass immigration/flooding etc are still not fixed in afew years time. RichieMcD
I like the sound of this guy. He sounds like a guy who will think, not invade now think later stuff like bush. I think he will gain a big following in europe aswell as pretty much everyone in europe hates bush. What i like about him: [X] Ron Paul is a constitutionalist. [X] Ron has never voted to raise taxes. [X] Ron has never voted for an unbalanced budget. [X] Ron has never voted for the Iraq War. [ ] Ron has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. [ ] Ron has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. [X] Ron has never voted to raise congressional pay. [X] Ron has never taken a government-paid junket. [ ] Ron wants to abolish the Federal Reserve, the Income Tax, the IRS, the Department of Education, Energy, and Homeland Security. [ ] Ron voted against the Patriot Act. [X] Ron votes against regulating the Internet. [ ] Ron voted against NAFTA and CAFTA. [ ] Ron votes against the United Nations. [X] Ron votes against the welfare state. [X] Ron votes against reinstating a military draft. [X] Ron votes to preserve the constitution. [X] Ron votes to cut government spending. [X] Ron votes to lower healthcare costs. [X] Ron votes to end the war on drugs. (i would like it if marijuana was no longer considered a drug.) [X] Ron votes to protect civil liberties. [X] Ron votes to secure our borders with real immigration reform. [ ] Ron votes to eliminate tax funded abortions and to overturn Roe v Wade. [X] Ron votes to protect religious freedom. The things in bold i do not like at all. I think america should be seriously regulated in terms of gun ownership. I think the united nations is a great organisation that help many throughout the world The things underlined i really like. I think people should be allowed look at whatever they want on the internet aslong as its legal or no risk in harm to public I.E viewing child porn or viewing sites on bomb construction. The things in italics i think contradict eachother. I do not see how he can lower medical costs while reducing government expenditure. Either way by the sounds of it he would get my vote over bush or any of his M16, Oil drinking buddies any day. I think after bush is out and this guy comes in it will help make foreign peoples opinion on america I.E europeans.
