What kind of job is it?

And honestly when you're 15 you shouldn't make too much of a deal of a job-interview.

A friend just got a job at BestBuy as a cashier. It took him three interviews, a drug test, a day of training in a classroom, and on the job training. He will only be getting $8.50 an hour, but the benefits are great, such as 5% under cost in items they sell. That in itself is a huge amount if you buy a lot there.

Sorry for the off-topic... A job interview should always be taken seriously, even if you know you'll get it. If you impress the manager now, he or she will obviously hire you. If you work well and impress them up to the point where they are looking for an assistant manager, you could be a prime candidate, even if you're still in high school.

Remember:

  •

[*:1apava4e]Always shake the hand of the interviewer and make eye contact.

[*:1apava4e]At the end, when they ask if you have any questions, DO ask questions, even if you don't care. This shows you have interest in the company, and aren't just doing it for a quick few bucks (even if you are).

[*:1apava4e]Don't chew gum or eat/drink anything

[*:1apava4e]Dress casually, this is at your discretion.

[*:1apava4e]Make eye contact and act as calm and collected as possible. Make it look as if you are comfortable being there.

[*:1apava4e]Show up 15 minutes before you are scheduled to interview. This makes a big impression on the interviewer.

Hope that helps. The only job I ever applied for I didn't get because I wasn't 'at risk'. I might look for one this summer, we'll see.

but back on topic...yeah peter pretty much summed it up

dont drag your feet or slouch in ur chair or any of that, stand and sit up straight and look the person in the eye...speak clearly and dont answer with just yes or no, elaborate and stuff...

also make yourself sound really good, dont make it sound like you are bragging though. after a few different interviews youll find the sweet spot about how much you can say how awesome you are without going overboard. and dont worry, fast food resturaunts are always hiring, you basically already have the job.

I just want this to go well so that in futer refrences, my futere employers can ask them if i am good or not.

I do a lot of hiring at my McDonalds... and everythiong that Peter said is dead on. I cant stress eye contact and basic communication skills enough, however. They are simply HUGE.

Another big thing is smiling. Our hiring program is called 'Hire the smile' for a reason.

Lotsa these!!! ------> :D :D :D :D

If they ask your weaknesses, tell them something that might actually be a good thing. For example saying that you're a perfectionist or you sometimes try too hard can be good things too.

Smile and remember to be positive. No matter what kind of a job are you looking for, people who can't smile aren't really liked. Look the his/her eyes, talk like you were the interviewer, trust yourself and let the other one hear and see it.

Try to put something nice on. Sometimes even your clothes might be the thing why you don't get the job. Some colorful hippie shirts or band shirts are never good. Also if you're going to McDonald's or something, it isn't that wise to rent/buy a Hugo Boss suit.

If he asks what kind of a job are you looking for, tell him your favourite spots but also remind that you are willing to do any kind of job if it isn't possible to work at your favourite places.

Be realistic with the salary. Sometimes they have the price they are going to pay, but still ask for your own wish to see if you know your price. Sometimes people have asked far too much and not gotten the place. Look at some salary tables (can be found from Google probably) and be sure you remember what people doing that job are getting.

It's at a fast food restaurat, so you don't have to go in a smoking or something. Just wear your everyday clothing, as long as it's a bit 'casual', I think it looks a bit weird if you walk in with your Fubu pyjamas or somekind of bloody looking gothic sweater. Ask for your salary but don't try to get more or something, because they probably have a normal minumum standard for people your age, shake hands at the start and end and act normal, don't be rude.

Don't you mean the employee discount is wholesale price + 5%? That's what my friend got when he worked at Best Buy.

Anyhow lionheart, you should be fine. As long as your grades are half decent, and you have good manners/overall appearance/likeability, you'll get the job for sure. When I told the manager my average was 93, he hired me on the spot

You are correct. One of the people who worked at Best Buy told him that it was 5% under, but he asked again yesterday and found that it was 5% over. Still, that's a deal.

Lol, working at Wendy's, Mcdonald's etc. barely makes use of your academic skills. As long as you know how to behave and handle customers, they'll hire you. The salary might not be big but it should be enough for a 15 year old.

It's wendy's.... I mean come on.... Just go home and change your clothes. Put on some nice jeans and a nice collared shirt... If I was hiring and I saw some guy walk in with a tie and slacks on I would be kinda wierded out... You CAN over dress yourself... They will probably tell you your salary when you walk in. Places like that pretty much hire 90% of the people they ask to interview. If they weren't looking for someone they wouldn't have pulled your application and called you for an interview.... It's wendy's dude....
