Solidus_77
You'd be surprised how many "geeks" and "nerds" are some of the funniest, outgoing people you can meet. Then what exactly makes those people geeks/nerds? 76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007 Finally the secrets of goal achieving are revealed! pryomancer
My friend recently got glasses. One of the funniest things I've seen was him sat on xbox live with glasses and the headset.
tryto
You dont need to be careful with glasses. I play tackle football(American), rugby, Ive gotten into several fistfight, Ive gotten punched in the face while wearing them. And yet I still have the same pair that around 5 years old. Or maybe (and what I implied in my previous post) it could mean that people don't fit the stereotypes perfectly. Nerds/geek and social outcasts do go hand in hand, why do you think the most common insult is "get a (social) life"? 76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007 Finally the secrets of goal achieving are revealed! Or maybe (and what I implied in my previous post) it could mean that people don't fit the stereotypes perfectly. Nerds/geek and social outcasts do go hand in hand, why do you think the most common insult is "get a (social) life"? People nowadays are ignorant, and do not use the correct words in thier sentences. Such as "Oh my god your sniper is soooo gay!" with translates to "Oh my god your sniper is soooo homosexual!" or "...sooo happy!" ??? Made no sense. Same with nerd: a nerd is a person who is smart and likes being smart. (with some other things such as lover of sci-fi and RPGs, etcetc) But never a social outcast. In theory, nerds are friends with nerds right? Then they already have a life: different from the person saying it, but a life noneoftheless. And someone who has friends is not an social outcast. But this "Get a life." 'insult', if you would call it that, is just a way to say "Your life is not like mine, therefore you are lower than me." Because nowadays everyone must have a girl/boyfriend, not be a virgin, and listen to either rock or rap and have 50+ friends on MySpace...am I right? Then they already have a life: different from the person saying it, but a life noneoftheless. And someone who has friends is not an social outcast. First off, no that's not a nerd/geek. A nerd/geek is someone who is focused upon ONE thing (with some exceptions). So it could be someone who is focused on academics just like it could be someone focused on star trek or someone completely obsessed with video games. Why the social outcast thing? Because the nerd prefers doing whatever he does with his obsession at the cost of a social life. Second off, (and I'm just going to spell it out for people because I'm sick of trying a more subtle approach) stereotypes are only extreme representations of people! They are not people, they are pathetic labels that we place on people based off of a tiny bit of evidence. This obviously means that stereotypes are going to be extreme and very often they are going to be mistaken (because we are all different). Wrong. "get a life" means "stop doing only one activity and go do something more social where you connect with real people". If someone is willing to break away from their online game to go connect with people then how can they be considered a nerd aka someone who just focuses only on ONE activity? 76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007 Finally the secrets of goal achieving are revealed! emmanuel1233
off topic: i don't think i am a nerd/geek... yes i love online rpg's/ and anime lol but my grades in school are barely above average... i have plenty of buddies in school who are just like me... we love football, soccer, and well runescape lol. On the other hand my girlfriend who is a total opposite of me hates anime/online rpg's, kinda likes runescape though.. her grades are high, and don't have much friends here since she moved in with me. she wears glasses... i guess we are part nerd/geek idk lol... on topic: my gf says i look good in glasses... so thats all that matters \ (not trying to offend anyone) unless you are well the kinda person who don't like to get out, stay on computer for hrs without even taking a break, no social status.. is indeed a nerd/geek \

darkmage099
I wear glasses and people make fun of me all the time. Every day I get called smelly and fat because I wear glasses. The kids always laugh and it makes me feel very bad. I wish they would stop. So yes, wearing glasses makes people make fun of me. Sometimes I even go home and cry. It's really painful to think about this...I'm gunna go eat some ice cream. Hm, something tells me that if people are calling you melly and fat, it isn;t because of glasses. :-w .... whoosh.
