Facts of The Change

runescape02.jpg

This is an educated topic, not a rant. Please do not spam the forum or make uneducated replys.

48 Hours ago, Jagex deleted the Wilderness we all came up to know. They added different minigames which gave pking TEAMS a huge advantage. The solo pkers, the mb'ers, and more were ALL effected by this.

With the release of this, you will see MANY effects of the update. My first topic will be SKILLS, which you all love to train.

However now, the skills are destroyed and it will be VERY hard to make them stable and able to ADAPT.

Runecrafting

Runecrafting has been around for a while. However, most of these runes are PKING runes. Deaths, chaos, bloods, etc. will no longer be in use other than by the very few people with pking teams in the bounty hunter games. Also, as of January, there wil be no fast way of leveling up runecraft. The rune crafting worlds will be ruined, which will hurt the runecrafting economy. This contradicts Jagex' idea of putting the world into themes (Law, Natures, Air crafting worlds)

Construction

Thankfully, the update didn't effect this skill too much. There is one big thing that will be effected at January, which includes no private, friendly drop partys in you're own house.

Herblore

This skill will be greatly effected.

The herblore economy WILL crash as over 50% of the

combat potion sales were from pures, and pker's which are not

doing what they used to.

Fletching

This skill will be effected by the

lack of arrows being made to player ill.

Woodcutting

The main provider with the Fletching skill,

this will be effected by the lack of logs being

cut into arrows being

made to player kill.

Slayer

The Main reason player's train Slayer is to get the great award of the abyssal demon. The whip and Dark Bow. Players will no longer use these to pk (you can't protect) which means more selling and less buying. Prices will fall.

Mining

No more Rune rock pking equals

MANY more people swinging their pickaxe at the only

mining money gain.

Smithing

Much less people are going to buy Rune sets

especially if you're in a clan.

Cooking and Fishing

You can finally say Farewell to these skills. The only reason why the lobster was still selling was because of Player Killers and clans. Think of how much food was lost in the wilderness. The Sharks, lobsters, swordfish will NO LONGER be selling (at least how much it used to). This will cause a major fall in prices. Cooking will no longer have a use other than to get the cape.

OTHER EFFECTS:

DAGGONOTH KINGS, KALPHITE QUEEN, GODWARS

Teams will NO LONGER find this a use for a legible way to make money. Teams can NO LONGER give the shares of the item gained. Players will now compete for the kills rather than not caring because they trust their friend from giving a percentage. This contradicts lootshare. There is no more reason for lootsharen other than being jealous of another person's monster drop.

For Example, if two friends Go to Kalphite Queen, and they get a Dragon Chain drop, the player who got the dragon chain will no longer be able to trade 50% of the cash to their teamate.

DROP PARTYS: (without 100 noobs)

Drop partys are now ruined. THe only way to have a drop party currently is to go to Party Pete. However if you're dropping expencive items, there will be noobs who get news of this ALL OVER THE SERVER! They can even get TELEPORTED there by a bank teller for FREE?!

Desert Treasure:

Players won't have much a desire to do it anymore. 90% of the players today have done the quest to get the ancients to Player Kill (and actually make a profit). Most of the players doing it after the update will do it for the Quest Points ONLY

GETTING KILLED:

No matter where you get killed, players will NO LONGER be able to return the items back to you. For example, if you're friends go to Chaos Elemental and someone looses a Veracs helm (idk lol) then the person teaming with them will no longer be able to wait for it to appear, pick it up, give it to the person.

This also goes with for example Daggonoth Killing. Do you think people would want to bring guthans if they knew there was no way to get it back??

There's still CASTLE WARS!!!!11'

More fun than wildy pking imo and never boring :wink:

And about the getting killed, your friend can bless your gravestone and you have more than enough time to go get your stuff. Now you can take untradeable items like torso or firecape and still have time to get them back. And at places such as dagg kings with a good team someone should be able to bless your grave so you can come back if you die.

You do exaggerate a lot such as 'No use for cooking except cape'.

So you are saying we don't need cooked food anymore? We used cooked food for many things including slayer.

and we will still be able to sell a law for 1k because that fits under the 3k limit.

Wow, this was the biggest exaggeration of anything, I've ever seen in the history of the world.

Yes, this thread was an even bigger exaggeration than THAT! ^^^^

Man, I really do love Runescape, and I'm sure if it was a real person I would of asked it to marry me by now.

Castle Wars has few tangible rewards. And it takes level 70 prayer to bless a gravestone...
If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system.

Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.

The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."

The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

You do exaggerate a lot

owned :P

true for smithing though right before I get 99 when I was planning to make rune sets :wall:

Poor writing skills + poor argument = poor topic

You contradict yourself in saying this thread is educated. Which it is not. Your arguments are exaggerations and emphasize too much the economy that did NOT revolve around PKing

Talk about sensationalism. I stopped half way through cause it was such rubish. These updates are great, I have been playing clan wars after never doing any PvP and am loving it.

you know, if they mess up CW me and you probably will be gone

Well said. But I dont think 50% of combat pot users are pkers. :?:

so basically what you are saying is that all RS economy was around pking..a little exaggerated isnt it?

I predict the loot-share system will be updated soon enough so the group monsters hunting wont be eliminated, and together with the Bounty hunter,pots,food, bolts,runes and other will still have demand.

Last thing,if there is one skill who definitely wont be affected by this update is slayer.

Few points...

This fully depends on the way the trading is done. I personally would be surprised if air runes for example weren't still craftable with runners who can make a little profit out of it.

This skill will be greatly effected. The herblore economy WILL crash as over 50% of the combat potion sales were from pures, and pker's which are not doing what they used to.

The oversupply of potions was so huge after GE was launched, that the latest updates won't be too bad for it. The potion prices are already decreasing day by day and there's a lot higher supply than demand for them.

This skill will be effected by the lack of arrows being made to player ill. -- The main provider with the Fletching skill, this will be effected by the lack of logs being cut into arrows being made to player kill.

I don't agree with this. It's currently a lot easier and faster, probably even cheaper (at least if you smith the heads yourself) to buy premade arrows. I don't see why would fletching suffer from the updates as this skill is used for leveling (making bows for alching) instead of pkin. The only thing I can think of is the decreasing demand for high alchables.

For woodcutting, lets think it like this. When did you last time see some legit player cutting a lot of normal trees? After answering please compare that to the amount of higher level tree cutters. Arrowshafts play so minimal role in woodcutting.

The Main reason player's train Slayer is to get the great award of the abyssal demon. The whip and Dark Bow. Players will no longer use these to pk (you can't protect) which means more selling and less buying. Prices will fall.

They are also used for training, if they keep dropping more their supply will decrease a lot and the possibility to lose them actually might increase their demand.

Training anyone?

I personally see your visions of the future far too pessimistic. Many materials are gathered and many skills are trained for non-pkin things. There are things that go with pkin, but pkin is just one small part of them. I also couldn't help laughing when I looked at your farewell list....

* Buying P2P Membership

= Does this mean you, your friend or everyone? Definately not the last option and I personally wouldn't even bother mentioning it in that way if I quit my p2p after an update that isn't even here yet. Or did you mean breaking the rules and buying p2p pins?

* Fast Cooking Experience

= How does this get removed? Even if the demand for sharks dropped to zero, the possibility of getting fast xp remains. Not everyone train skills because they are profitable.

* Fast Mining Experience

= Err...? How many miners have used bankers to gain the max amount of xp per hour? Zero, no1 banks granite.

* Fast Woodcutting Experience

= Same as for cooking.

* Helping Friends

= depends how do you help them.

* Super Potions

= When did they get removed? Won't there be a need to pot for clan wars, monsters, training or bounty hunting?

* Many Gold Sellers

= Is this a negative thing?

* Many Loyal Players

= Many loyal players quit every day, many people slowly become loyal members and definately far too many people have overreacted this week. Heck, when wilderness was introduced people were quitting too. It's all about the ending result, not the first news.

* Selling a law for 1k

= You can still sell a law rune for 1k, or even for 3k if you like to.
