Scarabites-New slayer task

A new slayer task was added with the latest quest- "Scabarites".

I was just assigned 161 of them from Duradel in shilo village.

According to the knowledge base, only Duradel assigns "Scabarus minions" and they can be found in the caves east of Sophanem or beneath sophanem.

These are the "tips" that i got from my slayer crystal:

Scabarites are the followers of Scabarus and consist of anything from the lowliest dung beetle to the mightiest scarab mage. They are most commonly found near Sophanem, and under it...

Ok, so I did the quest, now I'm looking for a good way to do this slayer task. Is it worth doing at all? If so, what scarabs are the best to kill (obviously not the mages that poison for 9 and disease for 12), and what is the best setup? Discuss.

Hey, this belongs in Help and Advice, but, since everyone has been wondering about what the new Slayer monster is, I'll just answer you here.

Theres 2 places to find these. In the dungeon that is below Sophanem bank, and the new dungeon from the quest. They are both multicombat areas, so I assume a Cannon would work well here. I just gotten these for a Slayer task, and I am currently headed to the new dungeon to test if a Cannon works. If it doesn't work, then I see no reason to do this task. With all the disease, poison, and damage your going to take, a Cannon is the only viable solution.

The mages are nasty as hell. Avoid at all costs.

Quick notes...

First, be sure you attach the rope to the rock to get the Agility shortcut. Only need to do once.

Be SURE to bring a 4-dose anti and a 4-dose Recilym's balm.

Then...

1. Use scepter to get to Agility Pyramid.. go to the shortcut, scamber past mummies and into dungeon.

2. Go west until the area darkens... look for the trap on the floor and get past it.

3. Continue roughly into the middle area... do NOT go into the big room to the south and do NOT continue west to where there's another floor trap. "Lure" the rangers and lancers into places where you can fight them one at a time. Do this and the mages will leave you alone.

If a mage zaps you, take your balm and super anti.

I recommend super att/str, sara brew/sup restore and Guthans. And a life ring.. saved my [wagon] there once already.

Also bring a chisel, a frequent drop is two cut, unnoted emeralds.

I believe they can be cannoned as well, but *I* sure am not doing it. :)

Hmm good idea, I hadn't gone back to look at those. If there are no mages there it could be a good choice. I'll check it out.

There's also the spot with 2 lancers and 2 rangers near the swamp area.

That could be a nice place to use a cannon since there's no mages but there's also 2 scabarite locusts (or whatever they are) That don't count as scabarites so I'm not sure if it's wise to use it there. Also it might shoot the crocodiles nearby.

Just pointed that out.

I've only killed a few, but the rangers seem to have the best drops, as for whats in large groups? Probably the melee'ers, just bring a cannon and fire away, it is multi combat. If not, I suggest praying in Prosy.

I like that other spot.. no mages. And the locust lancers have slightly different drops.

Task half done before i had to tele. I was diseased almost the entire time, but once the monsters stopped being agressive, it was easier. The drops are very good, the exp is decent. I need to find a better spot.
