No more RANDOM EVENTS/PURE ESS needed anymore now?!

Featured Replies

If you read the runescape diary on Real World Trading you will see why they put those random events.

Real-world trading is a problem for every MMOG. "The first bots in RuneScape were identified by us within a few months of the game's release," says Andrew. "We dealt with them the best way we could at that time: by changing the game so they were no longer able to function." The game engine, its code, has been altered many times to break macro programs. In game, the first Random Event ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ we call them anti-macro events (AME) ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ was added to the game one month after the March 2004 release of RuneScape 2. As the game has grown, the demand for gold has grown with it, so it is worth gold-sellers' time to make smarter bots. "We keep developing technologies to combat bots, but it's like an arms race ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ we stop bots, they improve their macros, we stop them, they improve again," says Andrew. The longer we keep doing this, the harder it's going to be to keep stopping bots. "If we don't break that vicious cycle now, it would just keep getting worse and worse. It could reach a point where macro software becomes undetectable."

To sum it up. They feared that bots will be undetectable so they did this crusade again RWT and have effectly killed alot of Real World Trading off.

These bots were created to stop the bots of real world trading. So my point is. Now that Real World Trading is "dead."

Do we really have anymore uses for the events?

My soultion: Keep the ones that gives out clothes but the rest they can throw out.

Note: Yes, people macro skills but if Jagex says they are good as they say they are. They can ban those people too. As you can see from the quote below!!!

Mod Rob continues: "We have automatic and manual systems in place to identify bots, but limited resources to deal with them. It isn't possible to find and ban every single one." Mod Paul M follows with, "The Player and Forum Moderators, and other legitimate players, have put in a lot of effort and deserve recognition. They see more than we ever could, so we follow up on as many Abuse Reports as possible."

Note #2: While we can deal with random events why not TAKE OUT PURE ESS?!?

Exactly what I was thinking today while wcing yews...no more bots = no more need for randoms. Hopefully they realize this and implement this immediately. :D

Yes hopefully this is the light at the end of the tunnel people keep talking about.

Random events were made to stop abusers, but JaGeX also said that Random events are to be an interesting suprise from the monotony of whatever you're doing.

I randoms are still required, but to a lesser extent. Some players may still choose to cheat by using a macro on an already established character.

I'd say leave them in, but reduce how often they occur.

Just because all the gold farming bots are gone doesn't mean the regular cheaters will go.

There will still be a use for randoms BUT I still do agree with you to some point. The random events that give our rewards such as mime and camo should stay but the annoying ones like EVIL BOB, evil twin and Pinball etc.. should be taken out. And they should be much more random when you get them. Not every time you teleport!

Some other random events are fun though, such as the maze. A half key from the Mysterious Old Man isn't bad going either. :D

I say keep the random events, as at least they'll still slow down those people you said use macro programs. Jagex will still be able to ban them. :)

There will still be players who try to make money and gain levels through bots. I suggest Jagex keeps the randoms. Also, if they remove them, there will be a huge decrease in gems and I still haven't gotten complete mime random :(

Most people read a news article (well my friends do) whiling doing skills where randoms can get annoying. And yes I love when I get Rick to annoy me for a 300 coins.

I was thinking the same thing (only keep clothes randoms), but after you have a full set, you shouldn't get that random anymore until you lose it.

Come to my Clan chat (I'm there if I'm online) if you wish to borrow a Green H'ween mask, Blue H'ween Mask, Red H'ween Mask, or Santa for a reasonable price.

actually, while bots gone, we don't need even pure ess anymore...

Jagex says they got the techonology to find and notice the bots. So they can just ban the people who bot. It's just gold farmers were too many. It shouldn't be hard to stop a cheater here and there. With a few more player mods. Yes it's possible to ban that occusional cheater.

You should have said keep some of the ones that give out clothes. Honestly, how may prince outfits, and frog helmets do you really need???

Random events were a way to temporarily slow down the bots. Either way, they were never really useful apart from giving rewards. The bots would bot right through them.

The problem is: it's difficult to detect macros. If the macro walks, and clicks the same way a human does, Rs can't detect it. It's when the macro is too perfect that it gets noticed. So we do have a big problem with this still..

I did.....

Btw, the tilly fishing cape person, if Jagex is gonna keep some of the clothes ones in, theyr gonna keep all of the clothes in. I dont think it matters to them how much different event clothes are compared to each other.

I enjoy randoms. Except for the one where bob makes you give him fish. And the costume ones that only give 500 gp. But of the rest, 90% of them give you worthwhile rewards. I've had a couple 100k pulls from mazes recently.

That is basically Jagex saying sorry. :XD:

You know, in all this crap I've been hearing you say, Latino, this is the one that I agree with.

Currently will be using my Oni Tsurugi account to attempt to get 99 on all free skills without spending any gp, just for the sake of doing so.

You got to remember that your just one person. And I seen loads of people hate randoms. Majority wins?

Edit: Thanks firstt. Fellow WOMDA Team Member.

Ok, I see where your getting LatinoKing, but I disagree. Although real-world-trading is by far the chief reason macros exist, it is definitely not the only reason. I guarantee you there will still be macros after the trade update the 1st week of January. A lot of people have macros not because they want to sell the gold they make for real money, but because they want to farm gold for their "main", and are too lazy to do the work themselves. After they see that random events are gone, they will happily say, "Random events are gone! Now I can peacefully macro without random events, the only thing that could stop me!"

copyofsunny2hy0tp7.jpg

This_Evening.png

But why macro for your main when you can only transfer 3k every 15 minutes?

If they were to macro, it'd be only on their main.

JaGEx also said that they're fully capable of finding people who macro, so you'd be putting your main in danger.

Random events don't stop them.. they bot through it aswell. They have scripts for all random events integrated into their main botting script. You've probably already seen a bot do a random event before.

The only thing that can solve this situation is better detection systems from Jagex, and it's not going to be easy..

JaGEx also said that they're fully capable of finding people who macro, so you'd be putting your main in danger.

Well, they said that, but it's all talk if you ask me. If they really could do that, we would have stop seeing a ton of boots hacking down yew trees in f2p.

How can people trade from their autoers to mains once the update happens? They can't. No more uses for Random Events. If they want to bot they will do it in their mains? And Jagex can just go along and ban them.
